    UPDATE: The Pinkers Cut!
In addition to illustrating the value in having a person or community to call on when situations like this arise, I forgot to mention how this realm of sharpening is a never-ending learning expedition. If we wait until we're perfect to press play we'll never get started. Cheers!

@8:54 Thanks so much, now I know my vintage pinking shear's "lap line" has a ways to go and room for improvement! I liked the business tips too.

A day before viewing this video I was looking at a pinking scissors & trying to figure out how to sharpen it. I don't sharpen many scissors-maybe 100 max a year. For dressmakers shears & general scissors I have a Chinese copy of the Work Sharp Ken Onions machine which gives good results For hair / pet grooming shears I use a hand-driven jig which puts the scissors bevel onto a benchstone-I usually use 3-4 stones ending with 2 Arkansas stones, last being an Arkansas Transluscent
Obviously I don't have the power sharpening tool used in the video but I really didn't learn how to sharpen a pinking shear.
I would suggest that more extreme close up shots of the shear's edges & the ? line would be of educational benefit.
BTW The beginning of this video-a bit long was spot on. The business rationale of sharpening is something every edge sharpener will need to face esp when big bucks are going into the "hobby".
    Thanks

I think you and I kind of started at the same time on our sharpening journey. I bought a brand new Nebraska blades CS - 201 viral speed clipper sharpener. I am now needing to sharpen scissors and I’ve taken the classes and I’m also certified I’m just on the edge of what machine will fit me best? I’m hearing from a few people that the twice as sharp Okami gold would be a good system. But yes, be very careful as that system takes a lot of material off quickly! Then I have others telling me to go freehand? I know I need to make a move the next Saturday because I’m already in 15 jobs and they are to sharpen shears along with the clippers already. I wish I had the skills to do the videos. Or should I say time. I don’t have the time to do UA-cam videos. I give you a lot of credit for doing everything you do. Thank you.

Great video. Didn't realize what part of the shears should be sharpened. I recently watched a 'care of your scissors' video which stated we should not 'air cut' because it dulls the blades. Maybe it is different for you since you are the sharpener. That is a fact I did not know. Thanks for the great information.

Thank you, Karen! Unless you are 'air cutting' with the intent to do harm to the scissors, I wouldn't worry much about damage imposed from that. Thanks for watching!

I struggled for a coiple of hours on a customer's Ginghers because they needed slight side pressure to cut. Long story short she said that was normal.

I literally used a screw driver to sharpen mine just kinda pretended like I was cutting the rod part of the screw driver and they cut everything like butter. All except for the very tip :/ love ur channel!

thanks for your video; but i clicked on your video to learn how to sharpen my pinking shears as your titled suggested. Your video should have started at the 14:00 mark and delete all the other fluff. Sorry.

if i had a machine like that readily available; my pinking shears would be sharpened. Alas, i have yet to find a solution to this dull dilemma. Thanks for your response. I hope you took no offence to my comment.

This was very helpful. I found some nice heavy duty pinking shears at a thrift shop that I’m trying to salvage and possibly use in my dressmaking. If I fail do you have any suggestions what to do with them. Do I just toss in the recycle bin?
