GOD bless you for taking the time to make these tutorials. I'm a beginner in scratching, got my turntables about a week ago and have no experience with scratching at all. These tutorials will be very helpful.
Hi guys, I've been extremely busy with different projects, gigs and private life and as a result I was not able to make new video's in the last two weeks. I'm back in the lab right now and the new video's are dropping asap! Thanks for the support and patience. TLM
Scratch Tutorial 2 (drops) was just uploaded, but i found an error that had to be corrected. The video is now being rendered again and will be uploaded later. Stay tuned!
I'm a very basic beginner, and these videos are gold. I watched them years ago and just started watching them again. These videos were one of my first stops when I first wanted turntables. that being said there are 2 things I would add upon this video. If your on DVS treat your needle with respect or the time code won't sync properly, and practice with both hands. I used a virtual third deck for the beat and put the practice sound on both of my turntables.
I didn't know that. I was practicing scratching with a DVS system and noticed that the needle kept skipping back. I think I was being a little too aggressive with the scratching.
Ik wil je bij deze hartelijk bedanken voor alles ! DE beste tutorials die je maar kan vinden, met een heleboel gratis samples en beats om te downloaden... PRACHTWERK ! Keep it up
TLM Your command of the English language is second to none my friend. The way you explain the tone and speed of your voice is , to someone learning for the first time absolutely spot on... in essence you make it very very easy to follow... keep up your amazing work God bless you fella.. greetings from England..
OHHHH WOW!!! THX DJ TLM, I BEEN WANTING TO LEARN TO SCRATCH FOR THE LONGEST, I HAVE MOTIVATION NOW, SINCE OTHER DJS WON'T SHARE THIS WITH ME IN PERSON FOR SOME REASON. THX A BILL
Here I am, 53, always been in music and djing now I'm learning to scratch from a guy on the internet....good times ;) Beautiful attitude and presentation, big up and subbed.
thank you dj tlm for sharing your knowledge this tutorial is very helpful this is the most datailed scratch tutorial i ve ever seen watching you from philipines
Man! You are so good at explaining things. Fantastic teacher. And it's so practical of thinking about people who wouldn't be having turntables, but only controllers or CDjs . Wow
Thank you DJ TLM, you really helped me learn scratching. I wouldn't have afford to go out and learn from a training and was really desperate to learn the scratching. I have strictly followed your instructions to go step by step and that really helped. Part 1 and Part 2 especially was highly effective and the best found in youtube for beginners for scratching.
Men I can't tell you how much i am glad that i came across to your tv men i have a lot of problems with learning how to dj properly but thanks to you i am improving .. thank you again
Hi, I just started to scratch few days ago on real vinyls. This is my first video of me having fun with the baby scratch. My First Scratch DJ TLM you are my teacher , really good skills and videos. Thanks a lot.
I just revisited this video just to make sure I’m doing everything correct after about three months of scratching. I started out with the controller, but I can’t imagine anybody is using a turntable with a competent needle & watching this unless they were gifted that setup!
Looks like im gonna binge watch all your videos. Im glad I found your channel, I am an absolute begginer at scratching, and I like the way you explain things. Awesome way to introduce someone to the art of scratching!
Hey whats up... Today is Day 1 learning to scratch. I have officially 1 year for a big show and I never scratched and I want to blow people away with skills... so this is my first step! Wish me luck!
Bro I'm from the UK and just wanna say I love you. I gave up my decks about 2 years ago after fifteen years. I lost my passion as the world has gone truly digital and I was stubborn. You make me realise that it's bullshit man. I am thinking of getting my Technics back out and using serato. Just to be that unique dj with tricks. There truly isn't many of us that do this in the market today. It's still something I feel can sell at festivals and it's just given me the kick again Anyway man. Big love and "Do the right thing" vinyl. Selection
I just got my PT-01,like i have it a day and i am constantly trying to get myself into it.Already one day straight i have worked enough for my hand to be in pain. A big thing i realised early on was that i was really hard on the vinyl,PT-01 has a plastic plater so when you pushing it makes a weird sound. It took me a while to realise i might have to decrease the weight i am putting on and start having light weighted moves on vinyl.I already had tons of inexperienced knowledge(i was watching tutorials two years now for this moment,no exaggeration) and i tried many technics.Once i tried them again with less weight on thongs changed a lot i was a lot more sharp i had better control over the disk and the sound sounded a lot more professional, like even for a bit i knew what i was doing. Hope i helped someone, thanks for the video it was nice and pretty informative.
Nice vid, thanks for sharing your knowledge! I've just started DJing in bedroom and scratching with hip hop beats. I think vinyl gives you the best environment and perfectly ergonomic platter size for scratching, and small controllers have jogwheels that are not motorized, so its hard to scratch on them. (Although it is not impossible)
Bro I know I’m like 7 years late in seeing this haha. But man. Great tutorial. Good explanations too, specific details too. I’m a beginner in scratching. Just starting to learn !
No, not specifically, but for the basic scratches you can use anything. Any turntable setup, controller or CDJ-like player will do. For turntables make sure they are direct drive turntables and for mixers just make sure they have a crossfader. There are more details, but I’ll make a video about that
Pretty awesome video actually his the way that you're going about this is literally as if you're teaching a brand new Drummer how to drum. And I'm a drummer so I find this pretty awesome.
I have an idea for the problem of knowing how far you need to take the record back. Like on some controllers, you have this on (mine) CDJs 350, too. For that you need to set the Cue right before the sound starts. Then you let the sound go and pull back the record. You need to do this a few times, and soon you become a feeling for how far you need to pull back the record. Very easy, you just need to practise.
Hey TLM am DJ YFrill from Zambia South-Central Africa i Play at a club but i use virtual DJ for now but letter i can get my self a small controller, your reasons are fantastic i only knew how to mix but with this i will learn more

Hi..i just started my very first lesson.. thank you for making such comprehensive video. You're a great teacher..
Great to hear that 👊🏽
I just revisited this video just to make sure I’m doing everything correct after about three months of scratching. I started out with the controller, but I can’t imagine anybody is using a turntable with a competent needle & watching this unless they were gifted that setup!
What do you mean? Do you mean that people don’t start with a turntable set as their first equipment unless they got a set as a gift?
i really love this guy! thanks bro from Italy
