A previous version of this video included a remark that was deemed unnecessary and in poor taste. We would like to apologize to the community for the misjudgment made.
What was the remark?
so curious !
@@Dan-wq8id So communicative. Lol.
@@afvro75 search below for a comment about JFK
I lost respect for you removing the comment. Watch people are so "stick up your @". It was a JFK joke. Own it. You did it.
It is probably faster, easier, and cheaper to get a Daytona by winning the 24 Hours of Daytona than it is to get on an AD waitlist.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
they don't even accept a waitlist anymore
😂😂😂
Rolex scarcity is very well manufactured which creates the demand
My buddy did exactly this. 2004.
Love the Daytona, just picking my time :-). Great video and appreciate the research, production and delivery. It takes us 7 mins to watch this video but many, many hours to produce. Thank you!
Excellent video as usual. Facts delivered without waffle.
great information 👍👍well done
Hi there
Can you give me some advice as regards to buying a Daytona ( Paul Newman ) oysterflex May 2022, hardly worn for £31.500 pounds, is that a good price & is it a good investment.
Thank you
I'm waiting for the new Rolex Wait-Master, the watch you wear so you can time your wait list for the watch you actually want 😆
😂
That's funny
Wait Master or Unobtainium
$200 USD in 1963 adjusted for inflation is just south of $2K today. The Crown doesn’t offer anything in that range - I don’t think the Shield does, either. Rolex put a lot of work into their in-house movement so I’m glad it gets some appreciation.
If Rolex reissue a steel Paul Newman dial Daytona with a modern design, I can only imagine how crazy prices would get.
They won’t
Man predicted the future 😮👁️🪬
6th thing you should know… is the lug size on the crown side of a Daytona watch is smaller than the opposite… a thing to look out for when it comes to fakes
You have great style and those new glasses are killer but that JFK joke....
Is now a good time to buy or should I wait?
The Daytona is extremely attractive to the eye, something that sells high.
What’s the point of publishing prices that are completely off?
5 things to know before buying a Daytona:
1. You can't get one
2. You can't get one
3. You can't get one
4. You can't get one
5. You can't get one
Did I forget anything?
You can get one whenever you want - just have to pay the prevailing price :)
@Russell Denney Yeah that's kind of my point, I refuse to pay grey market prices so I'll just wait forever for one at retail price from as AD.
@@jeffroutledge9153 I just bit the bullet and bought one today. I'll make the money somewhere else - side hustle is kickin' butt right now. But I totally understand...
@Russell Denney Cool. I just finally got a new Sub for retail after a 2 year wait. Love it but I really want a Daytona too. Can I ask what you paid for it?
@@jeffroutledge9153 Every bit of $35,000 for an unworn specimen. It can be found a little cheaper but prefer to do business with a dealer I trust. It still ends up being less expensive than playing the purchase game with ADs. I bit the bullet because I am afraid they are going to release a new, larger model and the price on these will go up even more. 40mm is perfect for me. Congrats on the sub!
Ok - does anyone know the supposed 'celebrity' that purchased THE Paul Newman .... since he couldn't say it in the video. My Daytona - 116500LN Black face
Wish I could have my nephew back but he's in the heavens above and my roller went with him idk if I will ever own another one...
116500LN in 2016 was not the first Daytona with Cerachrom bezel. That was the 116515LN in 2011. Then the Platinum 116506 in 2013.
3:18 anyone know who he’s talking about?
Just picked up a brand new one for 34k cdn
Wish your site did not require your installing a tracker on anybody visiting.
I guess I have 20 years to learn about these 5 things !
I think the two Tone will come Witz a ceramic bezel.
Kennedy get's one hell of a headache ??? Is this a joke ? Sounds tasteless...
I always loved this watch, then in 1981 I bought one.
I even opted for the jubilee bracelet instead of the oyster.
Under one thousand dollars tax included.
When I got home I realized it wasn’t a chronometer so I returned it for a GMT master. It’s been with me all these years I love it.
