- Will shows Mac a ring when Mac gets all crazy about a 5 years ago proposal from Fox.
We also have Maggie and Jim doing some obvious flirting
All Credit to Aaron Sorkin, HBO, and everyone else associated with this show.

I like the next part when he tells his therapist that he sent someone to buy that when he heard MacKenzie was doing opposition research. I LOL'd.
I like how the therapist breaks it down. He says, “buying the ring was not normal. I don’t know what else to call it, but it wasn’t normal.”
3D chess
I love that part more then showing her the ring. Just makes the ring part with her hurt a little more.
Smart fucker, he was….
"I wanted to see the penguins."
"Those are in the Antarctic."
"Lesson learned."
I would do the same thing, not gonna lie.
She's actually at a loss for words, for once, for cheating on him. Will actually found a way to shut her up. Priceless!!!! My favorite scene in the entire series.
So Mac says Will occasionally jams with Leonard Cohen and nobody is moved ?
"Diamonds, That'll Shut Her Up" -Ron White
For a minute.
Smooth the way he just pulled the ring out. Lmao. Loved this scene
This is my favourite scene in the series too. Just the look on Mac's face when she see's the ring is priceless. How actors can do the facial expressions so well when they must have done this scene so many times in rehearsals is amazing. I had a heart attack at the time of this series and it was the only thing that lightened my mood. Thanks Aaron Sorkin.
She just wanted something to remove the guilt, any excuse.
Did she just admit she was angry at him because she realized he was deceiving her even though she was deceiving him? Even if he wasn't actually deceiving her?
Bitches be trippin'
deceiveception
Yes.
Terry Crews!
God really touched and blessed Aaron Sorkin who in turn blessed us with this show that is even more relevant from 2020 to the present.
I loved the "and a ring appears"
Yes, but there was two boxes when he closed the draw in a close in shot. The purchase of the ring was just a cover up for the truth that he did had one
"But I've lived a life that's good... and pure...... " Poor Mac.
obliviouz She cheated, she never deserved Will.
Before he made it as a singer he was an accomplished poet and he just recently at the age of 76 came out with a new record.
There was a line the Times this year about Cohen.
"No one can sings like Leonard Cohen can't sing."
The look on Maggie's face at 00:19 is just priceless. She wants Jim so badly.
That’s a Boss move. Buy a ring just to one day make someone feel even more guilty.
you cut out the bit where he had the fresh bill in his hand ^^
Yeah. Real asshole
"you were deceiving me while i was deceiving you" Mac at her best
the ring is beautiful!
Yeah.... just way overpriced.
Not sure who's figures you want to believe but its quite ridiculous.
3:58 You could refract a laser beam through that thing! :D
Oh, that's good.
actually, fox's HQ is in NYC...as is ACN's. i'm saying, john gallagher is forgetting jim is not in LA (tho' john was), but NYC...a miniscule mistake :)
In this scene Daniels is really a monster 😅
I love Mac and Will
I need something I can use.😅😅
When Mack said Will is a registered Republican and the woman said “what!” as if it’s a horrible thing.
he try to score with an Eskymoo
He do write good songs, though. ; )
propane tanks don't blow up if you shoot them, real shit
Interesting description of yourself
Cheaters never prosper...with giant ass diamond rings! >:P
nope. the character of jim is in new york. he should have said, "fox offered him a ton of money in 2006 to GO to LA..." but the actor, john gallagher jr, who is shooting in LA a show that takes place in NYC, slipped and said, "...COME to LA." get it?

Haha Red Dawn Reference
I think its more a reference to Maggie mistaking Georgia the country for the state.
Oops.
Don's too good for Maggie.
obliviouz both of them were wrong for each other. Don isn't an innocent in the relationship either, he wasn't really sure where it was going and refused to meet her parents like multiple times. They weren't going anywhere.
The hell is this justification? "Putting off meeting her parents" = "publicly declaring her love for another guy"?
Lisa deserved better, also.
& now he has :)
oh come on I was really hoping he would just PROPOSE TO HER right then and there
theplantcantalk would you propose to someone who cheated on you? I'm disappointed Mr Sorkin shipped these 2.
I haven't seen this series, so maybe I'm misinterpreting the scene. Was it trying to say that the ring has been sitting in that drawer for 5 years? That's all he uses that drawer for? He didn't bring the ring home, or return it, just locked it in the drawer for 5 years?
There is an explanation for that. Watch the show. It's worth it.
@mobiz711 Yes, that _is_ the implication. Watch the show.
just watch the show dude
You will love the explanation
I have watched the show and so know about the therapist’s office scene but am still (mildly) irritated because (IMO) she would have asked him, “Why have you kept it (either at all -or- specifically in his office drawer) all these years?”
One doesn’t keep an outrageously expensive engagement ring handy unless they hope to use it sometime soon. In fact, I’d wager that heartbroken people wouldn’t want the constant reminder.
(I understand why Sorkin wanted it around, but that doesn’t answer the “Why didn’t she call him on it?” question.)
just noticed that jim says, "fox offered him a ton of money to *come* to LA..." they're supposed to be in new york. but it shoots in LA. the rare-for-sorkin "oops."
Fox, being the company offering the job is in LA. Thus, they wanted him to come to LA. He uses the term "come" to signify that they wanted him to stay in LA longterm.
"I've just heard something that I can't believe"
"Why don't you attack this woman"
So that's how to talk to a woman
But ive lived a life thats good and pure
It's weird rewatching this *after* seeing the end of Season 2, and specifically the argument they have where his "prank" with the ring comes up. You really get the full impact of how incredibly cruel he's being here, what an asshole he is.
Yes. He really just couldn't help but hurt her over and over again. When I think about it, though, I can't really blame the man. He was desperately in love with her-- she completely owned him and she betrayed him. Every moment in her presence would have hurt like hell and made him just a little crazy.
Sports night was lame though.
I can't believe anyone would want to jam with Leonard Cohen,
Leonard plays the guitar just a little better then he sings and if you heard him sing you know what I mean.
yep who bad do you hate me to do shit like this to think i save you form drug dealing killer the real WTF
We, of integrity, need to stand the fuck up... My new phrase is "I won't argue with you, I will bet you". BECAUSE I OWN THE FUCKING TRUTH.
Ahem...
Robert Porter These idiots that lie...let them place their bets... my bet is for them openly and fully admit how and why they are lying...and they fall silent?
Mackensie was the most annoying and grating character in the history of television. She also sucked at her job.
That was the dumbest scene I've seen so far. I just spent what~ 4k to tease her more?
Darin b Well Will is/was a millionaire, so that's nothing for him
Once; Millionaires don't like wasting money either.
Will doesn't care if it fucks with Mack, He straight gives up a million dollars off his yearly salary JUST for the ability to fire her at the end of each week if he wants.
That's what receipts are good for.
Love makes fools out of us all. By the way, the ring was closer in cost to 250K-- the fact that he bought it revealed he was driven by a subconscious impulse to propose to Mac. That he ripped up the receipt so he couldn't return it further cemented this truth. As far as Will was concerned, she was the only woman he could see as his wife, which he finally confessed to during the actual proposal, by telling her, "I'm going to be in love with you for the rest of my life... You own me, no matter what you say."
I can't believe no one got an Oscar nomination for this. Robbed.
Oscars are for movies - Emmy's and others are for TV series - there were lots of nominations but no wins - Robbed
I wish Sam could've at least got one, he's been robbed a lot.
