So many familiar chords and progressions magically appear on our screens,,,, wonderful stuff, talent galore. I've learned more about the fretboard than I thought possible, not mention the fabulous rhythm and timing has helped me so much. Thank you James, wishing you well as always.
A few months ago I had a discussion with a guy who believed "Ten Years Gone" is Zeppelin's best track, hands down. No close second. I've listened to it a hundred times since, just about convincing myself the dude is right.
I agree with your friend, it's my favorite Zeppelin track in a long list of favorite Zeppelin tracks. It's a well constructed song, light & heavy at the same time, driving rhythm and great lyrics/vocals, guitar parts that fit the song perfectly without overpowering them or getting lost. Thank you James James.
Well, musically, Since I've Been Loving You is stellar. No criticism there. But the squeaky drum pedal is so distracting, it's hard for me to fully appreciate the brilliance of the performance. So for me, it's not perfect in every conceivable way. Kashmir, on the other hand, is perfect. And Jimmy even resisted the temptation of adding a guitar solo, which would have ruined it. :)
Bravo. I wish I hadn't lost most of the use of my hands to nerve damage in my spine, I have learned so much from your channel, unfortunately I can no longer put it to good use. My guitars now quietly sleep. Your lessons make my day though. Thanks.
My favorite Zep tune. It just rolls, then wham. And then Jimmy goes super melodic on the solo, unlike anything else he ever did. Just an amazing piece of work.
I’m so sorry man I’ve been having hand pain recently and it’s been hell not being able to play my guitar I can’t imagine what you go through. I hope maybe sometime in the future you’ll be able to play again.
Im really sorry to hear, I’ve been playing for about 2 years now and went through some carple tunnel and tendonitis and had to stop here and there. I’ve realized that guitar isn’t guaranteed forever so I try to cherish it as much as possible every day.
I love playing this song. IMO this song is one of the greatest songs they've ever done. I rate it higher as a guitar symphony than "Achilles" e.g.. It is just brilliant hat Jimmy produced here. And I bet it was not an easy song for Robert to find space to write a real melody on top. To find space to develop a real part. The solo is amazing; all the chord voicings, and especially that bridge, with that one chord!
My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Zeppelin song!!! There are so many beautiful, interesting sounding parts . I never get tired of hearing this song. I especially love when they played live and Jimmy used his B-Bender. Great job as always James James!!!!
Possibly the best of LZ 'ballads'. Just the most beautiful intro and chorus rifs. Also James, digging the shirt - definitely the sort of thing I'd wear.
Oh my gosh. Absolutely one of my favorites. Everyday at least once a day. Thank you Sir James....won't ever be able to get it. But now we have a place to start👍
Awesome! This takes me back. The first Zep song I ever learned. So many easier songs by them for a budding guitarist, but i had borrowed the tab from my friend and was able to make my way through a lot of it.
From Wikipedia: Plant later added lyrics, which are dedicated to an old girlfriend who, ten years earlier, had made him choose either her or his music. Plant explained this in an interview in 1975: “Let me tell you a little story behind the song "Ten Years Gone" on our new album. I was working my ass off before joining Zeppelin. A lady I really dearly loved said, "Right. It's me or your fans." Not that I had fans, but I said, "I can't stop, I've got to keep going." She's quite content these days, I imagine. She's got a washing machine that works by itself and a little sports car. We wouldn't have anything to say anymore. I could probably relate to her, but she couldn't relate to me. I'd be smiling too much. Ten years gone, I'm afraid. Anyway, there's a gamble for you.” And the rest folks is history. Ramble on. ;)
This is my favorite Led Zeppelin song, and I think I've seen you do it on three different videos now. I can only assume that it's one of your favorites as well. For me I find it reminiscent of my late teens, chasing girls up at the lake, getting high, and keg parties. Kind of makes me feel sometimes, didn't have to grow, but as the eagle leaves the nest, it's got so far to go
First time viewer and it's clear that this guy is not only a student of the instrument, but a student of the masters. Rock on, kind sir. Keep up the uploads. Subbed.
JJ is the Man. One of the Best on UA-cam. Plays everything Note for Note. I learned a lot from your playing and teaching. Happy Holidays Brother. Scott Philly Pa
Hey James this is awesome learnt the main parts of this from the lesson you did a while back , two week ago great tune and fun to play, wish I could learn the solo part and play like that!! Thankyou for sharing.
Hey James, I’m getting into Zeppelin and my favorite song so far is Wearing And Tearing. Is there any songs like that that have the same vibe that aren’t hits? Thanks.
James James alright thanks! Coda is my favorite album so far. Did you know the album cover of Physical Graffiti was the same building in the video in the Stones’ Waiting On A Friend?
Take your pick. All albums are worth listening to front to back. I like Ramble On and Babe I’m Gonna Leave you. If you go way way down the rabbit hole you will find some amazing mandolin in many of their songs. Happy hunting
James James is gifted enough to be a fill-in for Jimmy on many songs -- play as a second lead guitar. James probably will not admit this in deference to other great bands. He KNOWS: By sheer number of iconic riffs alone, let alone lead vocals, drummer and bass -- Led Zeppelin is the best hard rock band. All-time. 14 over-dubs here for just ONE masterful song! Physical Graffiti, just ONE of Led Zeppelin's many masterful albums. It's nearly incontrovertible. They RULE the hard rock genre.
James, I would love to have a jam session with my Mexican tele version of this guitar and your crucible dragon and see how much alike they are and just jam zeppelin all day 😂 keep on rocking
That performance of Prelude #4 in e minor is the most tasteful use of the bender. Between that song and Becks performance that Royal Albert Hall Show was Devastating for Guitar Guys.
Is that a Carr amplifier? Nice playing. The double stop slides from 3:27 ~ 4:07 remind so much of some other tune from the radio in the 70’s, seems like it was a song with a female singer, top 40 song forever. ;)
McCartney & Wings maybe? I forget which song. Uncle Albert? Lyrics are something like “Living in a small world”?. Will google and report back if I find it
I learned this song in an afternoon and made a YT cover the other day, Ten Years Gone is such a masterpiece and I wish I had took some time to really master it, I feel sad that there are mistakes in there, because it doesn’t deserve it! I don’t want to make it private, I’ll lose watch time :(. I guess I’ll make a #2 later on...
Not only is this a guitar masterpiece, but the lyrics really need to be acknowledged (none of that "bustle in your hedgegrow" shit). One of my favorite songs by any artist.
yes indeed the B Bender first design by byrds player Clarence White.. now on by the great Marty Stuart that beautiful fender.. Brad Paisley had both B& G Bender believe he's got two. yeah I learned how valuable up b-bender really is when trying to figure out how to play a couple of Eagles songs were Bernie lead and bent the hell out of the strings and I realize he had a b Bender in order to get those Great bends. I 10 years God didn't Jimmy Page Les or almost twenty-three guitars on top of the original mixture some insane number like that when you break it down off of the board?? this was a cool page plant one you did a good job improvising that part without the string bender.
Nice job on a version I’d not heard before. I slapped a Hipshot b-bender on my tele awhile back. Mine has the additional G-palm lever and the drop D lever for the low E string. Nondestructive installation (except for slotting a donor bridge). Unfortunately, way too many mechanical variables for my limited attention span to learn how to use it effectively.
He started using it onstage in 77 for TYG. In the studio, he used it on In a Through the Out Door, you can hear it most clearly on All My Love and Hot Dog. I suspect he did the solo for Southbound Suarez on it, too. It was his main guitar in The Firm.
If I recall correctly he salvaged the neck from his then-defunct Dragon Telecaster and slapped it on a body with a B bender. Used it pretty in the late 70s-80s.
You have a good ear. I believe that is what it is all about as a musician. Can you teach that? Hypothetical question....I doubt it...you either have it ingrained through DNA or not. You can try replication, however, I hear it too often...bad things! Anyway, love your channel, man......you are doing good things for humans!!!
My middle finger struggles so much to get on the Eb for that dimished 7 chord or whatever it is and it drives me insane. I've been playing this song for months but the transition from the A chord to that Eb chord is still messing me up for some reason.
I find that many hardcore Led Zeppelin fans hold a special place in their hearts for this song.
This song and the Rain Song are my favorites of theirs, along with No Quarter. What an amazing band.
@@BrainBrew-hn6dzCouldn’t agree more, also ‘Tea for One’ and ‘When the Levee Breaks’ are up there for me.
This dude has taught me so many riffs, thoroughly enjoy the covers/lessons especially zeppelin and stones. Right on man.
So many familiar chords and progressions magically appear on our screens,,,, wonderful stuff, talent galore. I've learned more about the fretboard than I thought possible, not mention the fabulous rhythm and timing has helped me so much. Thank you James, wishing you well as always.