But I should never have returned the Dayton.
For around two grand vi could have had them both.Big mistake.
I’ve waited 25 years for one then I started playing the AD game (and made a huge mistake passed on a meteorite Pepsi gmt). Just gave up and bought one “the Ghost” on the secondary market
Lol
@@fernandovital4981 what’s so funny about that? Got the watch barely over MSRP at 36. A steel one is 38
Pepsi GMT is very rare. You basically passed up arguably No.2 on the list in search for the grail Daytona.
Blows me away that the Steel Gold is the least expensive. That’s like premium gas being less expensive than regular
White and yellow gold are undervalued at the moment. Definitely the better buy
@@dankmheems290 I agree. I’m stoked i decided to buy the Ghost
Do you know whats you can expect to get on the secondary market? My AD called and told me the rolex I orignally wanted for someone else is here. Its the bright black and golden set with diamonds
I begrudgingly have to admit the Daytona is the best chronograph. It checks all the boxes for me. 40mm. Thin case size 100m WR. 12hr counter and the subdial layout. I wish a company could make something with those specs and be somewhat available.
6th Thing: Look at the Seiko "Seitona." LOL.
How much is Daytona retail price ?
$15,100 USD
Pay the Pieper and be done with it, life’s too short not to…
Oh we should take advice from a retailer 😆 🤣 😂
Me watching this with $7 in my bank account ..
People who sell stuff on a website and say it is impossible to get at retail are highly biased and not correct. Someone has to get them.
I got a GMT after 10 months and am brand new to watches. Don't pay double markup on a new watch. Work it a little and pay retail. Don't be an ass. Be likeable. Be enthisiastuc and know something about the prodrct that fits you and let that info out in your conversation.
Rumor has it that Rolex bought the Paul Newman Daytona, to inflate the value of Rolex overall ;) 🤫
Does anyone know was it Jerry Seinfeld that bought the 17m Daytona.I own a new GMT and bought it at retail and also own a 1986 sub that was a gift but for anyone that has not held the Daytona in their hand it doesn't really justify even the retail price over the GMT.If you hold both in your hand the Daytona feels so much more of being the cheaper watch and as well most people would be surprised just how small it feels compared to the GMT or Sub. For me the best looking Rolex in person is the sub bluesy with steel and gold but when I was shown the GMT that I could take home right then I couldn't get out of there fast enough and count my blessings. The GMT pepsi is a much better everyday watch over the Daytona or bluesy sub.Funny thing though people rave about the Rolex buying experience and I disagree .When you leave the store you feel like your sort of buying someones love if that makes any sense.
Wrong pic for 116520
rolec
This is my dream watch, but I know I’ll never in my life be able to buy one from an AD. I have my name on a list for an OP which maybe I’ll get in 2 or 3 years. But I’ve completely accepted I’ll never own a Daytona
Everything is possible
Pôle !
From the comments.. it seems as if rolex customer service is poor. Why buy any of their watches?
Surely this should be 2040….this will be the time my name might come up on the list…..
There is no list.
The bottom line..is anyone watching this video wont be able to by ANY Daytona especially the Anniversary version.
2 times retail is NOT a buyers market.
Good video but poor form on the Kennedy joke…
First thing to know is you cant get one for love nor money you forgot that
Hi Patrick Bateman
5 things to know:
1. You can't buy it straight from the AD/Boutiques
2. Second hand prices are nonsense
3. Overrated as fuck
4. Omega Speedmaster exists, more affordable and better than the Daytona
5. Zenith Chronosport exists, more affordable and better than a Daytona
Oh boy .. 5 things to know before winning the lottery... Yeah, tell me! 🙄
A little strange if AD sells a used Rolex for more than a new they sell too 😂😂😂😂😂.
