- The myth that Odell was pointing to a location well below the First Step when asked to show where he law saw Mallory and Irvine was busted by a commentator in another channel.

Conrad was mistaken. Noel Odell was not the last surviving member of the 1924 expedition. Actually, John Noel outlived him by three years, passing away in March of 1989.
Imagine never being able to unsee the last place you saw someone.
The "via the second step" crowd won't be happy that Odell referred to it as Mallory's ice axe. Of course anyone who follows this channel knows it was his axe, but the 1999 grave robbers need it to be Irvine's otherwise that reported hole in Mallory's skull can't be explained except by the careless actions of their own axes.
100th anniversary passed unnoticed... 1924-2024.
The number of outright lies about M&I promulgated by Conrad Anker defies belief.
I put the '99 guys right up there with The Beach Boys. It's over fellas.
Question to Micheal Tracey, do you think that it is possible that the people involved in the Mallory search and the creation of the movie "The wildest Dream" are contractually obligated by the financiers to not talk about other routes other than the Second-Step route which is heavily featured in the movie? I had contact with Jake Norton about this but he did not reply even after replying to other questions. I think the financier is National Geographic, namely Rupert Murdoch.
Not to diminish the skills and courage of the various mountaineers who attempt to publish or profit off accounts of Everest climbs, but the disciplines of history, archeology, ethics, geology, and even image analysis, timelines etc are simply beyond the capabilities of Anker, Powell and other adventurers, particularly those who have skin in the game.
Another excellent video and analysis - many thanks. You consistently bring light to the subject, whereas others only bring heat.
The photo in the book is not identical to the Anker photo. Odell's head is tilted more in the Anker version
Thank you for mentioning my interview with Robert Edwards. I'd love to moderate a discussion with both of you regarding Mallory.
It's a shame the book is so riddled with errors, but that cover illustration is epic. I can imagine coming across that as a boy and being completely enthralled.
It’s such a ludicrous claim as to nearly defy belief. Whatever uncertainty reasonably remains about their route and timing, there is virtually no chance Mallory and Irvine were at that spot at
Another on-point video, Michael.
Why is Conrad soooooo against them making it to the top. ?????
TY Michael 🙏🙏. It seems odd to me that in all the years after the expedition, there wasn't a known verified photo/lecture identification of the last spot he saw M&I, & the only photo we have is this, where the ice axe was found.
In a recent video, Jake Norton makes a notable error in logic. He evaluates the relative difficulties of the zigzag route and the 2nd step route, and comes to the conclusion that the latter is easier. Therefore, says Jake, it is likely that M & I would have climbed the second step instead of the zigzag.
Smashed it Michael yet again 🎉🎉
Busted! 🍿
