    This literally changed my life, I have now sharpened every single pair of scissors I have and as a quilter I have a LOT. I am beyond thrilled I learned this today. I've had a Gingher whetstone for years and just never realized it was as easy as it was. I have a vice in my glass shop and put my pinkers in it and went to town because what is life without risk? My pinking shears cut like the day they came out of the box now, I'm SO happy. Thank you so so much.

    I have an old grinder style scissor sharpener, with a straight - slide guide bar, bought from an old timer, and trained by him, back in the 80's. He taught me, concerning pinking shears, that they needed to be sharpened with the teeth facing into the grinding wheel. My grandmother had several dull pairs of pinking shears and let me practice on them. I did the sharpening both ways, teeth facing into the grinding wheel, and teeth facing away from the grinding wheel. There was a major difference, and teeth facing into the grinding wheel gave me the best results.

    Excellent information, I found some antique pinking shears which were made in the USA and they are still very sharp, I'm guessing they'll outlast more modern ones.

    Thank you so much for this video! I can sharpen knives no problem. Sharpening is kind of therapeutic for me. But today my wife brought me her picking shears to sharpen. I was totally drawing a blank! I was thinking how in the world do I even attempt that! But thanks to your video I am once again the Master of all time space and dimension.... well maybe not but I got a really nice I love you and a pretty good kiss out of it!

    At about 5:26 minutes into video, you show a sanding disk sharpener. Please provide a make and model. I just obtained an old Lectro Hone, and wonder if I could use similar sanding disks on it. Thank you again. Great video and learned much.

    • @BonikaShears
      @BonikaShears  8 місяців тому

      Hmmmmm. I looked at a photo and it could work. You would have to freehand. Buy the paper with psa backing so it will stick directly to the hone or get psa magnet sheets and stick it down and get our metal plates. You would probably need to drill a larger center hole. But it would be easier just to get my Scimech which is on the website www.Bonika com

    Can you tell me if you only do one side of the pinking shears please. Also was a bit hard to see what you were doing but I'm guessing you were sharpening the outside of the cutting bit but not the inside. Great video anyway, many thanks.

    I have a pair of Wiss Model E pinking shears that are anything like those shown on video. Have you ever tackled a pair of those. If not, do you want to try? Perfect cosmetically but do not work.

    Can you just cut some aluminum foil to sharpen? 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @BonikaShears
      @BonikaShears  Рік тому +1

      Noooooooo! I have to fix these all the time. It will make them duller and possibly ruin them if you follow the UA-cam videos that show tin foil folded over and over to be thicker.
