After watching Sam Waterson play the stoic and even tempered Jack McCoy on Law and Order for so many years, watching him have fun in a more comedic role is so damn entertaining!
the amount of times this show was Therapy to me, and this scene was session one for me. I remember this line hitting too close too home when i first saw it.
"I am a perfectly nice guy and I have the focus group data to prove it." Jezus that's ... bleak. Always loved the self-involved, disconnected nonsense in that line.
Charlie: “Will?” Will: “What?” Charlie: “When was the last time you saw her?” Will: “I dunno, about three years ago.” Charlie: “COINCIDENTALLY, THAT’S THE LAST TIME YOU WERE A NICE GUY.” **Will walks out in a huff Waitress: “Would you like another, Mr. Skinner?” Charlie: **incredibly polite** “Yes, please.”
The implication here was that Charlie knew Mackenzie and her work personally but in the series finale it is shown that they had never met prior to him offering her the job. I think that was a little writing inconsistency.
Charlie knew Will still cared about her deeply, that's why he went on the long rant about MacKenzie's work history. Not because he knew her personally, but because he was trying to get Will to agree to Mac being his EP.

The amount of issues that are in the line "I'm a perfectly nice guy and I have the focus data to prove it" is what makes it hilarious.
Stands nicely against the S3 line:
"You have a PR problem because you have an actual problem. "
That "yes please" at the end was perfect.
The joy on Charlie's face when he says "No you've met her" and sees Will understanding is priceless.
"You were unreachable, only one other person knew where you were".
"THAT WAS YOU!"

When Will says "It was you!!" in that shocked, upset tone of voice...man, for me, that's one of the best moments of the series. So funny :)

Seeing Waterston play an out-of-control drunk after seeing him be so straight & sober on L&O is a treat
