This wireless system is rock solid. Last year at a shoot, my wired subject had the body pack on and was in an elevator on the 8th floor at a hospital. I was outside at ground level near the main entrance and still got useable audio. I was probably about 800-1000 feet below. With concrete and potential RF interference with hospital equipment, this system is very capable. It's the BEST. Great video also. Thanks Sennheiser! Brownie
@BlackBookCooking Thanks for the kind words - glad you like your G3 system. A constant humming noise from the G2 system may be caused by a faulty mic or an improper cable or other factors. Some ideas: the 303 Field Mixer may be wanting a balanced connection or you may have to use a ground lift feature. Try plugging the G2 into something (like your camera) without the mixer and see what you get.
@MichaelWarbux It is likely in the A/D conversion-- consider sending your audio to another separate recorder if possible and sync it later. Try reducing your mic gain so that its just below peaking. Then, work with the AF out to get a similar signal level on your camera.
@kotspot if the noise is in the radio transmission, try a new channel and increase the squelch (do an EZ setup and frequency scan). If the noise is from the ambient environment, work with a mic that has a tighter pickup pattern (ME 4, e845)
@BlackBookCooking A balanced connection has an extra contact point on the cable and a corresponding contact point on the receptacle-- this helps reduce the overall noise floor and gives you a decent gain in signal strength as a result for better dynamic range. Many mixers have a ground lift that will isolate the electronics from a hum that could be self-generated.
@RayMiskiewicz you need 1 receiver for every transmitter. this is a standard across all brands and product types that incorporate wireless for audio capture.
@JayEhSeeEh Hi James-- you'll want to get a receiver in the 600 range or transmitter in the 500 range, as it is cost prohibitive to have them re-tuned.
we suggest using our frequency finder (at sennheiserusa dawt com) to determine the frequency range, and then use the EZ Setup to find the operational tuning.
Thanks for a great video. I was wondering whether it is posible to manually dial in a frequency that is already being used i.e. a Priests wireless frequency for his wireless mic during a wedding ceremony. This would mean that I wouldn't have to add a second lav mic onto them for my audio and could simply pick up their audio via my receiver? Thank you in advance for your reply :)
This may sound like a silly question but if I want to use two mics (for two people) and I have one video camera, one receiver is attached to the movie camera. Where does the second receiver go?
Thanks for this, it was exremely helpful. I bought the G2 about 3 years ago and recently bought 2 x G3's. Big difference. My problem now is I have set the new G3's and they are working beautifully, but my G2 is producing a humming noise under the audio. I have tried everything but cannot get rid of this. The G2 does not have as many features to set as the G3 and seems a bit more primitive, can you advise me what to do to reduce this hum. All mics are going through a 303 Field Audio Mixer.
@sennheiserusa Thanks for your reply. I have been using the G2 plugged directly into the camera up until now and I just tried it again separately and it works fine, but not through the mixer. If it is the mixer, what is a balanced connection or a ground lift feature? I am unfamiliar with these terms. Does it mean I might have to have all G3's if I'm using the mixer?
I have this exact system but I think I may be doing something wrong. when my subject or my camera moves I sometimes the audio cracks and drops out momentarily. Is there a way to prevent this? FYI, it happens with new batteries and at close range. It seems to happen more with the cube than the belt pack. The cude does this even when it's stationary.
My Sennheiser ew 100 G3 series receiver has a minor frequency problem. It is set between these frequencies 516-558MHz. The transmitter is at 626-668MHz. Is there a way to make them match so that it can be used? I appreciate your help. -James
Hey Ben, I'm having issues with my mic. It sounds really "muddy." I'm using it with my Canon 60D. I can't seem to get the audio setup right at all. It's either too loud or too low. Any suggestions?
I have 2 ew 100 ge wireless lavs. Is it possible to sync both transmitters to 1 receiver? From what I'm gathering from this tutorial it is not doable. If that is the case what do you suggest for using 2 separate lavs?
my sennheiser ew100 g3 isn't working correctly. i have everything set up and it had been working but now there's no sound. but when i tap on the mic i can see the af levels bounce on both the receiver and transmitter. i have the mic plugged in the camera (a cannon vixia hfr200). i also have headphones plugged into the camera. any idea on how to get the sound working again? also, i notice there's a buzzing when the camera is plugged in to charge but it goes away when it's unplugged.
hi.. could u help me? My transmiter do not show me in menu "easy setup" i dont now why.. please help me..I thing because i did wrong setup before... what a need to do for restart my transmiter?.. thanks very much..
@TheLittleWhiteStone Hello- when the pro's select wardrobe, etc, they look for "quiet" fabrics, and also make certain to remove jewelry, watches, etc. A better mic in your instance will simply pick up more sound, but you don't want to downgrade your audio. Stick with what you have, but work on the other aspects of the shoot that often go unnoticed. Also, work on the mic placement...make certain the mic is clipped on with some distance between the shirt and mic- avoid rubbing against the shirt
Hi cookingmexicanrecipe ... When you are using multiple microphones with multiple receivers into a single camera you are best off getting a portable mixer. Check out the models like the BeachTEK Portable Mixer.
Hi Ben, your presentation is the most professional I ever seen - Thanks! That's why I believe you can help me out with my problem: I just bought the Sennheiser G2 and the problem is that the signal from the receiver goes only to the left channel. My seller is trying to convince me that this is normal behavior, because Sennheiser is a MONO system. Is it normal behavior? Or the receiver is defective? The details of my setup are here: ... /watch?v=Ks8t_3_zSzs&feature=youtu.be Please answer!
Hello- it sounds like you may have a bad input on the camera. Try the wireless set on another camera or mixer and see what results you get so that you can try to eliminate this from being a possibility. Email us at info (at) sennheiserusa (dot) com

