Well, that and there were other reasons as well. Apparently Dong Zhuo was very abusive to Lu Bu, such as throwing stuff at him in a fit of rage.
Actually thinking about it the relationship between Dong Zhou and Lu Bu are basically Ghorth the Cruel and Zhatan the Black, Tyrant ruler that is less of a warrior and his mega soldier general that serves him.

I really love how he turns and laughs as Lu Bu walks up the stairs and regards him, and then they both walk arrogantly away as he laughs. They are both such bad-a's. I look forward to playing as both of them and tearing up the three kingdoms. Also, quite sad for the delay now that this video released. After Warhammer, have had a hard time getting back into Total War History, but this one is exciting me a lot. Guess I'll go play Dynasty Warriors 8 for now.

The Three Kingdom's fiction didn't have to make up anything about him to put him in a negative light. I don't even think most writers can *make* *up* the stuff Dong Zhuo did in real life. He did have supporters, although mostly in the military. I have to wonder if we the player need to balance his *psychotic* *tendencies* while we play him, like a mechanic we have to juggle. Killed thousands of innocent civilians & officials on suspicion of disloyalty. Including the entire clan of the leader of the Coalition who opposed him that he could find in Louyang. Captured enemy soldiers reportedly tortured so horrifically it caused a loss of morale among Coalition forces. 3. Destroyed so many valuable works of bronze art to make coins that he actually caused inflation to the point of the currency being considered worthless. Not to mention the countless other arts and treasures he raided to prop up his coffers. 4. Staged tortures in the middle of his banquets, which peaked with the still living mess of a person being tossed with his detached parts into a pot of boiling oil. I haven't seen such a fantastic trailer in several years. Made me to play this game for hundreds of hours.. The lack of battle animations are the biggest issues I have with the game.

I would imagine it is a variation on the same lyrics they have been using in conjunction with their own orchestration. Dong Zhuo is a locked faction, you can only play as him if you either defeat him or become emperor. Rome 1 and Medieval 2 had a similar system of "beat the faction and you unlock them in a new game", but they dropped that mechanic. Probably because if you ever uninstalled Rome 1 or Medieval 2, you'd have to start again from scratch, and that is incredibly frustrating in games that easily take weeks to finish.

absolutely my most favourite faction ever!!! i love the intimidation mechanic, coerce in diplomacy and the option to raze commandery... very tyrannical aspect the early game can be overwhelming but here's my personal tips : You have to turtle in early game. Big warlords like the Lius, Yuan brothers, Gongsun Zan, Cao Cao and Kong Rong tend to attack straight to Chang'an through bottleneck of Luoyang port. This is my favourite spot to set up an ambush. I bagged Zhao Yun, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Yuan Shu and many more... it won't be long before the enemies offered you peace treaty with extra gold on top of that😁 After the situation cooled down, build another armies to conquer the northwest region. Beware to keep your defense tight, since enemy will always breaking the peace with you several times. Food will become an issue this time, so you can send a small army to annex Han Empire's region Try to be on a good term with southern warlords like Sun Quan or Shi Hui. At least until an emperor emerges

I really love how he turns and laughs as Lu Bu walks up the stairs and regards him, and then they both walk arrogantly away as he laughs. They are both such bad-a's. I look forward to playing as both of them and tearing up the three kingdoms.
Also, quite sad for the delay now that this video released. After Warhammer, have had a hard time getting back into Total War History, but this one is exciting me a lot. Guess I'll go play Dynasty Warriors 8 for now.

@@count_dcinamon Indeed. The actual Dong Zhuo was a nasty piece of work if even a *quarter* of what was written about him is true. The Three Kingdom's fiction didn't have to make up anything about him to put him in a negative light. I don't even think most writers can *make* *up* the stuff Dong Zhuo did in real life. He did have supporters, although mostly in the military. I have to wonder if we the player need to balance his *psychotic* *tendencies* while we play him, like a mechanic we have to juggle. Though I am mostly interested in commanding Lu Bu, that guy is basically the Vegeta (DBZ reference) of the Three Kingdoms period (technically before it though).

From what I know:
1. Killed the teenage Emperor and replaced him with his younger brother as a puppet.
2. Killed thousands of innocent civilians & officials on suspicion of disloyalty. Including the entire clan of the leader of the Coalition who opposed him that he could find in Louyang. Captured enemy soldiers reportedly tortured so horrifically it caused a loss of morale among Coalition forces.
3. Destroyed so many valuable works of bronze art to make coins that he actually caused inflation to the point of the currency being considered worthless. Not to mention the countless other arts and treasures he raided to prop up his coffers.
4. Staged tortures in the middle of his banquets, which peaked with the still living mess of a person being tossed with his detached parts into a pot of boiling oil. Resulting cooked "meatball" displayed like *art* in front of guests (who understandably lost their appetite).
Yep! Like solid 2 hours of gameplay before Lu Bu killed him 😶

I would imagine it is a variation on the same lyrics they have been using in conjunction with their own orchestration. The usual lyrics are drawn from the poem "The Old Soldier's Return" and can be translated to " I joined the army and fighting when I was 15, and finally came back home when I was 80." I expected the Dong, but I was not ready for the Dong to be a mechanic that haven't been used since Medieval 2.

Dong Zhuo is a locked faction, you can only play as him if you either defeat him or become emperor. Rome 1 and Medieval 2 had a similar system of "beat the faction and you unlock them in a new game", but they dropped that mechanic.
Probably because if you ever uninstalled Rome 1 or Medieval 2, you'd have to start again from scratch, and that is incredibly frustrating in games that easily take weeks to finish.
@@daevious_ or simply because, while a nice idea, it is kinda disheartening if you wanted to play faction X but had to unlock that first... in Rome I and Med II you could just change a txt file, but later games...

@@phamphucman Yes. It is from the scene but the it is CaoCao who tried to assassinate Dong. Ding is an angry noble who hit Dong with a piece of bamboo. He is a symbol of rebellion because he know his action will do nothing but result in his own execution, which is the case. However, he still choose to do it.

absolutely my most favourite faction ever!!! i love the intimidation mechanic, coerce in diplomacy and the option to raze commandery... very tyrannical aspect
the early game can be overwhelming but here's my personal tips :
You have to turtle in early game. Big warlords like the Lius, Yuan brothers, Gongsun Zan, Cao Cao and Kong Rong tend to attack straight to Chang'an through bottleneck of Luoyang port. This is my favourite spot to set up an ambush. I bagged Zhao Yun, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Yuan Shu and many more... it won't be long before the enemies offered you peace treaty with extra gold on top of that😁
After the situation cooled down, build another armies to conquer the northwest region. Beware to keep your defense tight, since enemy will always breaking the peace with you several times. Food will become an issue this time, so you can send a small army to annex Han Empire's region
Try to be on a good term with southern warlords like Sun Quan or Shi Hui. At least until an emperor emerges
chills everywhere, that music though.
I would love an expansion that covers the Chu - Han contention, starting with the end of the Qin dynasty. Long Live Emperor Gaozu (Liu Bang)!

Dong Zhuo reminds me of Robert Baratheon from Game of Thrones.
He might look like Robert, but he is more Tywin Lannister in general. They both came from west of the empire/kingdom. They both were the actual ruler of the empire/kingdom. They both rode their army into capital and control the young emperor/king. They both have a step-son/son with outstanding dual ability (Lu bu/Jaime Lannister). They both died to their step-son/son (Lu bu/Imp) over a woman (Diao Chan/Shae).
It was Dong Zhuo's death that plunge China into chaos and start the Chinese game of thrones, just like how Robert's death plunge Westeros into chaos and start the War of the Five Kings.
