Water during fasting is a tricky thing, too much and you pee electrolytes, too little and dehydration sets in. If he’s got calluses from working that’ll cause it too.
Larry, I am truly impressed with your dedication to your weekly fasts... You are doing so well, congratulations! I wish I had the strength to do that as you know I have been struggling for years now. I do not give up...
As many have noted, you may be a bit dehydrated, or it may have been cold when you were outside. A good way to be sure and only need to "stick" once is to warm your hands by washing them in very warm water until your skin gets a little "flush" from the heat. The flush signifies you have good blood supply at the surface of your skin and will cause you to bleed more. Conversely if you are ever bleeding (like maybe a nose bleed or small cut) apply a cold pack to constrict the blood vessels and slow bleeding (along with direct pressure to site, elevate above level of heart) Thanks for the videos, you and Cassie are relatable, real people and that helps inspire me to keep getting back on track! :)
Before pricking your finger, flail your arms around, maybe even do a bit of jumping jacks or some sort of movement for a min or two. Then you can massage the finger you’re going to prick and you should have a good amount of blood :) Maybe consider getting a continuous glucose monitor so you don’t have to keep pricking yourself. Also, thanks for including that first clip!!
What's up with these stalls???!!! Good grief, I go up and down between 8 pounds either way EATING THE SAME THING!!!!! I gotta stop weighing everyday. thanks for the inspo!!!!💖💖
We are finding that after we lose a significant amount of weight, eating the same can't be the same, we have to tighten things up the more we lose. The stalls can be discouraging, but once it's broken it's game on👍 Keep going Anji! You're doing great 🔥
Larry, you and Cassie rock. I have listening to Dr. Boz and she explains that anyone who is Insulin Resistance needs to do 1-3 days fast every day in order to stay in Ketosis, lose weight and maintain your goal weight. Now I am doing what Cassie is doing No Coffee, No Diary and mixing it with the High Fat Fast for 3 days (bone broth w/4 tbsp. fat 2x daily). I have been this for 2 months and loss 20 pounds. I need 20 more pounds for my goal weight. Thank you both for your encouragement.
Dang Larry! That's great! Congratulations!🎉You have totally inspired me to get on a regular fasting schedule! I'm looking forward to getting started. Loved your calendar graphic of your fasting days. I love the way you break your fast with beef broth/bone broth! And congrats to Cassie for giving up coffee, heavy cream, and dairy! That's a big accomplishment! You both are so inspiring!👍😄😉
You have really encouraged me !! Thank you !! Starting this week, I am fasting two days a week; Mondays and Thursdays. Each fast will be about 40 hours. I have made a food plan for the week, to make sure I hit certain protein and fat macros. Only beef, eggs, butter and salt (and coffee). Thank you both for the encouragement, motivation, community and love !!!

