"Ballistic Nylon" was NEVER meant to stop or even slow down bullets fired directly into it. It's sole purpose was to reduce the severity of injuries sustained from low velocity / energy flak shrapnel & ricochets, making an otherwise fatal hit, survivable till the plane could land and proper medical treatment applied.
"Ballistic" does not mean bullet resistant for that matter either... When used to describe a product, it just means that the product was designed to help cope with objects in motion. i.e. multiple layers of ballistic nylon can reduce the overall penetration of flying objects, and thereby reduce the severity of the wounds sustained. In the case of Kevlar, Dyneema, Spectra, or other similar materials, these can be sufficiently layered to create bullet resistant (i.e. bullets fire directly at it) materials at a relatively light weight.

Try a wider ammo variety like a 32 and 38 acp, 45 acp, 9mm JHP

Yes. Should have clarified that. It was 115 grain FMJ.