This was fantastic, it explained exactly what I was looking for with regards to the AF and sensitivity settings. Thank you!
Thanks Namorad ... we do these videos in house so we're glad you like them and find them useful.
This is correct and true with all wireless mics regardless of brand or type. You need minimum one receiver for every transmitter.
That was the single best tutorial I've ever seen on youtube! Thank you very much!

@vadim367 Hello- This is because of how your camera is set up. Set your camera so that it only records mono.
As long as the two devices are Sennheiser and they are within the same frequency range, absolutely-- this is a very common use for this set.
I purchased this kit last week and all I can say is that it's awesome!!
@MichaelWarbux It is likely in the A/D conversion-- consider sending your audio to another separate recorder if possible and sync it later. Try reducing your mic gain so that its just below peaking. Then, work with the AF out to get a similar signal level on your camera.

@alvaroandoin you need 1 receiver for every transmitter. Transmitters send audio, receivers well, receive it.
@alvaroandoin you can use a desktop receiver (EM 100 G3..use the same frequency range as the transmitter) or a portable receiver (EK 100 G3)
@BlackBookCooking A balanced connection has an extra contact point on the cable and a corresponding contact point on the receptacle-- this helps reduce the overall noise floor and gives you a decent gain in signal strength as a result for better dynamic range. LOL! your original purchase of the product is enough for us :) thank you for your brand support!
I just purchased this system and your video has helped me a lot.
Thank You.
I love him he's just a great person. Thanks for all you time trying to teach us and help.
thank you! enjoy and be certain to share some of your results :)
Thanks Ben! This video actually helps (as opposed to all "unboxing" videos out there).
Thanks for the great video and for putting together such a high quality plug-and-play solution!
thank you for checking it out!

@vadim367 not totally certain-- check with Canon, or when editing, see if that's an option.
thank you very much for the cool story...with sennheiser you get professional results

if you have a receiver / transmitter combo, you're probably looking at the opposite one :) ...the pack with the AF Out is the receiver.

Ben is the master. I have learned from the master.
@sennheiserusa Thank you for responding.
But I think my camera has only stereo setup - it's a Canon 60D.
Do you know how to setup 60D to record mono?