Note you can use her in the scientific community to measure a speed of an object using the proper conversions. Looking at the tach, its units /hr is your baseline over a set distance of one unit (ex. 1 mile. 1 meter, 1 foot, ect). Yes you can use her in the scientific community. But the accuracy is so-so.😅😅😅
Should I buy a ROLEX
DAYTONA 116505 BRAND NEW B&P 2022 IVORY DIAL? Been offered it for £45000. Let me know your thoughts on whether it is a good investment or not. Thanks
I cannot wait for a Rolex smartwatch
"And the year that John F Kennedy gets one hell of a headache." Is it just me or is that joke not exactly in good taste...
same reaction...
It was HORRIFIC. See my comment above. Shameful!
Lol don’t get your panties in a bunch
@@JackoWillMakeLives-loveu I think you probably should get your panties in a bunch about a joke that distasteful.
Totally. Cringey and tasteless.
Very inappropriate the JFK reference and unAmerican. You’ve hit a new low.
I'm curious, how does the war in Ukraine contribute to the decrease in cost for the Daytona?
Creates greater economic uncertainty. Economic uncertainty creates a small mini-panic to unload overpriced luxury goods as cash is king. Price trend reverses. Would argue the crypto crash had a greater impact on price reversals than Ukraine tho.
1. Wait 6 months
Years
I would have gave 12 mil for the Paul Newman
Another video with loosely goosey use of the term “gray”. Gray market watches are watches with unactivated warranties direct from ADs looking to offload excess inventory at wholesale prices. Rolex and most other manufacturers cracked down on gray market by taking away AD status or going boutique only. The gray market is almost gone, especially for Rolex and Patek What’s left is the USED market. Except dealers dont like that term because it devalues their product.
I can get all most any Rolex watch I went, I know Rolex watch dealer that has big account with Rolex and that individual can get me all most any Rolex watch... People don't have a clue about what its takes get to become a Rolex watch dealer.... Its take lots of money to open Rolex account and the dealer has to make so many sells a year to become big dog in Rolex watch would....
zzzzzzzzzzzz.......
who pays 35k for a standard mass-produced chronograph?
i’ve just inherited a gold 6265, no need for me to buy any modern Daytonas….modern ones are just too overhyped n overpriced..
Aka you can't afford one
BTW Berliner Luft is the cheapest, most tramp drink in Germany, 🤣
Rolex shmolex.
1 - You can't.
Looks like a cheap Pagani knockoff!
it was Ellen DeGeneres
1. You can’t
I just got mine after two years on the waitlist.
I finally gave up and ordered a fake Rolex 😆
Be patient. I just picked mine up after two years on the waitlist.
Why would anyone want a Daytona? Nothing makes you look more basic...
Everybody who got money from a job which does not require high cognitive effort, has no clue about watches and wants to be recognized as a Rolex-owner from a distance of 100 meters.
@@dirkprivat5106 then those same plebs will try to convince you that it’s rare, when it’s actually mass-produced, and you can see a dozen on the wrists of men and women at any cocktail party during art Basel… Cost so much, just to look like everyone else.
I bought one last week.
not for brokies like yourself. Stay with your Invicta brokie
@@structurescience I got my last year..My AD called me on my birthday just birthday present ever!
The JFK “joke?” is in unbelievably bad taste. If Chrono24 has any business sense whatsoever, it will pull this video and edit it out.
Daytonas are for HERBS!
This video is just general information and nothing you don't need to know before purchasing. Not helpful and a waste of time!
Meh. Hard pass on the Daytona.
Daytona getting stale…lol😂
Hideous Watch!
First thing: it's overrated.
Please stick to watches. Leave economics to the real finance folks.
Rolex are a great iconic watch and history ratings...but none of them I mean any are worth the money market is a scam
Just for your understanding- deleting comments is utterly pathetic.
They are too small and that's all I need to know. I'll stick with my Speedy's, thanks.
5 things to know before buying a Rolex Daytona:
1. Rolex is trash and market for noobs watchers.
2. Your money and time are no good
3. No inventory
4. Rolex support scouters.
5. Spend your money on companies that cares about you.
Buying Rolex you’re only paying for name and status, buy a pagani design with a seiko movement, better and more reliable than rolex for under $100
