Hi friends!! For the next month (until 11/1/23), we’ll be selecting 1 commenter on THIS video for a FREE essay review! To qualify, all you have to do is like and reply to this comment with something you learned from this video :) FYI normally, we charge $225 for a professional common app review with feedback from two of our ElevatEd consultants!
This analysis was super helpful to me. Just today I wrote an essay for my common app but i realize it’s to much background information and not about how i dealt with the issue in the end I just skipped time and said what I learned from it, I will be re writing it to change the layout!
i learned about the problem/solution ratio for this, and realized I allocated way too much of my word count towards my problem. i will be editing to fix this, and it's something i'll remember for the rest of my supplementals/essays!
hi! I'm stoked at this opportunity!! I think something that I learned was how much we focus on the problem rather than the solution. College want to see who is COMING into campus not who you were before ( atleast ratio wise). Thanks again.
OMG THANK YOU FOR THIS VERY HELPFUL VIDEO (AND THE RUBRICS YOU PROVIDE TOO)!!! I'm an international low-income student so I can't afford private consultant. Therefore, your videos always help me a lot! I hope you can make a video about punctuation and common grammatical mistakes in college essays too, I'm always confused when it comes to these marks: " and '
Your videos are amazing. I love the ones about Editing Your College Essays. I love hearing other people's stories and your suggestions to make them stronger. Thank you so much for the great content!
Even though this kid studies the things that group specific people together, their channel built a community across boarders. I think they could should talk about that! And potentially about people from different places commenting questions about their own countries and how that prompted more research and built a diverse fan base.
The last essay suffered from one problem: the word limit! I wish it was open-ended and the author could have developed the characters more (though this is a great problem to have). On a different note, the essay revision videos are great because you get to see how someone on the outside would judge an essay. The combination of a rubric to attach a quantity to such a subjective system with case-by-case examples is amazing content to have free on UA-cam. So many "tips and tricks" videos rarely provide value than telling you what NOT to write about. This video spreads positivity: it doesn't what experience to write about so long as a writer aims to hit the goals you prescribe in the rubric and video, as well as showing how one can augment the structure of an essay to convey a message better.
I watch your every single video, but why I couldnt see your post on free essay reviewing? I would have definitely wrote my own and send it. But as always, Amazing video:)
Hi friends! It's happening again! From now until September 28th, we will be reviewing YOUR supplemental and UC essays for free! Send them to essay@elevated.school with the subject line "UA-cam Review" for a chance to have your essay analyzed on our channel! If you are comfortable having me workshop your common app essay in a UA-cam video, I would be more than happy to do it completely free for you (we will anonymize your names of course!)! 😊😊😊

I hope you found this video helpful and are having a wonderful day 😇
Hello, thanks for these videos. It helps a lot, especially those among us who are doing this inependently. One day, do that again (reviewing essays on a you tube video for free).
I've visited your website and really wanted my essay to be commented by you, Kevin. But the price is really out of hand to me. I wonder if there is any other way to get my essay commented by you 😢?
Thanks for the amazing content! Watching your videos, I feel much calmer and more capable of achieving my dream. I have a question about the PS. In other places, I have seen that it could be in two structures - narrative structure and montage structure(a bunch of things about you connected through some object). And most of the essays you edit are narrative. How can I show problem-solution statements in such structure, while showcasing different aspects? Thank you very much!
Great question! The problem solution ratio is a framework that can be applied to any structure. For example, if you write a 3-scene montage structure, you’ll still want the focus of each scene to center around your solutions (not your problem). Lmk if this makes sense!
Thanks for the really helpful video! I had a question though is it alright to mention certain statements in your personal statement without supporting details if those details are mentioned in your activities list? For example, let’s say someone loves dancing and volunteering and has spent a significant amount of time volunteering which is present in their common app. Would it be alright for them to mention something like “Aside from helping people, ….” somewhere as a point in their essay. I think this should be alright since from what I know your activities list gets read before your personal statement so your AO would have the context of the statement when they read it.

Hi this is a phenomenal opportunity , I didn’t realize how much my description was eating up my word count when it really said nothing about me
problem:solution ratio with talking about problem around 20%
The geography essay was definitely my favourite
