    Excellent tutorial. I am a videographer for a news organization, they threw these at us with no manual and said "use em". I found your post and your video is one of the best I have come across.
    No music, no distracting graphics, clear narration. Good Job. Thanks.

    Excellent. Thanks for doing what sennheiser doesn’t. Just picked up the 500 G4 set and the “manual” that comes with it is a joke. I wonder if they forgot to pack one. Just Pictogramm without description of what each feature does. Good luck to ya, that’s what Sennheiser packed in my box. At least now I understand how to set up and sync the frequencies. I’m still in the dark as to what to expect from the AF and RF bar graphs and how to adjust then.

    You obviously haven't done too many youtube tutorials, have you?
    You've broken 3 cardinal rules. 1) There's no rap music or speed metal (Rob Zombie also works) drowning out your narration. 2) The narration is clear and audible. 3) The tutorial is to-the-point and helpful.
    I know you can do better next time!

    I have two questions for you: 1) Can I have one transmitter going to two receivers? I speak and want my transmitter to go to the house sound system and to a camera or to my computer? 2) What do I need in order to have my Sennheiser EW100 recognized (plugged into) a MacBook Pro (running the latest Sierra) or even an iPad? What do I need to make this work? Fantastic tutorial, by the way.

    Something to look out for. When he selected 5 6 the green light went on. thats bad, hes picking up a signal from something and hes gonna get hits. if you're getting the green light when the TX is powered off find a different channel. Green light should be on when the transmitter is sending to it only...

    You are describing Squelch as a noise gate which is wrong, Squelch is related to the signal strength, if the the signal is not high enough, it will mute the sound. So like in the video, you have to put it low to receive even the low signals, but maybe with sometimes little reception noises...

  • @8686joedog

    I look for this video every time I need to use these mics, which is not often. Which is why I need this video. I finally wrote down the instructions. It seems that a better place for the sensitivity would be on the receiver and NOT the transmitter, no? Assuming you can't stop the shot to walk over to the talent and adjust his transmitter......

    So you said if someone has a loud voice you turn down the sensitivity, right? If the factory default is -30, then -60 is less sensitive? Basically you're turning down your microphone by adjusting to a larger negative number.

  • @AllenFreemanMediaGuru
    @AllenFreemanMediaGuru 8 років тому

    I've watched a few of these tutorials on these wireless sets, and most of them don't show them being used with someone on the mic. I want to see the levels moving, and then figure out when they know to go to a -30 or 0DB etc....this process of judging the signal is what I'd like to see in process. Also, when you adjust the AF Out, how is this effecting your Sensitivity setting, and vice versa?

  • @BeingPunjabee
    @BeingPunjabee 5 років тому

    I had real trouble with this set (ew 100 G3) means when the artist speaks there no noise at all but when paused for the sentence break it captures all the noise even between words.
    can you help me with the setting so I can limit all the noise out? I admit that we have noise from electrical appliances. I feel the sensitivity of this set as a drawback as compared to the very basic mic. We are using FCP, Canon 5D Mark III, and ew 100 g3.

    Does anyone else have troubles with the EW100G3 audio being significantly positively offset? This is limiting my audio amplitude capability by 1/3, and giving bad crackling when the positive clip limit is hit while the negative wave is still only 1/2 signal. I haven't had this kind of problem with any other mic system, wired, or wireless, on my current setup.

    • @sideejay1

      Increase the transmitter's sensitivity and play with it to see what sounds good. Remember though that as you increase this you decrease your "headroom" which is the room between sounding good and feedback. You can tell when you are approaching feedback because it will start to sound metallic or tinny. I hope this helps!

      The frequency has nothing to do with background noise, only with other disturbances such as cell phones or TV stations. Use the scanning function to find a frequency that works at that place and time.
