I finally consulted a board certified derma last February. My skin wasn't getting better even if I use skincare products for my skin type. My skin looks way better now. I hope you can shine a light on me po Doc. Because I really don't have the money for continuous derma. I'm 19 years old and my acne started po nung 10 yrs old ako, since I started my period. And throughout the years po mas lalo po siyang lumalala to the point there's pustules, and cysts all over my face down to my neck, a few zits on my back, shoulder lower stomach and bikini area. 'Yong cysts po sa mukha ko tabi tabi po sila to the point na pag nag smile/tumawa they burst and then there's blood coming out po. Strangers would come up and tell me to try stuff. Ganon po siya kalala na mapapansin po agad. I tried, ponds acne solutions, they did work for the first 3-5 months but after that wala na po siyang talab, also tried po celeteque, pimple eraser, Safeguard derma sense, etc all are not effective. I did went to the derma po but hindi ko po natatapos ang sessions, kc hindi rin po tumatalab ang ibang procedures, and they advise me po to drink medications na but I was still 14 or 15. And then pandemic po, naputol nanaman po ulit ung sessions and I switched po sa prestige rejuv set. Suprisingly it did cleared out my skin. There were still a few pimples but kuminis po siya. Na makikita niyo nlng po ung acne scars ko kasi ang lalalim po ng pimples ko hehehehe. Ang kaso lang po, pag nag switch po ako sa maintenance set, dumadami po ulit ung pimples ko, so halos monthly po or pagka-nauubos na sya nag rerejuv po ako ulit. Nalaman ko po na nakakapag thin siya ng skin and maraming side effects. And napansin ko po na if dati ng oily ung skin ko, mas lalo pa po siya naging oily to the point na (I'm myoptic) ung eyeglasses ko po ay nag-slide na. I tried rejuv set po ng hello glow, sad to say nahihirapan po siyang at least ma-control ung pimples ko so I tried po for now, Hello Glow po acne defense set, but it's not really effective as the prestige. I'm hoping po you could give me tips kasi I'm thinking po na bumalik sa rejuv just for the sake of clearing my pimples again bcoz my professor pointed it out po in one of her classes that I should do something about it but, we're struggling financially and I'm trying to look for effective products but only rejuv set works. Sana po mabasa ninyo, thank you po.

Hi doc, new subscriber here. Meron akong acne 2 years na di pa din nawawala 😭 nagi struggle na ko and wala ng confidence. Kumakain magisa at tinatago ang face kasi nahihiya at natatakot sa judgement. Buti may face mask ngayon. I am using now hello glow, at first naglight but now almost 2months na kong gumagamit, walang nagbago. Please help! 😭 malapit na ko maging desperate to do oral med but scared because it can damage liver daw base sa research ko.
Hi Eunice, I suggest a proper consultation. Mahirap talaga mag trial and error, you waste both time and money plus you risk developing scars. Rejuv sets are not meant to treat acne contrary to what a lot of people may believe. May libreng consultation ang Philippine Dermatological Society online.
Finally, a filipino derma on youtube😍 i subscribed right away. Im going to watch all your videos, been dealing with my acne since i was in college, way back 2018 i used beautederm for like a year. My face got cleared while using it but then i didnt realized i cant use rejuv sets for a long time, i stop using it then my skin before went back and i got worse breakouts. I have very oily t zone and dry on some parts of my face,acne and sensitive. Right now i have dark spots,large pores, and some active acnes mostly on my chin(due to mask) and some on my cheeks as well. Any recommendations for skincare i should try? I am based here in canada by the way.

Cosrx aha/bha toner Cetaphil moisturizer with spf 30 Pm: cosrx salicylic acid wash Cerave night moisturizer I tried the clean and clear BP 5% for 3nights only i had super breakouts, big and red acnes. Visited my doctor derma nong November 2022, niresitahan ako ng doxycycline, adapalene, benzoyl peroxide, clindamycin, at sunblock. Super effective nag stop yung pimples ko, pag may period nlng lumalabas pimples ko pero di na madami minsan dalawa pimples nlng minsan nmn isa lng.... After that check up di na ako bumalik kasi okay naman.. maintain ko lng benzoyl peroxide at sunblock kasi yung iba need ng resita ng doctor... Question ko doc ana po ma recommend nyo for night time na product. Acne scars nlng meron ako now.

