- We bought this Cadillac BLS in summer for £2100 with 58000 miles on it. The BLS is so rare many people have never heard of the model at all, never mind the 255bhp Sport Luxury. It's a phenomenal car for the money. We've now racked up over 4000 miles with the turbo V6 and in this video take it on the Cannonbawz Run 9 NC500 first leg from Elgin to Ullapool.
Never fail to be amused that your dash on a big trip looks like you recieved far too many Maplins vouchers for a birthday and/or christmas and just went in and said "Yes."
That's a cracking motor, fair puts a shift in! Can see you doing big things with it just for a laugh, we're here for it!
Another superb video. The cat wants the name of the Channel changed
To
Once driven forever kitten
Uncle Bubba will be proud of the work you've done on this hottie. But Tax of £15 a week? That's £720 annually?? WTF??!!
For the NHS and that failed rail project.
If you are not using the car you can always SORN it to save some cash on the tax. No limit on SORN declarations as long as you tax the car when you need it back on the road.
Absaloutly brilliant video dougy❤👍 what spectacular town Elgin is and ullapool absaloutly beautiful brilliant
Great driving roads and beautiful scenery, Scotland could be a motorists playground, haha. I'm glad you rate the Cadillac Dougie. She's a great car and incredible value for luxury and power.
Another great video has always Dougie 👍
I owned the 1.9 diesel for a couple of years, only selling when the Saab/GM divorce got messy and spares were hard to come by. (That's solved now, though panel/paint matches might be tricky for some metallic paint. Vinyl wraps might be a better solution these days. Even the glass is from the 9-3 so no panic if you crack a window.)
It cost me less than the equivalent Vectra and was a much nicer place to be for long miles. Clearly no one would get excited by a 1.9D 😂 but it was a good servant. Other than sensor failures and some Saab specialists not wanting to touch it when I had one, it's an interesting niche choice.
When I sold it, it went to a chap with trying to dash between the UK and Germany for family reasons, and I hope it served him well.
Well bought, sir!
Glad those Bridgestone's did the trick mate, perfect for that weather! Nice to meet you. Cracking vid and channel. Might have to give that Cannonbawz a go myself some point 🙂
Definitely go for it 👍😎 nice to see you on here!
Cracking video dougie ,cracking wee v6 clio at your first stop 👌
Aww our old car. Lovely to see it again.
Really? Aw cool when did you own it?
@@OnceDrivenForeverSmitten march 2016 to about september 2022 then we had to get a mobility car for my hubby.
I 🤔
Thank you Man for yet again correcting some of the very famous misinformation gained from our childhood go to Pretentious Motoring journalists.
Vauxhall Vectra, Toyota Corolla, Austin Maestro, Proton Savvy, Vauxhall Frontera lwb, Citroën Xsara, Fiat Stilo and Multipla, Volvo 340, Kia Pride and original Rio, Hyundai X2, Daewoo Nexia, Nissan Almera, Great Wall Steed. I could go on all night. All great vehicles that their owners loved and enjoyed driving but had their images unnecessarily tarnished by pointless negative reviews by Commentators who should have kept their feet on the ground and out of Porsche and Audi footwells.
Great video Dougie funny to see me in it 😂
Cracking work. The hotel car park you started the video at actually used to be the local vauxhall dealer.
I had no idea. So many little dealers have vanished
I can't comment on the engine for comparison as my 93 is the 2 litre petrol but those look like Saab seats which are the comfiest I have ever sat in, great for long distances. I passed you when you were in the Caddy on the A69 on that scorching hot day in the middle of September near Brampton and then you disappeared off at the lights onto the M6, thats an incredibly quick car! The wee silver SLK I was in stood no chance😂
Was on a photoshoot for work at Stocksfield that day 😃 It does shift, I'm looking forward to recording stats v the Saab 9-5 Aero to see which one comes out on top 😁
Ah sorry i missed this one Dougie , hopefully will catch you all on the next one cheers
I love the channel, thanks for all your hard work! Will you be getting back to more videos on fixing/maintaining your fleet? They're the ones I really subscribe for. I know that everyone wants something different though!
