I danced the '80s away at night and perfected making chocolate from scratch during the day.
Which I then experimented with perfecting the most decadent treats, desserts truffles for our feast and even developed an over the top dark chocolate therapeutic body treatment.
It was definitely a decadent decade of dancing, going to the gym, the clothing, everything was decadent and to the excess.
Prince and Madonna made wearing underwear as outerwear, lux fabric and excessive jewelry. Hair!
Yes, Sex, Drugs, Rock n Roll Dancing & Super Dark Chocolate regenerating our skin.
Yes Chef John, I'd say we all did all EnJoy it and had Fun.
Thanks again for these very entertaining and informative cooking demonstrations.
Love the way you play with words .

KEH
Let’s go Brandon
Day 1: I hate the way he talks. Day 2: I love the way he talks!
He definitely grew on me!
Hahaha i HATED the way he talked. Now i like it.
Hes done a metric f ton for the cooking community
@Johnny Metonymic
I think you'd,
Have to write it.
In the rhythm.
That he naturally
Has,
As he is explaining.
How to do
What he is demonstrating.
Plus
You have to leave spaces
In between
Words .
Because he has a musical
Way of speaking.
Bwahahah
Well that is my attempt to write it the way he might speak it.
I know it's Silly.
But I couldn't resist trying.
Lol.

Las Kay Hehehehe
@Johnny Metonymic Yikes! I wouldn't go that far!!! 😌🍴
Your humor always makes me day.
Aye aye matey!

I don't remember the 80's because of all the coke. I used to drink lots of soda back then.
Lol, coke!
Lol, coke!
Lol, coke!
meh, pepsi.
Lol, coke!
John, I have been watching your cooking videos for the past 5 hours, which I should've been doing homework...
I haven't eaten the entire time
I think I'm dying
Hobotron hes feeding your soul
Sue Him... LOL
You like chef John, you love him and wanna have like 10,000 of his babies. Join the club!
Honestly, same.
@@julesgainey9677 Only 10000? Pathetic!
I've been holding onto this recipe for the right time. A nice coworker agreed to cover my weekend shift so I can enjoy a full vacation so I think he deserves this. :D
We used to make this exact recipe at the Sheraton of Potomac back in the 80's. I was the pantry cook at the time and made half a dozen a week.
I heard that making something like this would get me lai....lots of compliments! ;)
Yes, yes it would. Lots of oral praise, too.
100% yes
I remember this from an old Valentine's special Foodwishes recipe :D
+69adrummer Your comment + name seems to sum up a lot about you.
The old tappa tappa?
I recommend replacing the flour for the pan with cocoa powder instead.
This was the first dessert I have ever made. Did it today with 70% cacao and turned out just fine! Thanks chef, your way of tutoring has made me the Hemingway of my own recepie book.
"If you don't remember the 80s because you're too young or if you don't remember the 80s because of the 80s" Lmao - this is why I subscribed.
I came for the amazing cooking tips. I stay for the commentary.
Can you narrate my life?
Making this today for my moms 50th birthday! Thank you!
The last bit with the dusting of powdered sugar made me think of being young and drawing using the Paint program on the computer, you know the horribly slow spray can feature..... :-D
Thanks for taking one for the team and whisking by hand. You're the best.
EXACTLY... 14-15 minutes. Gotta love a chef Jon
I find your voice very soothing
Chef John doesn't make deserts very often, but when he does, he goes all in. Good work boss.
ONE MILLION people are as loco as I am for wanting more Chef John videos!!
Most beautiful freaking slice I've ever seen
I had this at a restaurant.... super intense but melt in your mouth goodness. You don't even have to chew it.
Side Note: Your gonna be a platinum club boss in about a day or two. When I see the 1 million mark I'll be sure to come back with congratulatory wishes! You definitely deserve it!!!!
"The ooold shake-a shake-a" never gets old! Also like"the ooold tap-a tap-a"... I think those are my favorite chef John's quotes...
In order to make my chocolate dishes more chocolatey I add some instant espresso powder. Not so much that it tastes like coffee but it really bumps up the chocolate flavor. I learned that it had to be instant espresso powder or else there would be bitter coffee ground in the food an the dish would be ruined. Love your channel. Can't wait to see more!
hey, sorry for digging this up. But do you mix it into the egg or the chocolate and butter mixture? Thx
@@G0dlol I think it would make more sense to put it into the chocolate and butter mixture, dunno though.
I know it's been a long time, but what about instant regular coffee?
@@G0dlol treat it as as dry ingredient, at least that’s what my head chef told me years ago. Then again he learned to cook back in the 80s if you get what I mean.
@@UBvtuber it can work but not nearly as well, use a bit more than you would expresso
So, I said that the raspberry sauce turned me on a little, but it doesn't compare to that plating at the end. The white, red, and chocolate just combine so perfectly. It might just be because it's 2am, but that plating is immaculate.
Love your food videos. You make them look simple, and most of them are. I have also learned that I don't have a fully equipped kitchen, but someday.... Thanks, again!
I just want his silpats.
I want those, too! Anything that's non-stick is also easy clean-up. That's my kind of cooking!
JChaos1120
I've been looking all over for those where I live. The only thing I found were these flimsy silicone papers that work, but are really really annoying and hard to clean.
My initial response is Amazon, but I think you're out of luck if you're not in the US.
Great video! Your voice and tone are very easy to follow. Like how there's no slow monotonous voice droning on. Great personality.
I skipped dinner last night watching your food videos, and here I am again, eating lunch at my desk, watching more...
Congratulations on going over a million subs, Chef John, love that! ^5

