Beautiful video! Just a quick reminder. Lowering your ISO too much can actually reduce your dynamic range. I came across a couple of UA-cam videos discussing this for iPhones, and they both reached the same conclusion. The most practical ISO level for iPhones is around 1600, where noise can be easily cleaned up in post-production, and you still retain maximum dynamic range.
The things that's pulling most of the weight is that hdr log setting not bc it makes the picture look nice cause it doesn't, but bc it allows the footage to be editing in more detail. And that 25fps pulling some of the weight too
Dude! Thanks so much for sharing. I was thinking about professional grips like Fjorden or SnapGrip but struggled with the price. Your video made me realize I already have the Manfrotto clamp and started using it right away. Also layed my eyes on the Sandmarc lenses now.
Wonderful footage!!!! I notice that you used a step-up ring to connect your 52mm Urth filter to Sandmarc telephoto lens. May I ask if I buy a 43 mm filter, do I need a step-up ring as an adapter as well?
I actually purchased the 43mm filter for this reason, thinking, "oh, it's going to fit perfectly!" However, what I realized, after it arrived, is that since the 43mm filter fits the lens perfectly, the lens will see the bezel that holds the glass of the nd, so what I see on screen is a perfect circular vignette on my footage. I'm actually in the process of exchanging it for the 52mm with step-up as he's done here, so hopefully you won't make the same mistake.

Omg you’re a gem for this. Thank you so much, I literally know nothing about filmmaking so this is super super helpful.
Hi! This video is just wonderful. Tell me, please, have you achieved the effect of the film using LUT or the Dehancer program?
@@primovictoria289 there’s so many factors on what makes a film look loke a film. Even some of those youtube videos saying “film” emulation are not truly film. So i guess it’s really subjective. I like using dehancer though for certain type of work.
@@vedroelcitra thanks
Hello! Which specific step up ring did you use? Great video!
@@AVA-vx6vy random ebay find
Great vid and beautiful footage!
Did you use a mist filter at any point?
How did you manage with the battery? I have a PRO but was wondering whether I should switch to a MAX
I'm going to Japan in less than two weeks. Any tips for off-the beaten track locations?
Thank you!
no filter other than VND. The battery is good for traveling, so no worries at all. Enjoy your trip! just stop at any random train station and you'll find a good experience :)
@@vedroelcitra thanks for the quick reply!
@@vedroelcitra Hey sorry. Have another couple of questions. So the sandmarc lens has a regular threading and can fit any filter, right? it's not proprietary?
Then I wanted to ask you when buying a VND what is the range of stops that I should I get to be able to shoot in full sun outside keeping shutter at 180°
Thank you!
@@vedroelcitra Hey there. I'm back for another question. I managed to find a used sandmarc wide and vnd, which was really cool. unfirtunately i didn't find a tele, which i really wanted. I wanted to ask you if you've bumped into shop that sell them over in Japan?
thx again!
@@davidpowerfns I got it shipped from US, not sure if you can find one in japan. Look at the marketplace
I was not ready for the footage! This is amazing!
Hi there! I was wondering if it would be possible to recreate a similar style but in another application different from Black magic? Thank you for the great and informative video! You have really inspired me!
It's possible as long as you can control the exposure manually while shooting on prores log. But I don't know any other app, let me know if you find one.
I guess I was referring to something like Filmic pro, Sorry I’m still new to this so if not I totally understand. Thanks for the reply!
@@LucyNguyen-g6m you can use, allbeit you need to pay subscription. BM is free :)
if you don't mind can you please link all of the gears you used? I only got the lens but kinda confused on the rest =S
Love it! can i also use a 43mm ND or does it make a difference in the end if do not pick the 52mm ND with the step up ring?
@@Jonkhua i would say so, no difference. But some says you will see a bit of vignetting if you use 43. Although I haven’t tried myself
This is beautiful and inspired me to start filming! I have a question though. I bake the LUT straight to the footage however when I export the files to my computer, I am only getting a flat video with no LUT. Do you know how to resolve this? (I can see the LUT applied when viewing videos downloaded on my phone just not on the computer or any other application). ~Thanks
@@ToanLam-j6r you need to activate Record Lut in Videos or something
great video! what did you set the motion stabilization to? my footage is always so jittery :/
I used Standard, the cinematic and extreme make the monitor lagging
So is this a product one can purchase, or only a demo of your personal kit? I’d love to get myself the camera attachment
Incredible footage! Thank you so much for sharing your set up! Cheers for being such an amazing artist! :)
🙏
Hi, I know that you put the product titles in the video but can you please send me the specific links so I don't accidentally buy the wrong size. Sorry, I tend to doubt myself a lot when I purchase things.
Unfortunately, I don't have any affiliate links, you can check the marketplace to see what is available in your region.
do you have a list of links to all the gear for this setup? and how do you handle storage?
all those settings will get into this beautifull footage? Or this is also heavily edited?
@@Tidges01 you can drop my free LUT and you’ll get this kind of look, too! Easy :)
I didn’t know like it method for recording memory
It helped! Thank you!!
Does this set up work just as well on iPhone 14 Pro Max ? (Great tutorial)
@@andrewporter6352 yes but 14 doesnt have prores log so you need to tone down the lut when you edit
What is the name of the song you use in the demo reel. It’s incredible.
