Gates are connected like this GATE_XX_YY : DISCONNECTED, XX_YOUR ROOM : GATE The gate tag at the end is important as it basically tells the game to run the gate opening and closing sequences and its lock value. Lock values are the requirements for the player to pass through the gate. Also the disconnected is not rendered in game but still important. The text files and png's for gates are to be put in a folder called gates in the world folder for your region, this is also where your locks.txt file (the file that sets your lock values) should be. To set your gates lock values : 1. Create a locks.txt file in your gates folder 2. Do the formatting below GATE_XX_YY : 1 : 2 The values 1 and 2 can be replaced up to 5 and represent the karma you will see Eg. GATE_XX_YY : 3 : 5 means that it requires 3 karma entering from the left and 5 karma exiting from the right. Happy region making !

You DON'T put the locks.txt file in "modname/world/gates". You need to put it in "modname/modify/world/gates" and put [ADD] at the start. Putting it in "modname/world/gates" will OVERRIDE the existing locks.txt file, which will make ALL other gates (including vanilla ones!!) nonfunctional.
As someone who was severly traumatized by the original rw level editor i can comfortably say that this video is a live saver for anybody looking to get into region modding. Thank you🙏.

The region lease is a spreadsheet that contains the acronym of every region with the region's name and author. This is because if two regions use the same acronym, they'll be COMPLETELY INCOMPATIBLE. So after you have an acronym that doesn't conflict with anything on the lease, you can put it on the lease. You can find the lease by searching or asking for it in the modding academy discord or in the modding channels in the rain world discord. Another thing: ive heard that the lease has actually completely filled up recently. You check if thats the case, and if it is just wait for an abandoned region purge or for more slots to be added. Also, general advice, keep your scope down. Scope creep is very easy to do with regions. Don't start with a 4 region expansion, don't start with an iterator. Not only does that save some slots on the lease but also your futute suffering.

Although it was already stated, the official level editor is fine enough, just janky as hell at times but it does the job for most of the part (aside some few gimmicks), like needing to use the numpad's 8-4-6-2 with numeric lock on to move around the view lol (and others) Also the guide has been very helpful so far honestly, it's really just easier to process tbf
i had the same error, im pretty sure its because instead of doing END ROOMS they did ENDROOMS, its ment to be spaced out :D same with END CREATURES im pretty sure. if not i have no idea but thats what fixed mine.

1. Game doesn’t care if it is in lowercase or not. 2. You’re missing gaps in your text files such as ENDROOMS (should be END ROOMS). 3. The official editor isn’t a bad editor in itself. It’s the most capable editor being that it was made by the devs themselves, there’s also the community editor which is a mod for the official editor which fixes bugs and adds tweaks to the editor. It’s also the base of all editors and most compatible. Its only downsides are that it is built on a dead engine and runs poorly, and a steep learning curve. I will admit that I do have a soft spot for the editor as it was the only editor back in the day and I’m one of the creators of the community editor.

To anyone having the "realizing" error with warp menu. I accidently wrote ENCREATURES instead of ENDCREATURES in world_XX and was getting the error. When i fixed it, it also fixed the error. It might be a similar issue with others so idk.

Good video!!! The gate connections... the same happened to me a long time ago, and if I remember correctly what I did was checking the gate settings. There should be a file named something like gate_xx_yy_settings.txt, where xx connects with xy, and that file should be in the folder called 'gates', located in 'world' folder. In the same 'gates' folder, there is the 'egates.txt', that represents the connections between the regions, and the 'locks.txt' that represents the karma levels for the gates, ranging from numbers 1-5 if I remember correctly, the 1 being the lower karma level. Sorry if it's too confusing, I tried my best remembering it; the last thing I searched about level creation is the implementation of custom props in RWE+, because I tried modifying the innit file, and they do actually appear, but the colours are messed up
the warp mod used in this video crashes my game, what else can i use to get into my region's room (the only other warp mod doesnt work the way this one does)
This is entirely subjective. I personally enjoy RWE+ because all of the other ones have something i dislike. Although i haven't tried henry or rained yet

How do I stop it from crashing? The gate is functional and shows me the karma level but when it is in the middle of the animation it crashes

OP, you should pin a comment with corrections. **You need a space in END ROOMS and END CREATURES, otherwise the region will break.**

Rained
OGRWE (mayhemmm’s version of RWE+)
RWE (community edition)