Happy 1,000,000 subscribers Chef John! You deserve it! I have been following you for years and think you are by far the best source for cooking advice and entertainment on the internet! All the best!
the way you talk makes me smile
I've have actually never made any of these recipes...I just love watching the videos.
Make some! I've made a bunch of them and plan to make a lot more. I've also adapted his ideas into my own existing recipes, with great results. The videos are great to watch, CJ is super entertaining but believe me, making the recipes is just as good. :)
Chef John, here's a kiss for you on valentine's day for sharing this utterly decadent recipe. XX
Everyone loves to hear you talk! I do too but the recipes are also great and the way you present executing them is always clear and concise. Love this channel.
Me at 11pm: ok, just 1 more video, then I'm going to bed
Me at 3am: (half asleep) gggiivvee mmeee sssoooommmeeee
This may need to be my Valentine's Day gift to myself.
I don't remember the 80s, because of the 80s. But I think I had a great time :)
It took UA-cam 8 years to show me this. It looks delicious. I was around in the 80's, don't remember this, maybe I was living in a too remote location.
We made this at the restaurant I worked at except no flour at all, perfect for those gluten free
I did this with the sauce for my father's 60 years birthday. It was planned 2h before the dinner on the parking lot at the store. Remembered this video from the chocolate compilation. Pjuh! Used 400g 40% chocolate and 100g 70%. Still very heavy and some extra sugar since they were not sweet. The raspberries were frozen expect the ones for presentation. The frozen ones tasted ofc great but wanted it thicker. If possible thaw them in advance or maybe add some gelatin. The lemon packed a punch. Beware. Sliced the cake in to 16 pieces. Perfect amount! Very heavy. Went with 14min. 12 is best, outer edge was softly dried. Will make again!
oh my god, i just tried this recipe and it was so so so SO GOOD OMG. literally one of the best things that i've eaten/baked in a while. might've been a liiittle overcooked, but it still came out awesome! thanks chef John!
I'm making the commitment to make this for the hubsy this Valentine's Day. Bring on the raspberry sauce!
My god that looks heavenly! My landlord is replacing my oven this week, and this is what I'm planning on making first! Xoxo
Then you will be the lord of your chocolate decadence.
Hamid Shanbe chief john would be proud
Lucky u. I have been waiting 1 year for my replacement :-D
Ooo rough. Why won't your land lord replace it? Mine is a gas stove and was actually becoming quite dangerous (it's quite old and leaks gas randomly😖 so I have to unplug and turn off the gas every time I'm through with using it. Quite the hassle!) so he has no choice but to buy me a new one.
+ponycoko look up the tenant laws in your area. That could be grounds for withholding part of rent. Find out the process, and threaten to do it (making sure you can back it up). That may put the fire under him or her, but if not, you'll at least give less money to that slumlord.
I would cut the raspberry sauce and add cherry sauce. Looks good!
Basically, this is chocolate eggs. I can dig it! :)
I made this and my family couldn't get enough of it! It's amazing! Thanks!!
Congrats on 1,000,320 subscribers!..let me try that again.
Congrats on a whole MILLION subscribers!
Best cooking channel on UA-cam for sure..
Thanks for the "leg warmers and members only jacket" reference, by the way I am making this cake for sure. Thanks.
I remember always hoping that this was on the menu every time my grandparents would take us out for dinner at a fancy restaurant.
Reminds me of a birthday card I got once that said, “I tried a dessert called Death by Chocolate... But it only made me stronger.” This dish could be nicknamed Death by Chocolate, in my opinion. I had it once (a different once than the one with the card) and I remember bright beams of light accompanied by a feeling of insurmountable bliss. So I skootched my chair to evade the glint of windshields in the parking lot. And as for the sea of bliss upon my dessert plate, well, as you can guess, I survived, single-forkedly and so much stronger than before. Cheers! -Phill, Las Vegas
Warning: don't watch Food Wishes videos as night; his voice may send you in an endless sleep!
Oh!, and I love the drama looking version, with the full plate covered by the sauce... gorgeous!
i just finished one.. after a few hours on the freezer, it was amazing! great recipe!
Oooh! I knew I stayed up for something! Sweet dreams to me.
almost 1 million! totally deserved, been following your videos for years and never get bored or less inspired! :D :D keep it up please, chef john!! :D
tried making this, and it was a hit! you're the best chef John!
I watched it twice it looks so good
OMG, I was searching that video for ages! Finally found it again. Like and subscribed!
I made this for Christmas and tried a little piece. It's really good, even though I might've messed up a little. The raspberry sauce absolutely helps with the over sweetness of the cake itself.
So easy to make and hands down the best chocolate cake I have ever had.
I'm definitely going to be making this !.. I absolutely LOVE chocolate paired with some type of fruit syrup.. Thanks for the video, this looks delicious !! :P
My absolute favorite cake! I made it for my birthday few days ago and it was a hit!!!
This looks amazing! Definitely something I will be making soon. Thanks for sharing.
it can't be a chef john video without a enjoyyy~~ at the end 😉
Huge heart for this cake and for chef John thank you so much!
Chef, That is absolutely amazing! That is a great recipe. TFS. :)
I have been looking for this recipe. I used to have it but lost it. I made the cake once and was in heaven. This is absolutely the best desert recipe I have ever made and tasted.
I have always loved the texture of this dessert.

