Tom Petty loved his fans so much, his last performance was done with a broken hip...then he took painkillers to help with the pain. His death was an awful tragedy. We love him so much in Florida, the University of Florida where he worked as a groundskeeper when he was a kid now dedicates every single half time break with the entire stadium singing "I Won't Back Down". I don't see that dedication to him to ever stop. I miss him!!

Me, too. Sometimes I listen to it on repeat for hours at a time. The first time I heard Crawling Back To You it blew me away. It never gets old. I know you and I are not the only ones who love it because if you listen to the Tom Petty channel on SiriusXM radio, they have a show called The Last DJ where fans get to choose and play their five favorite Petty songs and very often. This song is on many peoples top five songs. True Tom Petty fans love crawling back to you. I don’t know why the rest of the world doesn’t know about this song.

A Woman in Love really demonstrates his ability to communicate emotions in his voice. He continued to produce music into the 2000's, and there are some lesser known songs really worth a listen in that later era. He started going in a more bluesy direction too.

Full Moon Fever by Tom Petty is a Jeff Lynne (ELO & Traveling Wilbury bandmate) production. I can play this WHOLE album all the way through without skipping one song. You can definitely hear the ELO influence on this album.
This brings back memories of a holiday in Washington State, Oregon and Canada/Vancouver. Driving across America with my partner (whom I WAS married to but not now thank goodness). The breathtaking scenery, Tom's voice from the car cassette tape player (yes really - that long ago). Sunshine blasting the car and glittering across lakes, walking on Mt Rainier and Mt St Helens (and the badlands). You guys live in such a stunningly beautiful country. You need to appreciate how amazing America is. I ❤ the UK and there are fabulous places here too (like the Lake District, Wales, Northumberland, Trough of Bowland, Yorkshire, Cornwall etc) but the USA takes my breath away.

Tom Petty was a local Gainesville Florida boy. When I was a student at U of F in the 70s Tom and his first band Mudcrutch used to play the local bars and night clubs on weekends. Got some good stories about the boy.

This song is bittersweet for me. When it came out, I was on drugs, and living in a cheap hotel. I was only 16. Thankfully things worked out, and I’ve been sober over 20 years now.
This song always reminds me of my wife. Not because she was a face in the crowd, but because she says I was a face in the crowd for her. She saw me at a college event in the audience and was attracted to me then. A few months later, we met and were dating. Pretty cool for her, right? LOL I like being the face in the crowd. And I agree with others that this album doesn't have a bad song on it. A rare album where I never skip a track.
I interepreted the song as what one's soulmate was doing before they met. He or she may have lived a parallel life a short distance away without the other person knowing.

His live version of "Breakdown" will give you chills. The crowd takes over and he just takes it in and says "you're going to put me out of a job".
