Hi Martin thanks for another good demonstration all these tips come in very handy I watch all these and when something needs doing my Husband looks as if to say how does she know that and I end up explaining how to do it 😂😂😂
One great tip Martin, don’t use the slider to unlock/lock the cassette. Cut a piece of quarter inch ply about 10 inch long. It stops the grooves getting damaged.
Hi Colin, top tip there. The slider is not the ideal way to do it as it can easily slip out of the runners, the cover is quite difficult to get off! Thanks for comments and watching, Martin 🙂
Nice one, my cassette is the old type, the new ones are a lot smaller...this is another job Ineed to do at some point...your giving me more jobs than my wife does lol.
Great video. The newer model is so much easier to work on. I had a problem with the blade not locating against the seal and had to work on it via the hole and repair it mostly by feel. Looking forward to seeing your next video. I know it’s belated but Happy New Year to you and your family.
You were lucky. The curved part is supported by 3 lugs and one was broken when l opened it and being clumsy l broke another. Had to buy whole top unit which was £50 including the seal. As is normal l had already bought a seal cost £25 from a caravan dealer. Expensive.
I always look forward to these lovley winter jobs. This year is only a clean and lube. Thanks Martin, whatching this vid was a good reminder. What did you use for cleaning? Regards Mike.
Hi Martin just noticed u on 1000subscribers brilliant news u deserve it for the effort u put in well done have a pint on me fab video on changing lip seal at when I need to change mine I only gotta watch your video step by step now nice one mate .kev
Hi Oliver, it tows really well and very stable. It took us a while to get the loading correct for noseweight but we have it sorted now. Cheers Martin 👍
Thanks Martin, tried to take the unit off, but mine seems not wants to turn, worried I would damage if I forced it, is there anything you need to do other than use the handle/ cover, hope the weather warms up 🌞🌞
Hi Pat & David, yes mine was difficult to get off, I left that bit out of me trying to turn it and swearing at it! A bit of force and ignorance did it! Looking forward to warmer weather! Thanks for comments and watching, Martin 👍
Get a flat piece of wood longer than the plastic slider, but the same depth and width - place this in the gap and use the extra length of the wood to provide more leverage and avoid damage to the plastic tracks either side :)
any idea why with new PCB controller board on C250 worked then didn't then worked again briefly but nothing again since? Fuse checked OK and seen on another video to put 12 volts directly on PCB block to test pump but not sure how to do that, any suggestions?
It's also worth mentioning that if you have the previous model cassette and you're looking for that access hatch on the top, there isn't one, there are 6 screws on top of the sliding mechanism and you replace it from the top, same seal just a different way of replacing it
Hi Martin, the white bit attached to the mechanism that opperates the blade is missing on mine, what does it do, and is a part that can be bought or is there a work around.
Hi David, I think it’s the part that stops the blade spinning all the way round, is this it? let me know how you get on. www.leisureshopdirect.com/water/caravan-toilet/thetford-cassette-toilets/thetford-c-250-cassette-toilet-and-spares/thetford-c250-c263-s-cassette-toilet-saddle
Hi Martin. I have a question regarding. Cassette toilets. Someone told me they use Aldi bio tablets instead of blue in the toilet cassette have you any information on this as quite a few people seam to use them ?
Hi Paul, not heard of this before but just looked it up. A lot of people using them, a few saying they don’t kill bacteria. Some say use them but now and again put blue in. It’s a cheaper alternative, give it a go. Cheers Martin 😊
The Caravan Nut thanks Martin for the quick reply.think i will give it go.if it works could save a few quid and weight in the caravan. Cheers mate have a good week 👍
Hi Martin. Update on Aldi bio tablets instead of blue.Been away in the caravan for 14 nights. Used the bio tablets 5 times and and the blue twice. And the tablets work fine 2 tablets per cassette. Looking like saveing some money and weight of blue fluid.👍
Hi Paul, thanks for getting back to me, sounds interesting I will look at doing a vlog on this. Like the idea of saving money and weight in the van. Have a good weekend. Cheers, Martin 😊
Great Vlog. I have been caravanning for 6 years and I learnt something new there.
Cheers Mark, I learnt the inside of the cassette wasn’t as clean as I thought it would be! 😂 Thanks for watching, Martin 👍
Excellent! Logical and clearly explained. Thank you!
Thanks for watching 🙂
I have to replace the lipseal. Thanks for showing in detail how this is done.
Glad the vlog helped, cheers

Thanks Trev, I’ll come and do it for you!! 👍
You may regret that offer Martin 😂😂 Anything requiring protective gloves 🧤 is a bit of a worry. Where is my jet wash? 😂😂
Don’t want to jet wash might be covered in poo!! 😂😂

Hi, When I did it I wasn’t sure it was correct so took it apart again, edited that out! Happy new year to you. Thanks for watching, Martin 👍

It’s not the easiest of jobs, suppose it’s built well though!
Great video was finding waste wee as if it was leaking when removing cassette from van just replaced seal hope this stops the issue cheers
Hi Paul, glad the vid was helpful and hope it solves the problem. cheers Martin
Did it?
I always look forward to these lovley winter jobs. This year is only a clean and lube. Thanks Martin, whatching this vid was a good reminder. What did you use for cleaning? Regards Mike.
Hi Mike, I’ve put a few jobs off as it’s too cold. To clean the parts off I just used water. For the cassette thetford cleaner. Thanks for watching 👍
Hi Martin just noticed u on 1000subscribers brilliant news u deserve it for the effort u put in well done have a pint on me fab video on changing lip seal at when I need to change mine I only gotta watch your video step by step now nice one mate .kev
Hi Kev, will be having a few pints this weekend! Thanks for comments and support as usual. Martin 👍
Hi Martin. Quick question, how do you find towing the Valencia? Does it snake feel unstable at all? Just wondering about single axle’s. Cheers Oliver
Hi Oliver, it tows really well and very stable. It took us a while to get the loading correct for noseweight but we have it sorted now. Cheers Martin 👍

I now have some wood to do that job, cheers

Check the connection from the PCB board to the plug that connects the board. Ours has come lose a few times.
It's also worth mentioning that if you have the previous model cassette and you're looking for that access hatch on the top, there isn't one, there are 6 screws on top of the sliding mechanism and you replace it from the top, same seal just a different way of replacing it
Cheers for that, not having done a seal on the older one that’s great information. Thanks for comments 👍
