I have a colony of eight Neolamprologus Similis in a 20 long. I just noticed the other day that I have three tiny fry. I’m so excited. I love sitting on the couch and watching them!
This def help my Cichlid addiction, always wanted cichlids but only have small space, now that i learned i can put this guys in a 20 gallon... im set hahaha, also for small fish species "CPD" is my all time favorite, as a river angler, they remind me of Brook Trout
Love your Video! I have a 180 litre Tank with six Neolamprologus multifasciatus and a Pair of Julidochromis transcriptus! Works very well, the Julis are a little bit shy and build with the stones and Sand a little bunker, the Multis are sooooo awesome and brave little Fish with interesting behavior, i can recommend every interested Fishkeeper this little Shelldweller! In the future i want to give a try to co-house Paracyprichromis nigripinnis to bringing more life and movement in the top of the aquarium! Greetings from Germany to Canada🙋♂️
I also love the Julidochromis but I also have other dwarf cichlids like kribensis, Apistogramma, and German blue rams. Thank you so much for the great video
With all the fishkeeping videos I watch, I can't believe I just got one of your videos in my recommended list. Very excited and will subscribe. I was born in Terrebonne (1970) and my dad was the minister at the Anglican church in Mascouche. Maybe I will be able to order from you some day!
@@QuebecCichlides I guess my usual viewing didn't quite fit into the same FishTube category that you inhabit, but I'm happy to have found you now! I've definitely tended to keep smaller tanks and fish than most of yours. Bettas were my gateway drug to fishkeeping, then guppies and corydoras mostly. I also have ember tetras, neon green rasboras, and amano shrimp. But with a big re-org and re-scaping of tanks as I settle into my new place, and a couple of new 30g tanks from Kijiji, I've been looking at trying out some other types of fish, including dwarf cichlids. Had my eye on a pair of nannacara anomala at a LFS, but when I went to check them out the male had died and the female had popeye. Still pondering and planning...
It’s so nice to some smaller cichlids really enjoyed the video superb knowledge. Think I will definitely looking in these . Love my African cichlids tanks
Much love from Saskatchewan, thankyou so much for sharing this information. I just got a 20 gallon tank that i am doing a fishless cycle and trying to figure out what fish to get. I definitely wanted cichlids but didn't know what to go with. I am definitely going with one of these options now after seeing this
Favorite fish for 10 gal - betta, favorite fish for 20 gal - guppies, favorite cichlid - angelfish. I've never had shell dwellers, but love those multies!!
Just saw this video. My favorite African cichlid is the multies. I haven't had them long but am already crazy about them. My other favorites is the golden eye cichlid and Apistograma. Great video 👍
I've got some multis in with some cyprochromis. A really active tank and action everywhere. I'm really getting into my lake tanganyikas I do think they are more interesting than malawis. Just so many different species there but less colour.
I have 7 Lamprologus multifasciatus in a 20 gallon ... I hope to see some fry soon ... other non-cichlids that I have in smaller aquariums are killis and some smaller tetras and rasboras ;)
According to Ad Koning and others, Julidochromis marksmithii 'Kipili ' is only true J. marksmithii. Have enjoyed many of your clear videos and love the meaning of the name of your city, Good Earth.
I love your content some day I would like to get a colony of lamprologus multifasciatus but the plan would be to eventually put them in a 55 keep doing what you’re doing have a nice day
I’m a new subscriber and just came across this video. I have an empty 30 gallon tank and really want to put some of the multis in it. I’d like to have something else in there as well that would hang out in the middle or top of the water column. Also Tanganykan cichlids. Can you please suggest something? Your videos are pretty good, actually better than most others I have seen on UA-cam.
I just saved a tote full of multi,s that sat in a garage for over a year. In what I would call a tub of mud. I got them free and emptied a 75g. It took 6 water changes to get it some what cleaned ,the shells were full on muck. We'll see what happens next. I have about 20 adults two spawn sizes maybe three . I culled only one bent back so fat. Hope to save them.
I'm not shipping out my big Frontosas, but I can ship out smaller ones. Send me an email through this form with your full address and I'll get you a quote : www.quebec-cichlides.com/contact-us
I got my first cichlids yesterday lol. I got 3 electric blue acara. I'm hoping 2 will pair up so I can breed them in the future. Ive wanted cichlids for a while but I only want small ones haha👍✌️
How about Lamprologus signatus? They're another one that will bite you. I kept these without shells but provided them with small dark glass medicine vials which they accepted readily. Lots of character.
I’m not sure what the exact name of the cichlids I have but I believe it is an electric blue Mbuna. He’s in a 10 gallon for a while until I get a bigger one. He seems to be hiding most of the time when he’s not hunting for his food. The question I have is, what would be the best tank mate for him possibly now or when I get a bigger tank?
Thanks Rachelle!!! Informative as always. Are you shipping to Ontario at this time? Any of these wonderful species in stock? I would love to support your store!!!😊

Since my ocellatus adventure was a failure (no breeding and all fish gone after 2.5 years) I have been eager to try other shellies that didn’t grow up watching Eastwood, Stallone, and Seagal movies. (Oscellatus owners are nodding their heads) I like the addition of Julidochromis species as well. I’ve always wanted J. transcriptus. - how many in a 90cm x45cm x 40cm (160ish liters) tank? Or just leave it as a pair. As usual, you make me want new fish and more tanks…. Shame on you!

Great video thanks for the ideas and information. Never heard monogamous pronounced that way before made me question if I was saying it right 😅
I say it the French Canadian way. Don’t be so hard on yourself, we all pronounce words differently depending on where we’re from 😁

I keep mine with my electric blue lobster and they do just fine.

For the multis in a 10g, is 3 or 4 okay? I don't plan to breed, but just in case it happens, I don't want to overcrowd the tank.
It should be fine 🙂
where can i find the Marksmithi?? I do not see them in Ohio or online. do you ship to Ohio?
Unfortunately not. I don't know your local fish stores in Ohio 😅
My water is 19dGH so instead of spending hundreds more on rodi and more water bills so I’m looking at cichlids.

That's a lot of fish but I don't see any issues with that. They would be able to mingle 😃
