We just came back from a 2 week roadtrip accross Ireland with our 2 kids and it was amazing. The nature is so beautiful, the locals are the nicest people i've ever met and the country is calming and magical. Highly recommand this trip!!

I've loved your channel for a while, now, and couldn't wait to see your take on my mother's country. There's so much to see, after all, on the "Island of saints and scholars." There's Newgrange, a stone-age burial chamber and Unesco world heritage site older than the pyramids and oriented to the winter solstice. There are sites of Viking heritage. There are the bog men at the national museum -- bronze-age visitors from the ancient past preserved so well we can see the 5-o'clock stubble on their faces. And the Tara Brooch and other exquisite works of art. There's the Dublin Post Office, Kilmainhan jail, and a museum detailing the glorious Irish uprising against 400 years of English occupation and cruelty. There's Trinity College and the Book of Kells and the Irish monks who saved and copied ancient historical texts after Rome collapsed and mainland Europe fell into the barbaric dark ages. There's the Irish literary tradition of Yeats and Joyce and Beckett and Behan and George Berhard Shaw. I could go on and on, (obviously!) But I'll end here. Because we didn't see any of that, unfortunately. We were, however, lucky enough to see the Blarney Stone and grilled cheese sandwiches, and for that I must give thanks. Maybe you'll do some of these other sites on your next trip through the Emerald Isle.
You are right, we couldn't show everything and we didn't visit many of places you mentioned. Thanks for sharing them with our viewers, though. it was nice to read it from your loving perspective. We love Ireland and Scotland. Like to spend time in western Ireland more than Dublin. Love Connacht area and the dingle pennisula. After retiring instead of just a couple weeks vacation we are going to spend summers in the Islands.

People who are still working can benefit from these videos as most can manage a two week trip. We used to go in “shoulder season”, autumn, with fewer tourists, not too hot, not too cold, and typically dry. In fact (apologies for sounding like a braggart) we had two weeks of sun in Ireland, which every local commented on. We drove ourselves, and stopped at the information booths around 4 p.m. and got recommendations for B&Bs so we met many locals, and the pubs for lunches and dinners were so cozy. The people are wonderful. You captured it all.
We have just returned from 5 weeks away visiting usa, canada and iceland, living out of our carry on backpacks and hotels and i miss the life already. Wish i could retire and travel full time like you guys are.

Visited Ireland last year for two weeks and loved it. Driving in Ireland can be challenging, as you noted, but we persevered and had a fantastic trip in early Fall last year.

Great job again! I only had one week in Ireland with my family and thought it was not enough. You guys had two and probably would go back again. We went to the Aran Isles while in Galway. I think I recognized the city of Gort in Galway where my Mom's Father was raised. One thing I realized when there was how different our modern American life is from our European forefathers. They spent their entire lives within a ten mile or less circumference, where we now travel all over our own country or visit others like it was nothing. All the more reason to be thankful for those relatives who tore up their roots and moved across the pond for the opportunities waiting for them here. Keep up the good work!

Do you preplan which stops you plan to make? Or just wing it when you get there? If you preplan, when do you have the time to do it since you're always on the go?
We do pre-plan. We stop twice a year to book the next six months. It takes us a full week with two of us working on it. In the past, we did it as we traveled and it was too hard. It’s a big job, but it’s also fun! Thanks for asking! John & Bev

Guinness is some of my favorite beer! Would love to go try it at its source on day myself. Imagine being the guy helping people kiss a rock all day, lol. I am so jealous! We planned and paid for a three week trip to Ireland for our 40th anniversary but sadly this was in 2020 and the pandemic with all of it’s lockdowns hit and soon all of our monies (except airfare) was being returned to us. Starting in Dublin, heading to Galway over to the Aran Islands, cliffs of Moher, the ring of Kerry, Limerick and back to Dublin and I am sure I missed a few places too. So you have re-inspired me. Maybe next year!!! Beautiful and thank you.
We were on a cruise in July that stopped at Dublin, Belfast, and Cork. We have already decided to return on our own to see more of Ireland. Thanks for the insight!
Great video I just got back from Ireland. I stayed in co Down with friends. A few days in Dublin my family is from Mayo, so I’ve never really explored the north and that was really great. Derry is wonderful Belfast is nice. Just so you know, there is no Northern Ireland flag the flag you showed was the Ulster flag which six counties are in the north and three counties are in the republic.
We do use an ATM, but in most of Europe almost everything is going "cashless". I think we have used cash only a couple times in the past 8 weeks! John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/

Wow, fantastic. I absolutely loved the columnar joints at the coast. They were reminiscent of The Devil's Post Pile in California, USA, but much more scenic with the ocean crashing in. Thank you for taking us along on your adventures. Safe travels.

Do you preplan which stops you plan to make? Or just wing it when you get there?
If you preplan, when do you have the time to do it since you're always on the go?
We do pre-plan. We stop twice a year to book the next six months. It takes us a full week with two of us working on it. In the past, we did it as we traveled and it was too hard. It’s a big job, but it’s also fun! Thanks for asking! John & Bev

Guinness is some of my favorite beer! Would love to go try it at its source on day myself. Imagine being the guy helping people kiss a rock all day, lol. Sorry John, I'm going with Bev on the limerick battle! Maybe #1! Nova Scotia has a big impact in that story too as most of the folks that died (that were recovered) are buried here. I'm all about places that focus on the cheese as well!

I am so jealous! We planned and paid for a three week trip to Ireland for our 40th anniversary but sadly this was in 2020 and the pandemic with all of it’s lockdowns hit and soon all of our monies (except airfare) was being returned to us. Starting in Dublin, heading to Galway over to the Aran Islands, cliffs of Moher, the ring of Kerry, Limerick and back to Dublin and I am sure I missed a few places too. So you have re-inspired me. Maybe next year!!! Beautiful and thank you.

Great video I just got back from Ireland. I stayed in co Down with friends. A few days in Dublin my family is from Mayo, so I’ve never really explored the north and that was really great. Derry is wonderful Belfast is nice.
Just so you know, there is no Northern Ireland flag the flag you showed was the Ulster flag which six counties are in the north and three counties are in the republic.

We do use an ATM, but in most of Europe almost everything is going "cashless". I think we have used cash only a couple times in the past 8 weeks!

I have liked your previous videos. but will not watch this and had to vote this video down as for me there is you called our country 'Ireland' and 'Northern Ireland' as if the latter wasn't Ireland'. It's all one island country called Ireland. Thank you and glad you enjoyed your time nonetheless
