  • Every day our time is divided into physical reality, digital reality and augmented reality. Those three worlds are going to blend in future society to create 72 hour day that we will have to learn how to manage if we want to live every aspect of our reality to our fullest potential.
Aya Sadder is an Incubator Manager at Intelak dealing with aviation, travels and tourism in the United Arab Emirates and forms partnerships between different bodies of the region. Aya graduated at the Babson College of Boston and is part of the Bobson Middle Eastern Alumni club in Dubai. She worked for over five years under the aegis of Techstars and Google as a worldwide certified facilitator for Startup Weekend. Today she is also an active mentor and relator in different programs linked to the future of technology and of women in STEMs.
Aya Sadder è Incubator Manager presso Intelak, che si occupa di aviazione, viaggi e turismo negli Emirati Arabi Uniti e crea collaborazioni tra enti diversi della regione. I think that many of us, already heavily engaged in the virtual & digital Worlds, have begun taking these ideas for granted. Aya is bringing up some very important aspects of how much time & even physicality (& it is a lot) that we are saving. Great talk.

Well, if people abuse computer gaming and mobile phones in a way that makes them develop behavioral addiction which makes all their social life, family life and work efficiency crumble than more engaging experience such as augmented reality might even aggreviate such issues. But we will see. It always makes sense to wait and see how things will develop. And IRL things usually develop in a different way than it has been predicted by the people who design or promote wide-spread usage of some innovative technology.

This has nothing to do with the experience of time as a conscious being, nor the number of experiences that can be had in that time. It's an exposition on next generation time saving devices. Neutral in a Heideggerian sense, but still bearing a misleading title that is more semantic gymnastics than reality.

I think what she is trying to convey is that by using the three dimensions optimally, we can increase the efficiency in our day to day lives therefore saving us more time and making 24 hours into 72 hours.

I was so excited to see this video, because I thought it was going to be offering something else entirely… You can add hours to your day by eliminating judgment (and attachment to that judgment), which is much easier than letting technology judge you on top of the self-judgment and judgment of others that you already have… Judgment is the time/energy waster… Productivity is not the end goal; connectivity is. Just my $.02😀💖🙏🏿

Actually, I must also add that this type of thing will turn us into a bit of a “Russia“ (not sure if the reference makes sense to everyone, But creating the most productive/winning society doesn’t work and R proved that) and will increase the inefficiency of where funding goes, because more than one person has the same talent and they will be applying it separately for the same end and costing twice as much. If your gift is servicing your community in some way, and you let the computer decide what you can add value with, from within you, and it may not resonate with your heart space, you will be working against yourself, because the computer told you to. Just saying...It’s great that you’re putting yourself out there, but the message is a little bit of a wedge of separation, rather than coalescence.

though largely housebound, I prefer real reality thanks. Whilst this tech can be useful, like the training for surgeons etc, there is so much hubris as usual with reference to future tech. We are humans and require human contact to survive this world. Id rather talk with people to get ideas for things, and even if I can only get out a few times a month, and haven't had a holiday since 1999, Id prefer what I do have to living in a fake world.

@@redshift6743 We are in a simulated reality, but not what people think...a very long other story.
For now, until the gov take my home of 33 years, I still have a beautiful garden, if a little neglected because I cant afford to employ a gardener more than the 4 hours every month, whereas I used to have to spend a whole day every week to maintain it. I can still look, and spend literally a few minutes a day doing what I can from a wheelchair. I am very thankful for that.
I have lost everything. I had a full life, gained a complex arts degree in post modern classical composition and experimental film, and taught community arts. My hobbies were horse riding, writing, painting and 'painting sculptures, classical guitar, I was also singer-songwriter in a punk style band playing bass synth and percussion, and we had all sorts of ideas. I loved my work and my life outside that. Due to severe fatigue , I can no longer read, which I miss very much, and I cant follow dramas or my radio plays due to the fatigue. I try and find interesting documentaries to stave off the intense boredom, though I remember very little.
But I'm still alive. I can help and support people in some ways, even if its just a phone call, though its hard to speak sometimes due to palatal myoclonus. I love to hear the birds here. Life, even a miserable and painful one, is still life, and I've learned much from suffering so it's been a force for good in my life. I'm afraid there was too much hubris by far prior to being ill!. I just fear that people will opt out of all the things they could achieve, and I see it in wider family members gaming for hours on end or constantly on social media, when they have so much talent: its heart breaking.
Thank you for your kind words. I'm nothing special.