Yes there are workshop videos on the way. I don't like putting them out until I have fixed the problem I'm dealing with or finishing something off. I should do shorter ones more often really
Had the bigger rad and intercooler on my Vectra VXR and they did make a difference. Well worth the money
Lovely part of the world Elgin lived there for a year or so when was younger
Nice one Dougie 👍🏴
I love the 2.8 turbo - same engine in my 9-5 ng with 296 bhp and the Insignia VXR bumps it up even further to 325 bhp
It's very good. Does it eat chains?
Not that I am aware of. I've done 75k so far without any issue 😁@@ChrisPatrick-q6k
@user-sf7kl9uh7k shouldn't do if it's serviced regularly
There are Some important differences tho
Hi there Dougie! :) Loved the video!
Though I am hoping you'd be able to shed some light on a topic that's been plaguing us Cadillac BLS owners for quite some time - regarding the Tech2. I've been trying to get Security Access, so that I can perform some SPS Updates on various equipment throughout the vehicle. I believe that a program called GlobalTIS is needed to grant the access, as well as perform the updates - however I've only ever been able to find copies of GlobalTIS that are made for SAAB & Opel, none for Cadillac.
A few people have mentioned that you could make use of the SAAB one for granting Security Access, and that would work, but the SPS updates seem to be impossible, albeit some of them are crucial to iron out a few kinks that were addressed throughout 2.8 V6's lifespan. I'd really appreciate any insights you could share with us on this, as it would go a long way in keeping a lot of these vehicles on the road, including my own!
Dougie, where are you man? Seen you on instagram but not on here, hoping those storms haven’t been too unkind to you, looking forward to the updates, looks like you’re working hard 👍
Great work Dougie, when is the le cav update?
Good old Glencoe .. I have a Vectra Vxr with the same engine, a remap works wonders on these 2.8's instant 300bhp and 400+ is possible for a few grand ;)
I think it's the torque increase that makes the big difference when moving to the remap, as it goes from 350nm to 450nm, or 330lb/ft of torque. That'll be fantastic. Need to get the 9-5 and the Cadillac head to head and see which is the quicker 😎
That the first time I've ever seen that petrol station in Ullapool empty, usually heaving 😂😂
Beautiful scenery and largely unspoiled roads. Hope the spoilsports dont start putting up 20MPH speed limits🙄 PS Nice looking L Reg Red 1.8 LS Cav in the scrap yard at Baxendens, plus a low mileage Corsa B GLS still running not scrapped in their latest UA-cam
Is this the same engine as the Insignia VXR? They're rare too, so rare that in 2019 i gave up looking for one and ended up buying a BMW M235i.
I had always been a performance Vauxhall and Ford man previously but don't think I'll ever go back now.
This BLS however looks like an interesting project purchase!
It's an earlier version. Same engine as the first version of Vectra VXR 255bhp.
Watch out of the timing chain on those. In he Vectra's with the 2.8 if the chain started rattling it was £1000 for the parts alone to replace.
Sounds good does the old cad
Caddy shak
Only done these roads in the camper and they are not much fun in a camper, would love to do them in the Vectra or Cavalier. Maybe one day i will convince the wife (or just take the dog instead)
£10 for a Pizza is very cheap , here in Ascot where i am down South you would be paying £25 quid in the local Pizza restaurant , we get over charged for everything here.
I’ve had 2/3 trade. GM but well. GM. Not hateful. I miss the SIGNUM personally. That was auto capitalised
That's a saab 2.8t v6 GM engine
Take decal off the windscreen it looks terrible spoils the look of the car 🚗 😮😮
These decals are only added for the events 👍😆
Cav breaking
hahaha saab 9-3 bls
Dougie, get rid of this car and buy the real thing vectra VXR. This car is a lot of dog piss.
There is nothing Vauxhall/Opel about a vxr/opc
Bollocks
