    Quick correction: For Lucky/Unlucky Damage, only the calculation of damage is simulated twice. Operations such as crit chance/evasion/dodge/block are not rolled twice as the Lucky/Unlucky modifier in this case is only for damage.

    extremely niche but according to the PoEwiki (from last time i've seen it) leech starts before taking damage, so with the bloodseeker gloves and a way for you to leech the damage you take (which with bloodseeker turn instant) you should be able to instantly leech health from damage taken. (according to the wiki, i haven't tried this out but leech can be really interesting and has not been explored that much)

    • @quantumpanic
      @quantumpanic Рік тому

      But iirc bloodseeker's insta leech only applies to damage dealt with the weapon itself?

    • @elementalshu
      @elementalshu Рік тому

      You can easily see how leech works without taking damage by using Petrified Blood.

    Nice explanation. I had no idea flat damage was BEFORE % reductions. I always thought it was after so you could fully eliminate small hits. Interesting stuff.
    I used physical taken as lightning a lot this league ... lightning coil, watchers eye, etc. Combined with perma topaz flask and +max lightning rez, etc. It is amazing how much better it is than massive armor! Although I have no idea how much is too much ... PoB shows me at 90% but it makes no sense to me.

    I imagine a lot of players would've expected Block to be right at the beginning of the damage calculation, alongside prevention mechanics like evasion and dodge, as it feels thematically similar. Finding that it's actually right at the end would've definitely surprised some people.

    • @tarotaro6933
      @tarotaro6933 Рік тому

      yeah, it has to do with the hit actually happen or not, since the hit still happen when you block you just take no damage. It actually make sense irl that block happen after you can't evade/dodge the attack.

    • @ArawnOfAnnwn

      @@tarotaro6933 I meant people would've expected block to be ahead of damage reduction, not ahead of evasion or dodge.

      @@ArawnOfAnnwn I see, but just throwing out there if block happened first before damage reduction such as -damage taken, for build like glancing blow it will be pretty broken tbh.

    A suggestion - can you please make the attention circles be more accurate? It's very confusing to try to get what exactly are you showing inside the circle and lose attention to your voice.
    A bunch of examples in the video, e.g. 5:09 - bramblejack with a "+ to maximum life" beeing encircled, when you are talking about other affix.

    Could you do a video explaining attack speed or cast speed ?
    e.g. if using explosive arrow ballista totem with an attack speed of 2.5 per sec, does it shoot out 5 arrows every 2 secs or the game just shoot 2 arrows per sec? And if I'm using Arc and had a cast speed of 2.5 per sec, does it cast 5 Arc every 2secs ?
    Cause even with some tiny bit of speed increased from jewel etc. It does boost the dps in POB but does it actually happened in game?

    • @dreamcore_gg
      @dreamcore_gg  Рік тому +3

      Yes it does increase your dps, obviously that is the damage assuming you are standing still and only casting that skill. If an EA totem fires 2.5 attacks per second, it will fire an attack every 0.4 seconds. Attack speed and cast speed are not rounded up or down, your Arc fe. with a cast speed of 2.5 casts per seconds, you'll be casting Arc every 0.4 seconds.

    This was an awesome video. Really well done. Thank you. Subscribed.
    One question which is not in the video, during the damage mitigation phase, does resistances apply before or after armour? For when your armour applies to elemental damage, on a jugg for example.
    That makes the armour apply to really different values and I would love to know. Thank you

    • @dreamcore_gg
      @dreamcore_gg  Рік тому +1

      Thank you! In the case of Transcendence or the Juggernaut's Unbreakable notable, resistance applies before armour, which is why it's so powerful since your resistance layer inherently makes armour more valuable due to the hit being smaller thereafter.

    so according to this if i have low armor but high resists i should never take the mod %phys taken as elemental damage ?
    i was very sure that if you convert the damage it passes to both mitigations and therefore gets further reduced than just going through one ?

    • @dreamcore_gg
      @dreamcore_gg  Рік тому +3

      No, you should absolutely take as many physical taken as elemental stats as you can if you have low armour and high resists, that would mean that the damage that is taken as elemental is instead mitigated by your resists, which would be beneficial.
      Damage taken is never mitigated twice, it can only go through the mitigation phase once. Fe. you have 75% lightning resistance and 5000 armour, and you take 1000 physical damage and have 50% physical damage taken as lightning. The 500 damage that is taken as lightning is mitigated by your lightning resistance and you take 125 lightning damage(500*0.25). The 500 remaining physical damage is mitigated by your armour and you take about 165 physical damage(500*0.33). You take a total of 290 damage.
      In the above example, if you had 100% of physical damage taken as lightning damage, you would have instead only taken 250 total damage(1000*0.25). And if you had no physical damage taken as lightning damage, you would have taken 500 total damage(1000*0.5).
      If you have low amounts of armour, gaining modifiers that grant physical damage taken as X is very beneficial because it will reduce the damage you take for both damage types, since armour will become more effective against a smaller hit. Hopefully this is helpful!

    • @dreamcore_gg
      @dreamcore_gg  Рік тому +1

      Yes, they both work because you are not shifting the type of damage twice. In this case, you simply have multiple instances of physical damage taken as X. I'll be doing a more in-depth mechanics explained video on specifically damage taken as soon.
