On the surface the animation looks so simple, but once you see this you understand how complicated it is. And after seeing this I respect you so much! You are a master of soo many things. Drawing/art, adobe illustrator, animation knowledge, animate cc and adobe after effects. You are super amazing.
Thanks for sharing. Sometimes one tends to think there’s a special technique to achieve a result but normally the most important technique are skills, time and hard work.
It's been a hot minute since I used Animate (then flash), been using After Effects. but animating in procreate is slowly pulling me back to Animate and you are very inspiring! Ahh!
I can't even begin to express how excited I am for this channel!! I'm just getting started out with this style of animation and it's ridiculously hard to find good tutorials for them. Keep up the good work sir. Looks amazing!!
Maybe a course in the future ;) its a lot of content... meanwhile I'll be releasing some step by step tutorials for some specific techniques soon. Stay tuned!
Thanks bro this is hectic. I really do think alot of this is wasted on ppl who have no idea at what they are even looking at online. I appreciate the time it takes you to do this. Subbed.
I really enjoyed this, and it helped demystify a lot of things for me. One question I do have is: For the cleanup, are you actually adjusting the imported vectors in Animate to create each frame, or are you re-drawing the artwork? Thanks!
Thanks! I do both things, depending on the action. I just try to reuse drawings as much as I can to reduce the amount of work. But it can be a trap sometimes... because if you reuse too much the animation will start to look stiff and also because sometimes its actually faster to draw from scratch. For editing the drawings, make sure you apply an optimise or smooth so it reduces the amount of points to make it easier to drag things around.
I've been trying to learn after effects for so long, and I can't figure it out. I see people showing what they did and saying why, but nothing as into the how. I've learned how to make slideshows, and basic animations in the software itself, but the actual ''after'' effect part of the software is just not explained. I make animations in adobe animate, and I just want to use after effects to make them look better in post, but nothing on the internet is showing how to add spice to animations, it's just explaining how to animate, which I already know how to do in other softwares; it's giving me a headache, I think I might just give up.
I guess it all depends on what you are trying to achieve. Usually in after effects I'm just trying to replicate a look created in another software (photoshop, illustrator or procreate). Then you just have to use any tools at your disposal for that. It gets easier to find tutorials and tips when you are looking for something more specific (like adding a noise texture or line boil for example). Don't give up :)
I like seeing workflows. Your workflow is so different from mine, yours is very methodical. I usually just draw it all out at once. It could probably be done a lot easier.
Hi Taylor! I usually follow a simple structure: idea, sketch, design, rough pass, clean-up, finishing. Some of those are really important especially if you are working with clients. But I'm always trying to find ways to make it all more efficient :) Do you have any suggestions?
awesome work and explanation! One doubt: I see you did the initial sketch in Photoshop, but the sketch of all the inbetween frames in Animate. And the initial vector drawings in Illustrator, but then the drawings for all the other frames in Animate. Why not doing all the work directly in Animate (sketching and drawing)? Isn't it more cumbersome using different programs for the same function? Which limitations of Animate lead you to using specific apps for part of the frames?
You definitely can do everything in Animate. But, as much as it looks like a hassle, jumping between these programs is not a big deal. I just try to do stuff where I feel most comfortable and where I think the best tools fir each task are. Photoshop for sketching is mostly force of habit, no great advantages for that there. Nowadays I tend to use procreate on my iPad Pro for sketching. You can do it on paper if you want. As for Illustrator, I think its drawing tools are way more powerful and intuitive than Animate for designing. In the end, it doesn't really matter where you create it. As much as it is important to learn them, don't get too attached to programs... focus on the process ;)
There is this another artist Ten Hundred who does the same ua-cam.com/users/PSMOOVIE Tough he paints and illustrates he would do something similar. First sketch on paper than transfer it to other surfaces and redo it there. I feel going the long way gives to time to think, prototype and improvise whereas doing it directly might lead you to the so called blank page syndrome. What are your thoughts??
@@mayankbargode6005 your comment got lost here :( sorry for not responding. Anyway, better late than never 😅 well, I just think if you don't plan it very well before starting, you end up with a result that's no so good, or worse, you could waste even more time.
