What a wonderful journey through magical countryside. My husband and I visited a family in the highlands almost 20 years ago. We also drive from Edinburg to the northern lands and it was beyond beautiful. We were there over New Years and my hubs was the first footer and we loved being a part of the fun New Years celebrations in the small countryside village. Thank you for sharing your travels.

We did 2 weeks last fall. We did the Military tattoo in Edinburgh, the Queen's yacht, saw the Harry Potter train and visited many Outlander sites.

A kelpie in Scotish folklore is a dangerous sea creature that appears on land as a white horse... if you touch the horse you will be dragged down to the bottom of the lake...

We were in Scotland for 2 weeks in August. It is a stunning country. Hit most of the places you visited and hiked the Old Man of Storr as well as other places. Even had Cullen Skink. Watching your video makes me miss it already. We will definitely be back some day.

We were there in 2019 and plan to return in 2025. I'm afraid I found the music on this video (and others) to be loud and distracting. To each his own, I guess. I ended up muting the sound and just watching. Thanks for the lovely views.
I can relate to that, as sometimes I find the canned music that people get for free, very frenetic and distracting. This music seems to go well with the theme of people in retirement, who still connect as a couple and are enjoying living life together to the fullest for as long as they can!

No way! We just left the UK after spending 2 months there going from John O’Groats to Lizard. We did the NC500, travelled through Wales and all over England. We’d have loved to have met up with you guys!!

I wish we could visit our neighbours in the Faroe's regularly but it's so expensive to fly from Edinburgh. In an ideal world we would have a regular ferry service.

Thanks so much and glad you are enjoying are channel. Our main vlogging camera is a GoPro, because it is small and so versatile. We also use on occasion a drone, an insta360, a Sony camera, and lately we have been using our Iphone 14's a lot more. They are so easy to use and the stabilization is amazing.

This is off topic but since it's a recent post - I usually watch your how to videos.
Can you make one that explains about cell phones and different countries and SIM cards? I keep hearing about people going to other countries and having to drop into a store and buy a SIM card.
I'm guessing this is something you would have come across.
I, on the other hand, have never been out of the US since cell phones existed. And I am truly clueless on this topic. (My last cellphone didn't even have a SIM card and the one before that wasn't a smartphone. I'm super thrifty. I had a flip phone for 9 years until 2014 when I switched back to TracFone from Virgin Mobile because I wanted a smartphone and because it was cheaper. And then in 2019 I had to get a new phone because my smartphone was CDMA. So at least now I have a SIM card even if I don't know where it is because my brother installed it (after he bought it from eBay)).

I have a request. Either in your videos, or in your blog, please add information on how you did your laundry. Are there laundramats? Did you have to bring your own laundry detergent? How many days of clean clothes did you need between laundramats? In a recent video, you said you don’t use Airbnbs anymore, so how do you have access to a washing machine? This request is for all your destinations, not just Scotland. Thank you.

Thanks. We bring our own laundry strips. We will put a link below to our travel store on our website where you can purchase them. We pack 1 week's worth of clothes. There are laundromats most everywhere in the world. Bathroom sink and hang is emergency backup plan.😳

Thanks. We are used to driving on the left in New Zealand and Australia. The problem is Scotland is narrow roads, no shoulders, BIG tour buses and rainy weather. It was beautiful, but stressful.

Yay! A new video! I'm trying to decide if I should do Scotland for two weeks, England for two weeks or one week of each in September 2024. How long did you spend in Scotland total? It looks like you covered a lot of ground (With that side trip to the Faroe Islands also?! It looks wonderful!). I'm interested in your thoughts since you have done both countries (I would not be staying in London for even a full week if only doing England!) Thanks!
Sounds like you’ve got an exciting adventure ahead. What are you wanting to see in England? I’ve been 3x recently and had a 10 day itinerary. Scotland is so beautiful too you won’t want to miss any of the highlights but could possibly be accomplished in 6-8 packed days. Happy travels!
Thanks. We prefer about a week in each country and know that we can return. We actually spent 9 nights in the Faroe Islands, and that we incredible as well. You can't go wrong with any of those places, just go and explore and have fun.

Thanks. It would be more difficult, but less stressful. You can google Scotland train map and get a good idea of the places you could go. You could easily go to all the major cities, but you will need to find tours or other options for areas outside the cities.

Yes we have and loved it. We visited Dubrovnik, Split, Hvar, Zadar, Zagreb, and Plitvice NP. We loved all of them. We were working on our website at that time and didn't do any YT videos. You can check out our blogs on our website. We plan to go back because it is an amazing country.

You are right, they have so much to offer, and for this video we wanted to show the countryside and talk about the route we took. When making a 10 minute video, it's hard to know where to begin and where to end. Those are two wonderful cities! John & Bev

You'd be surprised how quickly your brain can switch. I drove in England, Japan, Botswana, and South Africa. If I can do it, you can do it 😊
You can always tell who the newbies are by how the windshield wipers turn on every time they make a turn. The turn signal vs wipers 😂
Yes, it doesn't take too long. Driving on the left isn't the problem in Scotland, it is the tour buses, narrow roads with no shoulders, and rainy weather!!
