Jeff is a senior at Yale double majoring in Computer Science and East Asian Studies with a concentration on China. I've learned a lot from the "reviewing your essays" series, however most were based off the common app. Now that common apps were due for EA/ED's, it would be helpful to see how you critique supplemental essays like the "why us essays", "diversity essays", etc... Also UC essays would be helpful. Thank you for taking the time and making these videos it has helped me a lot in navigating my college application journey!

I don't know why but everytime I listen to someone reading their personal statement "aloud," I cringe a little (even when serious topics are discussed). But when I get to take their text and read it by myself, I get this feeling of awe. Chills

Spring is the time some college students may be thinking about fellowships. These fellowships often require personal statements, and the same troubles that plague students for the common app: problem/solution ratio, clichés, telling instead of showing, etc. In fact, while refining my Fulbright app I really loved watching your common app essay series (and I still do) because it is was insightful for my own application.

In year 2030 a paid service will be offered as ‘creative AI’ for students able to pay for it, college essays will be written and read by machines.
What are your guys' thoughts on AI and college essays?
Sure it was filled with cliches and its go-to-phrases, but I was surprised by how "human" it sounded; I could imagine someone writing this as a first draft or even submitting it if they didn't know any better
do you think its a terrible idea to use ai as a draft as i’m having trouble coming up with something but i have the right anecdotes and theme i want it to be centered around; i just dont know how to start it
Hey Kevin! Do you think that using ChatGPT for reviewing college essays may pose any ethical problems? I mean, is it something that could be frowned upon by admissions officers?
I don't know why I found it so funny that the ai kept the clichés after specifically asking it not to. The title was also v cute 🎀

are the universities able to detect AI written essays?
there is no definite way to detect if an essay is ai generated or not, but i imagine admission officers have read enough essays to tell on their own
Hey i am an Indian student from a remote area. i am not exposed to Sat or ap courses. I applied to harvard via test optional will i get rejected (I have 95% score for all final exams from 9 to 12 grade)
Do u have Extracurriculars, How about ur essays and recommendations, admissions is based on a plethora of factors nor just grades