G'day Larry, You're going very well. I've been stalled since Christmas and I'm hoping that your success will encourage me to start losing the weight again. Just a tip on the finger pricking. I donate blood and it is essential to be well hydrated for good blood flow. Thanks again Larry.
I'll tell what never did stall.....your video's, video editing, the nice injection of subtle humour and the whole appearance of each new video. Great stuff, just keeps getting better :) :) :)
You and Cassie really inspired me into action this month. I'm so happy for both of you staying accountable and dedicated to those challenging goals. Bravo👍🥳 Definitely looking leaner, Larry.
Thanks Larry, I'm bouncing in and out of eating right. It really discourages me that I am so weak. I am hoping to find the will power to stick to eating high fat and protein. You and Cassie really are doing a great service to us! Thanks again.
FYI.... you can poke yourself any place on your body so you don't kill your fingers. You just have to figure out spots that give blood easily. My husband is a Type 1 diabetic since 1978 and has tested many spots and they all have nearly the same readings. He finds his knees are fairly painless to poke and I find that the little part of my hand on palm side, right above the wrist on the pinky side is not bad.
You two have motivated me so much that I will be doing your protocol starting April 1st. I too have issues with cream so I will also not have dairy as well for the month of April. I think I will be dreading not having cream the most. I just have to just tell my body who is the boss. Good job you guys!
🙋LARRY!!!!!! You are a WARRIOR my friend🎉🎉🎉🎉That is AWESOME!! It makes my heart ❤ sing when I hear amazing news like this with you and Mama Cass. I am so thrilled for you both and anyone else who is crushing it this month. 🎉🎉I am still no ☕!!!! That Excedrin Migraine was a TOTAL life saver!!! Going on a little over 2 weeks now. I feel really good overall. SO I thought I'd try a BBBE + ground 🐔 and see if I can bust my stall. I use a tape measure and I like what it says so far LOL😊. Appreciate your encouragement. Just keep it up. BTW your complexion looks really good. All that fasting is doing wonders. Cheers to you with my glass of water LOL🍻. Have an amazing day.👍😘
Thanks, Larry. I eat OMAD and close my window but I am near goal weight and done. My body isn't letting lose easily but I am as near as my body will allow me. I am older. 60 something and I am ready to think this is as good as it gets for me. I stay off the scale. I've healthier and my belt size is 32 inches. I drink my coffee in the morning and leave it along. I love you guys. Blessings sent!
Nice to see your blood glucose back up to a functional range: great sign that you’re able to convert body fat to a sufficient level of blood sugar for the brain to function properly. Your speech hardly slurred at all compared to your last video! Very impressive….and inspirational!!!! Can’t wait to see your weight loss results!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Thank you for sharing this with us. I am SO proud of you!!! I’ve been stalled for about a year too, Larry! Thinking about completely dropping what little dairy I eat and fasting a few days through the week based on the results you and Cassie have had! Maybe that will help me too! I feel fantastic just stubborn chubs! 😂
WOW! LARRY! You rock! I've been fasting the first 3 days of every month in 2024, but I'm going to try it mid-month, too. Don't know if I'll get up to your level though. Hang in there.

Try fasting with fatty broth and eat to the chemistry other days and you’ll have a good GKI every day, even if you don’t fast at all.
I'll say it for you again...WOW. Good for you, Larry. I cannot fast, used to do it as a teenager on the Stillman Diet (precursor to Atkins), but back then, I could do nothing while fasting and just zone out. I was on a 2 year stall before I really got into keto, but I knew it would work and it's not about weight alone, but healing the insides, as you know. Lost 20 lbs and then stalled again for a year, kept tweaking to more carnivore and suddenly dropped 10 more lbs. We really need to stop thinking only about weight, but healing, yet it's a tough thing when you rarely get on the scale, think you feel thinner, and the numbers stay almost the same. That is probably just the body reshaping stretch and if people stick with it as you and Cassie have, it will restart the downward slide to that perfect number/range. If I could just do what Cassie did and eliminate all the dairy, I think I'd lose that last ten pounds. You do look a lot thinner on camera, just saying. ~Cynthia
Great Video, Larry. Thank you. You are doing a great job. I hope that this has taken care of your stall. Thank you for all that you do, and for being real. :)
Great job Larry! BTW... I always heard when your dehydrated you're harder to bleed, I don't know if it's true. Also you've expired me to try the same protocol for the month of April. I'm 410 now. I'll keep you posted. Love your content!!!!!

