    Stumbled across your vid while educating myself on the cassette toilet to see if I want to go with a black tank or cassette in an RV. Your opening was epic. From dropping the kids off to the turn and look back down before closing the lid, I was in tears laughing. Great video!!!

    Thank you so much. We have just used this enviro friendly method. It worked a treat on our cassette that we had used constantly for the last 3 and a half months. Happy days.

    Just a tip, try not to shake the cassette to much. It can damage or dislodge the float inside.

    Great! I hate that chemical smell. Glad we can use natural products. Its good to be responsible for our own waste.

    No male sooking about emptying it. I have never used them over the decades, yet I have the joy of emptying and cleaning it. Toughen up, young fella. A very good set of explanations on the how to of cleaning the thing.

    Well I have to say thanks for the video. However maybe not for the expected reasons! I started stripping the loo and found only 1 of the 6 screws holding the lip seal in place hadn’t broken from the top moulding, explains where the ‘fluid’ was leaking from in the toilet compartment. So thanks again. I now have the cleanest broken caravan loo!

    You’ve got a good wife right there Damo! For our family of 4 (I’m the minority male too!) emptying the toilet is most definitely a “blue” job (yup even though I don’t use it!) Looks like this may be a job for the weekend.. may show this video to my wife. Wish me luck 😬🤞

    When I follow your instructions the cassette overflows am I putting bicarbonate in to quick?

    • @venturingfour
      @venturingfour  Рік тому

      It could be the bicarbonate or it could be that you’ve mixed too much water and white vinegar. Just reduce it so that the cassette is only half to two thirds full and then add the bicarbonate. Hope that helps. 👍

    I broke mine trying to turn the top with the slider bit. I just got a piece of scrap wood in the end. Works every time. It cost me 50€ odd for a new top section. Otherwise good video.

    You should make a big point of WARNING the unwary to do all that outdoors and not inhale the fumes that the vinegar & bicarbonate of soda mix causes. That gas is carbon dioxide, which is a serious health and safety issue in enclosed spaces!

    • @petragris1947
      @petragris1947 2 місяці тому

      If this were true, then the carbon dioxide that all plants "exhale" at night would render the night air unhealthy. It might make you cough because you're not meant to inhale it--we're oxygen breathers--but it will not harm you in the least.

    theres another video where the owner cut a long piece of wood that would lay down between those tracks. This could be laid down and used to give more leverage to twist open the top.

    So like 3 days to clean this thing?

  • @petragris1947
    @petragris1947 2 місяці тому +1

    I just have to point out that the reaction of bicarbonate of soda + vinegar (acetic acid) = salt + water + CO2 gas. This means it's not actually doing any cleaning, it just looks like it is. You're rinsing with salt water. People get very excited by the fizzing, but it's chemically not doing anything to clean. Sorry, people who've studied chemistry ruin everything. haha!

    For a second.....and only for a second that is.....I thought you were doing some sort of spoof of transmitting from the International Space Station and the camera would pan to the right and reveal the stunning curve of the Earth and blackness of the cosmos......
    Alas.....it was not to be
    Informative as ever and lots of toilet humour....

    That was absolutely minging. It needed a gallon of petrol and a match not a clean. There is no reason the cassette shouldn’t look brand new all the time. Only requires 10 mins cleaning at the end of each trip. It must have stank in the RV. I feel like I’m gonna throw up.

    • @venturingfour
      @venturingfour  4 роки тому +6

      We’re full time travellers on the road and have been for 1 year. No chance of cleaning it after each trip here!! We carry a spare as well as they get used that much. These toilets cassettes cost $250. Wouldn’t be a cheap exercise if I was to burn them 😂🤣. We just do what we gotta do 🤢🤮🤣
