My Endangered African Cichlids

- In this video I am going to share with you my endangered African cichlids, pseudotropheus saulosi. These are a smaller mbuna species from Lake Malawi that are on the endangered list. They are a beautiful fish with distinct dimorphism between the males and the females.

Great video. You’re def an inspiration to me and the reason why I got into the fish hobby. Keep up the great work!!
You're definitely good at editing and come across very well when you have the time to say what you're trying to say! I haven't seen you in a live stream before (apart from the podcast with Cory), but I definitely would be there if you did one. I hope you're not discouraged by the numbers showing a majority against going live. Looking forward to the next one.
looks just like my pseudotropheus elongatus so hard to tell difference
Those are awesome fish! I feel like you should do whatever you feel like doing. I would tune in for your live stream. I look forward to all of your videos! Your content for your videos never gets old. True fan here and you are absolutely incredible inspiration. Thank you for all you do. You and your videos has helped me tremendously with my African cichlids. So a big thank you!
Great video .I have some and they just had babies , the babies are in another tank at the moment
Great video
These will be my first foray into Malawians. Hard to beat yellow and blue. Nice video!
Great video Zenzo! I have these on my list for the fish tank barn.
Great video Zenzo. Live streams are great I just don’t have the time to sit and interact(I wish I did!!) that’s why i prefer edited and straight to the point videos.
I don't mind livestreams at all. I watch Corvus Oscen's, Dan's Fish, and Aquarium Co-Op's every week and sometimes LRB's and others'. The nice thing about them is that I can listen while doing other things and glance at the chat and add in a comment whenever, unlike a video like this where you sort of need to watch it to enjoy it.
Really not sure why someone would keep complaining about 'talking too much'. Kinda weird - it's not like you're just blathering on...you're giving knowledge and that's IMPORTANT...I'd like to say I'd like a live feed BUT I work the late shift *and* live in MI so I miss them all anyway and have to watch them later -- so do what everyone else wants :D
I've never understood that either. I've seen people complain on various videos, even educational videos, and it's like, "how else are they going to educate? Interpretive dancing? Sign language?"
Loved the videos...either long or short edited videos. Breeding is a great idea....no where near your area...wish I was.
Hey MR. Zenzo, great video once again 😎😎
Love these videos! Keep it up.
Nice video Zenzo ! I would watch your live stream buddy!! Really like that type of fish, once i get better at the hobby i may keep those :)
Lovely video! 😁 Take good care of them!
Love your video's.
Ow the pseudotropheus saulosi = now Chindongo saulosi 😉
Great video friend ✌✌👍
So they are basically a dwarf version of the pseudotropheus lombardoi (kenyi cichlid)?
One of my faves these fish i have a breeding colony i like them more than my peacocks
Try to release them into the wild need them to get off the endangered list or just keep them and you pass them down from generation to generation.
Do live streams Bro, the only thing it can do it boost your followers. Id watch
Any new update on the Saulosi? New video??
Excellent video!!!!! No Live stream.
Where did you get your group of saulosi?
I got them from a local member of my fish club. He bred these.
Timing! Gotta leave in 15 mins and you just post a 10 min video 😭🙏🏿
Too stressful for me. I couldn’t bare the thought of losing the whole colony in case of equipment failure.
good vid,i'm in apple valley and interested in getting some fish from you
Yes livestream
I voted for no livestream because I'm busy today and could not attend.
Hey Zenzo,
If my Saulosi look fine as adults but are producing fry that are not yellow, would you say the reason would be the genes or purity of the parents or could there be other possible reasons?
Thanks,
David
Are they threatened, or endangered? Two different classifications.
“Critically Endangered (IUCN 3.1)”
What brand are those cichlid stones?
Obviously you've never seen an East German female olympian.
Hello, was wondering what you experience has been with Saulosi fry?
Are they born yellow or turn yellow over time. If over time, how long would you say before they turn yellow?
Thanks,
David
Hi David. They come out yellow and stay that way until sexually mature. Some males will continue to stay slightly yellow/violet until they are fully grown.

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I really appreciate it :)
If my Saulosi parents look genuine but are producing fry that are not
born yellow would you say there is probably something wrong with the quality or purity of the parents.
Thanks,
David
Doesn't George Farmer have these?
Good video. The genus is now Chindongo though.
Like victoria cichilds 😟
Salousi is endangered?!?! Here in Australia u can buy them for 15 bucks which is cheap I think. That make me think they're not endangered
They are endangered in the wild in Lake Malawi in East Africa. Fortunately, they are doing well in the aquarium hobby.
@@TazawaTanks ohhhh ok thanks, btw did u make a video on how to breed them if not plz do as I wanna breed mine but there's not much info online.
I think one was holding ?
I thought so too, but when I looked again, it looked like it was just a piece of food (I fed them to bring them out in front of the camera).
Nice video Zenzo!
I have a question for anybody that is willing to help me:
Is my Frontosa insane if it keeps eating dirt and acting like an mbuna.
It is still a juvenile but I seperrated him from the group because he got atacked.
So now he is all by himself and some kuhli loaches but I feel kinda sad for him.
He is going insane, what should I do?
not a problem fronts love to dig and hunt for food.
I beg to differ. It isn't easy anymore to tell the difference between a male and a female in this day and age.
What’s up
I’m first!!!!
You'll get demonatized for talking about obvious differences in human biology. 🤣🤣. Thanks Zenzo, I like the short livestreams on Instagram but don't always see the notifications. Most people by the end of an hour are usually just trying to fill time. It can get boring.
The fish are critically endangered :(
It's politically incorrect to distinguish between males and females these days. 😂
Lol that what i was thinking especially in San Francisco
Lame...