Good job, stalls suck ! But it not always the scale. Keep off the €£€{} scale. Never thought I could do a 16-8 now 20-4 with a 36 hour once a week or two. It helps mix it up.
From a neurological standpoint, "discipline" is developed by doing difficult things that you do not want to do. So, you are correct that as you succeed at this difficult task, you gain more discipline. This is a scientifically confirmed process that can be seen in brain scans. I am curious to know if you experience any shivering periodically, particularly if you experience any stall in weight loss progress. Iodine deficiency is common and causes low thyroid function. With low thyroid hormone production, the body has to resort to muscular shivering (which is to consume and use more oxygen) to produce heat, whereas adequate thyroid production increases basal metabolic rate for maintaining homeostasis and body temperature. Insulin has other necessary and beneficial effects beyond blood glucose regulation, so it's not something to be feared as long as we understand it, like most things, requires moderation to function correctly. I'm a health science and physical therapy major, so I know these things because I have studied a great deal about human physiology in my courses in conjunction with learning from low-carb and carnivore diet doctors who advocate for it. Due to this phenomenon, it's recommended to supplement iodine. However, I have chosen to consume 1-3 cups of whole milk per day which is a good source of iodine. The small amount of carbs contained in it is not a problem either as your body is built to manage low levels of carb consumption by way of the pancreas releasing insulin. It's only when you have a high carb diet and continually consume carbs throughout the day that things go badly. Some people report that introducing small levels of carbs (so-called natural or animal-based carb sources like milk) also helps to break through plateaus when introduced in small amounts like I mentioned. Perhaps it's worth considering if you have any of these experiences. Keep up the good work!
How do you prepare for a 3 day fast? Do you try to eat more protein or fat the day before? I've fast 44 hours before but its been a while. Gotta get your mind right for sure!
i did a keto strip test today . First time . Test said trace . I still eat chip . It's been 9 week since i started carnivore diet + chip rofl . At least now i know where i stand at . No cafeine for 7 years
@@CarnivoreQuestapologies, my bad! You did provide the context (comparison numbers) and I missed it because I was driving. When I played it back at home I heard it. Meant to delete my comment. Sorry!
Why do you need to break a fast with bone broth? Later in the day, a few hours after the broth do you eat meat? Or is it bone broth for the day? I’ve never fasted. I made it 23 hours once but felt like I had the flu but would try again if it would end my stall.
Larry, were your hands cold when you were trying to prick your finger…. Also maybe the lancet needs changing ….. wow those ketone numbers…. I got a 0.7 once and was excited lol….
You've been outside... you were probably a bit cold. That was probably why you didn't want to bleed. Warm your hands next time before the stick. Congrats on the results.
Hi Larry I have been on Carnivore for 68 days been eating 1 to 2 meals a day, from BBBE , I can’t afford steak that often so I am having ground beef 80/20 , chicken thighs skin on, bacon eggs and butter, I want to know do you ever get bored eating just few things the same over and over , before 68 days ago and long time I used to eat 6 to 9 times a day with more choices , I am so proud of myself started at 345lbs and I am 292 lbs , I love your videos I love carnivore but kinda gets boring just eating a few things, can you please give me any advice what you do to not get bored eating a few items? Thanks Larry have a blessed day
Congratulations on your success so far David! Boredom has definitely hit Cassie and I before. I did a video about this topic about a year and a half ago. Here's the link to it. It deals with food aversion and boredom can definitely fall into that category. Have a great day.👊 ua-cam.com/video/nzxgw-9ITwo/v-deo.html
Hey Randy! Just came up with it through everything I had tried. Laura and Chris Spath did weekly extend fasting to lose all their weight but I think they were eating meals a day.
No blood means you are dehydrated. Make sure you drink enough while fasting.
Check your blood pressure, if it is low too you are definitely dehydrated.
You can also see that your lips are quite dry and chalky white. Also, if you have little spit or it is thick and stringy. Definitely dehydrated.
Or that your hands are cold.
Water during fasting is a tricky thing, too much and you pee electrolytes, too little and dehydration sets in. If he’s got calluses from working that’ll cause it too.
So grateful for the good info in this thread! I’ve experienced something similar. . . I had no idea this was a sign of dehydration!
Let’s do this as a group in April! Love this short vid!

Congratulations on your success so far David! Boredom has definitely hit Cassie and I before. I did a video about this topic about a year and a half ago. Here's the link to it. It deals with food aversion and boredom can definitely fall into that category. Have a great day.👊

@@CarnivoreQuest thanks Larry for your help.
Was there something that led you to follow this particular protocol this month?
Hey Randy! Just came up with it through everything I had tried. Laura and Chris Spath did weekly extend fasting to lose all their weight but I think they were eating meals a day.
@@CarnivoreQuest ten 4, I’m thinking about giving it a shot.
🎉👏👏👏💪
Thanks T👍 Following your awesome lead🔥
@CarnivoreQuest then it's a circle, because I don't know where I would be without the realness and motivation of CQ.
Can you guys tell me where you got your reader to check your levels?
It's a keto mojo, you can order it through amazon👍
@CarnivoreQuest O.k thank you both. Great page.
You’re dehydrated
When you don't eat, you lose weight. Duh. You lose fat and muscle. When you begin to eat again, you'll gain more fat than muscle. Bad idea.
Ever hear of autophagy? To be clear this isn't just about weight loss...duh
Way to go Larry!!