i dont usually enjoy such sweet desserts, but i must admit you made this video extremely beautiful to watch with the contrast of that glorious red raspberry sauce
This recipe is awesome, and on top of that, it is diabetic friendly!

Wow! I'm definitely going to make this for Valentine's Day! 😄❤️
Beautiful as always. Cannot wait to try this one!
Chef John, I LOVE the chocolate you used! Scharffen Berger is my favorite brand of chocolate! It's a little pricey at like $3.50 a bar, but it's so good!
Congratulations on getting your first million subscribers!
The 80's the decade my mom loved the best and the decade I was born.
Wow a cake without lots of carbs but alot of proteins
Thanks Chef
I love you, Chef John!
I ended up making this cake along with the raspberry sauce for my moms birthday today and she really loved it! She couldn't stop talking about how delicious it all was! The cake is pretty easy to make, but thank goodness I have a KitchenAid with the whisk attachment. It made the process much better. Also, I ended up using a 9 inch bundt cake pan because I couldn't find any regular flat and round ones, but it ended up taking 20 minutes in my oven. It's great to have a substitute, but it sucks when you finally have to take it out of the pan. I let it sit in hot water for a few minutes, but I had to keep going around the edges with a knife and I was so glad when it finally came out. The cake still came out just as expected and I'm definitely glad I tried it out. Thank you so much for sharing another one of your recipes! :) I guess I definitely did get llll.....lots of compliments! XD
Congrats on the 1 million subs, chef!
Looks like a massive chunk of nougat... I LOVE IT
That.... looks.... INCREDIBLE!! The colours are so striking!! ^_^

"I'm gong to put in butter. Just a little bit." *pours in 10 ounzes
I died at that part lol
Actually it was 10 tablespoons, which is about 5 ounces.
Haha I thought exactly the same... :D
It is a little bit for a chef ;)
EVERY chef know the secret ingredient to make it taste heavenly is butter :) even in BBQ :)
