Griffith (Sydney Greenstreet) Mayor Arlington (Tor Johnson) Miss Picott (Lillian Gish), Gloria Tilton (Melanie Griffith), and David Underhouse (Lovecraft himself).
Whilst I can see the Tor Johnson comparison, it's becomes p. obvious that Mayor Arlington was modelled after Glenn Shadix from Beetlejuice if you run a search on Images. Additionally, one of the Hambleton boys is Willem Dafoe from 'To Live and Die in LA'.
I have one thing to say about that slug thing.... HOLY MARY MOTHER OF FUCKING FRUIT BASKETS!!!! MS DOS, man.... That shit knew how to scar your soul. And I never even HAD one growing up.

well the designers do this character look alikes on purpuse, nearly everybody resemblance some horror movie actor, you only know Jack Nicholson but there was Vincent Price, Sean Connery, Willem Dafoe, Melanie Griffith, Walter Matthau, John Hurt, even Mr. Lovecraft is in the character faces
Pretty sure the character at 03:12 is supposed to be Charles Laughton.

The atmosphere in this game was intense even i had to use a solution the whole game. There should be way more Lovecraft adventures like this.

Honestly, having a heart attack from seeing a picture of an eldritch subject is probably a better way to die when it comes to Call of Cthulhu.

Dude, life expectancy is averaged. Because historically it was common for children to die of illness prior to advanced medical technology, life expectancy was shorter than the average age people would die of old age.
While no one can deny Lovecraft made some damn fine novels there were others where well let's just say it was clear that his view on certain issues was very much of the time and leave it at that.

My favorite story by Lpvecraft was Shadow Over Innsmouth, sencond favourite was Dagon.
The sprite work in this game is phenomenal.

Actually the MAIN reason life expectancy has gone up so much is that kids don't die as much now, but even back then, if you'd made it past 40 you'd pretty much be able to live the rest of your life kinda risk free
I had to pause the video and put my computer to sleep to go do something. By the time I came back, I forgot when I paused the video and almost jumped when 8:22 popped onto my screen.

Carter??? It's a reference to the character of the same name. I believe they wanted him as a protagonist, but maybe couldn't get the rights to it (similar to innsmouth being turned into illsmouth). Maybe they just forgot to change it near the end.

Technically the most well known Lovecraft inspired franchise is actually Warcraft, hell, the name is even a parody of sorts on Lovecraft xD Though the real Lovecraftian elements didn't really how up until World of Warcraft... Or wait, actually, they did in Warcraft 3 when the Murlocs were introduced xD and then in WoW we god the old gods which obviously are HEAVILY inspired by Lovecraft xD

The average life expectancy was actually so low back in those days not because people were dying before 50 left and right (I mean there were some but it wasnt a miracle to live to 60) its actually because of the high infant mortality rate