For mild bacne you can try washing it with soap containing sulfur, salicylic acid or glycolic acid. If it doesn't improve, please take him for consultation with a dermatologist :)
Doc ok lang ba na gumamit ng toner na merong vitamin c sa ingredient kasama ng tretinoin sa gabi? ang star naman po ng ingredient ng toner ay 90% centella asiatica, then may konti po syang brightening actives and isa na po doon yung vitamin c derivative.
More than just the ingredients would be the formulation, vehicle, brand. Buy something made by a brand you trust that is reputable. read reviews as well. Pwede ka dn mag consult :)

Atrophic scars need more invasive treatments like laser resurfacing, deep chemical peeling, collagen-induction therapy etc. Hindi enough ang topical treatment :)

Adapalene and retinol are both retinoids. I would only use one depending on what you need. Adapalene = anti-acne, retinol=anti-aging. In terms of what to use with them, again it depends on what your skin needs and what your concerns are :)

actually using tretinoin fasten healing and boost collagen production. It’s alos recommended to use tretinoin weeks before tca cross, lasers, subsicion, microneedling etc. to improve healing and less scars

Hmm i would have to say that any sunscreen is safe to use naman as long as you are not allergic to a particular ingredient. TBH I have not heard of any type of sunscreen na bawal BUT if you want to be sure, best to ask your endocrinologist.

Hi kathleen. I have videos on how to deal with mild acne and dark and red marks. If you have acne, pinakamabuti mag consult with a derm para ma assess ng mabuti ang skin mo. Mahirap magbigay ng advice without seeing the patient and the skin lesions.
It is not something I recommend to be used as monotherapy but it is something that can be used by individuals with mild to moderate acne as an add-on to topical anti-acne medications :)

If you're oily and if your cleanser contains low con SA (0.5-1%), it should be ok to use it twice a day. otherwise you may add a toner in the morning containing either AHA, BHA or SA or PHA instead.

In my opinion, yes if your skin can tolerate it. Low concentration of AHA or BHA is usually safe. Also the type of vit c matters. If vitamin c derivatives walang problem, but if ascorbic acid, which can be irritating to some, proceed with caution :)

Some whitening creams kc contain high potent steroids and when used continuously for long periods of time can cause stretchmarks, magiging honest ako sayo, wala pang treatment na completelely nakakpagtanggal ng stretch marks pero meron nakakapanipis nito. I suggest a consultation.

Tranexamic acid is an ingredient that has been shown to benefit those with PIH and PIE, whicle mandelic acid naman is an exfoliant. Yes, these two ingredients in the right concentrations and when used properly can help improve PIE and PIH :)

Hi doc, im currently using niacinamide serum(inkey list) to my acne. Been using it once per day for three days now and i noticed that my active pimples turned red, i also have two new pimples coming out. Is this purging? Should i continue using it? Thank you in advance
Niacinamide doesnt cause purging. Only products that increase skin turnover do - retinoids, bpo, exfoliants etc. Plus niacinamide is not a treatment for acne kaya hindi gumagaling. I recommend you consult para tamang gamot mabigay sayo :)