I've had that same thought multiple times. Same with The Rain Song

Since I've Been Loving You is my choice 👍
Played this at a music recital on the tenth anniversary of my mother’s passing. So glad you picked it today.

My favorite Zep tune. It just rolls, then wham. And then Jimmy goes super melodic on the solo, unlike anything else he ever did. Just an amazing piece of work.
That’s one of the most heartbreaking things i’ve ever heard as a guitarist myself. Nearly broke down and cried( be well pal
Sorry to hear that, that's really sad.

What a fantastic song. Truly a brilliant composition.

I've always thought that was true of a lot of Zeppelin songs, how hard it must have been to come up with a melody for some of those riffs.
One of my fav zep songs.
Man that was great. It’s 8:56 a.m. Drinking my coffee. What a way to start my day, thanks man.

my favortie led zeppelin song! I love it! Very well!!

Great video, thanks for posting this video!!!!

Physical Graffiti in general is a weekend of weed and headphones. Unbelievable music, lyrics, and vocals. Presence is next.

Nice work James - I went to Genezero (best time of my life), so I spent a lot of time in Rochester.
Awesome cover !! But ... how's about the shirt, love it 👍

Awesome sounds great I want to learn this! Thanks
learned this in like 83 or so.. I thought.
That Tele!!!!! 😍😍😍
Awesome. I guess he musta played that with the Brown Tele that he also used at the ARMS Concert. What a great Guitar in His Hands.
Yes, that's the same Tele. That was his main guitar in the 80s.

Try D and B at first fret, G and high E at second fret. That might work as a substitute.