I think the idea is how to efficiently use our time. Not a new concept....we all try to streamline our day, multi-tasking. Can we utilize technology to improve making plans for our future and to help us make decisions as we move through our daily activities? I think so. But, before utilizing this efficiency-boosting technology, we must know what we want in our life, what are our goals and priorities. If technology is used a a tool, and it is used well, then I think it could improve one's quality of life.

@@ayasadder2240 thank you for taking the time to reply to my comment. Do you mind me asking a follow up question to the talk?
I fully agree that the future is humans being completed by algorithms and AI. I just don't see how we can get there in today's climate. The way I see it this requires companies with groundbreaking algorithms and more importantly a ton of user data. In 2019 the obvious contenders would be Facebook Google or amazon but with the myriad of data scandals and the increasing data privacy concerns, I doubt people will willingly share their data. Do you think this will hinder the technological advancements or is this just a phase that will end soon?
      P. S. I laughed really hard at hat John snow joke :)

@@TheRealMelox I'm glad you asked this question since most people who commented didn't do their reading on this fascinating topic, Society 5.0. I also would say that it was an absolute honor to be in the presence of Yuko Harayama who was present at TEDx Roma, look her up when you are ready to understand more on the topic. As per the theme and the 9 months of guideline and practice from the team, we had found a topic that corresponded well enough to the concept of future. See, Japan is dealing with an aging population and the only way they can do this is by repurposing their populations skill set so that by 2050, their soft skills would have developed to be appropriate for the jobs that are coming up versus the ones that have already passed. I dabbled a lot with the concept of time, a lot of what we fear as people is surprise, the unknown. How I tried to confront it is by re imagining the hours we have in our day so that we could actually deal with the future and to take advantage, instead of being afraid. How would we really profit from the time in our day if we knew what assets or resources could work in our benefit to help us deal with bigger problems humans face such as anxiety, lack of confidence, imagination and creativity? I might be an optimist when it comes to technology and it's benefits, but when it comes to data, we have already leaked a lot more than you can imagine. We use words like AI and machine learning but we all know that the power today of these machines can become very scary but in some cities around the world data is not owned by the people, but by the state. In the case of Japan, they want to use technology at the epicenter of everything, as a guided and trusted source and of course you will never have 100 percent agreement from the people, there will always be a push back. In the case of my argument, I wanted to strive for a place where the mentality of people, regardless of all tech was to never forget that we are human and we can never lose the most important thing which makes us that, which is empathy. As humanity progresses towards doing better for each other and being kinder to ourselves we can learn to take advantage of the things that improve our lives and reject the things that don't work for us. I hope this answers your question! Please feel free to continue the debate I'm happy to exchange opinions. Also, you couldn't see 1700 people staring at me from the video screen but trust me there was the most beautiful energy and audience I have ever laid my eyes on and felt very blessed to be there.

@@ayasadder2240 Thank you for answering my question so elegantly. I really enjoy the idea that humanity can reject the negative for the greater good of society.
I am sure conducting the presentation must have been a beautiful experience for you. I hope to one day attend a TedX talk as well because of the amount of amazing people exchanging experiences and thoughts there. People such as Yuko Harayama who I want to thank you for introducing me to her talk. I have really enjoyed the video and she is a fascinating person. The concept of society 5.0 is very interesting and I do want to believe that that will be our future. However I would like to play devil's advocate for a moment and cite a paragraph from Yuval Noah Hararis latest book: "... The rise of AI might eliminate the economic value and political power of most humans. At the same time improvements in biotechnology might make it possible to translate economic inequality in biological inequality" so my question would be if the majority of jobs will be automated how do humans find purpose if they cannot manage to adapt and develop the newly required skill sets due to the increasing inequality?
Lastly I want to mention that I am really interested in these topics but often find myself uninformed because I don't have the necessary background to really contribute to the conversation. Can you recommend any interesting books that could help me understand these topics better?
Once again thank you. I really enjoy learning about new perspectives on life