I hope you can shine a light on me po Doc. Because I really don't have the money for continuous derma. I'm 19 years old and my acne started po nung 10 yrs old ako, since I started my period. And throughout the years po mas lalo po siyang lumalala to the point there's pustules, and cysts all over my face down to my neck, a few zits on my back, shoulder lower stomach and bikini area. 'Yong cysts po sa mukha ko tabi tabi po sila to the point na pag nag smile/tumawa they burst and then there's blood coming out po. Strangers would come up and tell me to try stuff. Ganon po siya kalala na mapapansin po agad. I tried, ponds acne solutions, they did work for the first 3-5 months but after that wala na po siyang talab, also tried po celeteque, pimple eraser, Safeguard derma sense, etc all are not effective. I did went to the derma po but hindi ko po natatapos ang sessions, kc hindi rin po tumatalab ang ibang procedures, and they advise me po to drink medications na but I was still 14 or 15. And then pandemic po, naputol nanaman po ulit ung sessions and I switched po sa prestige rejuv set. Suprisingly it did cleared out my skin. There were still a few pimples but kuminis po siya. Na makikita niyo nlng po ung acne scars ko kasi ang lalalim po ng pimples ko hehehehe. Ang kaso lang po, pag nag switch po ako sa maintenance set, dumadami po ulit ung pimples ko, so halos monthly po or pagka-nauubos na sya nag rerejuv po ako ulit. Nalaman ko po na nakakapag thin siya ng skin and maraming side effects. And napansin ko po na if dati ng oily ung skin ko, mas lalo pa po siya naging oily to the point na (I'm myoptic) ung eyeglasses ko po ay nag-slide na. I tried rejuv set po ng hello glow, sad to say nahihirapan po siyang at least ma-control ung pimples ko so I tried po for now, Hello Glow po acne defense set, but it's not really effective as the prestige. I'm hoping po you could give me tips kasi I'm thinking po na bumalik sa rejuv just for the sake of clearing my pimples again bcoz my professor pointed it out po in one of her classes that I should do something about it but, we're struggling financially and I'm trying to look for effective products but only rejuv set works. Sana po mabasa ninyo, thank you po.

Hi Eunice, I suggest a proper consultation. Mahirap talaga mag trial and error, you waste both time and money plus you risk developing scars. Rejuv sets are not meant to treat acne contrary to what a lot of people may believe. May libreng consultation ang Philippine Dermatological Society online.

For mild bacne you can try washing it with soap containing sulfur, salicylic acid or glycolic acid. If it doesn't improve, please take him for consultation with a dermatologist :)

Atrophic scars need more invasive treatments like laser resurfacing, deep chemical peeling, collagen-induction therapy etc. Hindi enough ang topical treatment :)

Adapalene and retinol are both retinoids. I would only use one depending on what you need. Adapalene = anti-acne, retinol=anti-aging. In terms of what to use with them, again it depends on what your skin needs and what your concerns are :)
then just use a tretinoin to get the benefits from both anti aging and acne

Hmm i would have to say that any sunscreen is safe to use naman as long as you are not allergic to a particular ingredient. TBH I have not heard of any type of sunscreen na bawal BUT if you want to be sure, best to ask your endocrinologist.

If you're oily and if your cleanser contains low con SA (0.5-1%), it should be ok to use it twice a day.

In my opinion, yes if your skin can tolerate it. Low concentration of AHA or BHA is usually safe. Also the type of vit c matters. If vitamin c derivatives walang problem, but if ascorbic acid, which can be irritating to some, proceed with caution :)

Some whitening creams kc contain high potent steroids and when used continuously for long periods of time can cause stretchmarks, magiging honest ako sayo, wala pang treatment na completelely nakakpagtanggal ng stretch marks pero meron nakakapanipis nito. I suggest a consultation.

Tranexamic acid is an ingredient that has been shown to benefit those with PIH and PIE, whicle mandelic acid naman is an exfoliant. Yes, these two ingredients in the right concentrations and when used properly can help improve PIE and PIH :)

Hi doc, im currently using niacinamide serum(inkey list) to my acne. Been using it once per day for three days now and i noticed that my active pimples turned red, i also have two new pimples coming out. Is this purging? Should i continue using it? Thank you in advance
Niacinamide doesnt cause purging. Only products that increase skin turnover do - retinoids, bpo, exfoliants etc. Plus niacinamide is not a treatment for acne kaya hindi gumagaling. I recommend you consult para tamang gamot mabigay sayo :)
You can continue using it but if you want to resolve your acne you will need other products/ingredients :)
