My mom would always tell us that no matter someone gave us a gun and said it was empty, we always had to check it anyway and never pointing it towards anyone until we were absolutely sure it was actually empty, I heard it soooo many times that it was pure logic, why Baldwin didn't check the gun??? Especially being an actor who already paricipated in other movies with guns. I thought I was asuming too much but now I know I wasn't.
That is what I have been taught, and something that has stuck with me for about 34 years. It was on a test sheet from a hunter safety course. The question...What is the safety device on a gun?....Answer.....A mechanical device that can fail. Not exactly sure if it was worded that exact way, but that was the context of it. And for some reason of all the thousands of things I have forgotten in 34 years, that has stuck with me.
Nonsense, it's the armorers job, nobody would even know what they were looking at if they checked the cylinder, how are they supposed to know if they are looking at a blank, or a live round? You expect all the women and children actor's in movies to check the weapon before they shoot it? The fact that they even allow real guns on a set is the problem, just add the effects in post production.
John’s right , Alec should have checked the gun , no matter what the armourer told him. Common sense when you own guns. Every gun expert on UA-cam agrees with John. 5 people one gun , everyone checks the gun. 🇨🇦
This is the second John Schneider interview I’ve seen. Why has he got some grudge against Alec? Why did he go and talk to the Sheriff when he was not asked to?
I do believe John has gotten it right . Alex Baldwin is trying to talk his way out of this incident . The lack of accountability and entitlement on part of Mr. Baldwin and others is astounding . Charges need to be filed and those who are at fault need their day in court . Someone died due to someone's negligence . Thanks Mr. Schneider for your intelligent point of view and insight ! 🙏❤🇺🇸💗🙏
I concur exactly with your comment. I’m so sick by pass the blame game. People died. End of story. Accountability needs to be done swiftly. Thanks John your spot on in your analysis.
John Schneider is a huge ass. His own grown kids don't even speak to him. My cousin worked on set with him. He's left California, yay!!! Believe me, the guy is a real piece of work. I'm not even a fan of AB BTW!! 😊
John is right common sense and no one is above the normal rules that apply. What a bunch nonsense that it would be handled any different than any one else
It's possible that Hannah, Dave or Alec loaded the live round. Why would Alec aim so precisely at Halyna, at close range, then fire his gun? It's odd to me that such insane behavior is not, at least, suspicious.
There you go anti-gun people you should always check your weapon don't count on anybody else to clear it for you. it's totally on him he didn't clear the pistol
Why was he pointing it at the cinamatogropher? Not even in the movie. The first gun rule for any 12 yr old getting his hunter safety certificate. 1. Treat every firearm as if it's loaded. 2. Always keep your firearm pointed in a safe direction. This would of never happened if he did what he should have. Now he should be charged for murder. Absolute negligence! Meanwhile he's out buying a new property while this family suffers.
I thought I didn’t want to watch any more of the Baldwin shooting. I wish I would’ve started with this one - it’s all that need to be said. Love John Schneider for standing up and doing this interview.

This should’ve happened exactly with the gun and dummies …doesn’t matter what was said he should open up and checked with everyone. The way you tell us by shaking the bullets to see if they rattle if they rattle…. it’s a dummy and if it’s a real bullet it doesn’t rattle. Alec Baldwin was negligent and he was naive but he was also irresponsible,-and more important reckless … The armour she seem frazzled and confused on the body armour footage from the police footage and tried to blame the second unit director. What a sad state events no one really wins absolutely ludicrous. I hope in future dummy rounds are painted green the bottom so people know their dummies…. Utterly disappointing…
Alec Baldwin is in big trouble. He failed to check the weapon, he is responsible for the result. His responsibility is not just in handaling the weapon, he is responsible for safety on the set for everything because he is the Producer.
In the Army using "MILES GEAR" (Military Laser Tag using Blanks) we are told if firing at others in training to "aim away" and yell out "Safety Kill" to prevent powder burns....
Each person who handled that weapon is responsible. Alec Baldwin is even more so as he fired the weapon while everyone was standing by. Those people were only 6 to 8 ft away from him when he fired. Like John says point blank basically. They were all crowded together in that small room with all the cameras and equipment they were using for the scene. No one handles a weapon let alone points it a a person without checking to see if the safety was on and or empty. Another fact on them old guns the hammer has to be cocked and trigger pulled in order for it to fire. Baldwin is lying on that count as well. He says he did not do it. You can clearly see in the videos him doing it and his hand shakes when doing it. He is criminally responsible and needs to be in jail!
He still should have checked to see if it was loaded. If, anyone gives you a gun that's the first thing you should do. Don't go thinking someone else checked it. First rule in gun safety always check to see if it's loaded and don't ever point it at someone.
Look, I get accidents on set and this has happened before with Brandon Lee and Michael Massee, the actor who shot him was so affected he took a year off from acting. He said he never got over it and he never watched the film until he died in 2016. He didn't act like Alec Baldwin, he kept his head down and he was devastated because no matter how you look at it, it was an accident, it was a scene on the film, but it happened. A life was taken and it's tragic. What Alec should have done was shut up and not do any interview saying he doesn't feel any guilt. This was a reckless negligent accident but to say that is just so callous to the family of the victim. Alec is a psychopath but he should have at least acted remorseful or guilty but even that is difficult for him.
He's been in jail as well. For "accidently" not paying child support...he "explained" that is was because he needed to spend the money on a studio. Really? The courts found him to be ludicrous. He cried that they'd been mean to him. Ooh diddums. It's great when arseholes call out other arseholes.
This was negligence when production (Baldwin) chose to bring in functional firearms on this movie set. Real guns are not toys, and Alec DID NOT treat his real gun as a deadly weapon.
Do they have a video of what happened? No eye witness is going to remember the exact same testimony. Also what people remember changes over time. I am not saying Alec is not at fault but it will be hard to prove he did anything - that will land him in jail.
The only thing John is wrong about is the recoil of a single action 45 Colt. It is not so bad. The plowshare grip is designed to swing up in the hand to put the hammer under the thumb to recock. And it takes up most of the recoil. It's a pussycat, really. Properly gripped. Sure, you will feel a little recoil. Even a 44mag single action isn't so bad. Used properly. Try out a S&W 500...... now that one bites! Hard!
Besides his views on Alec Baldwins actions, I have heard what John Schneider has to say about his beliefs on US politics. No time for him anymore. My boys loved that TV program, but how little we knew. I would be interested to know exactly why he is really here and approached CourtTV to do this.
He’s telling the truth. Alec Baldwin and everyone that picks up a gun and points it at someone has culpability. The difference here is Baldwin is a liberal celebrity. If it was you or I we’d have been arrested early on. If that makes no sense to you. That’s pretty sad. The rest of what you hold against him is neither here nor there to this conversation. US law in every state is pretty clear on that. Vinny Politan , as an attorney knows that too. Everyone that touches the gun to handle it has responsibility. That includes Baldwin. WHO btw was taught to shoot by his sharpshooter Marine father who was the instructor of a shooting team at a high school. His brothers have spoken about being taught to shoot by their father in articles. Which also makes Alec Baldwin a big fat liar. Politics is one thing. Common sense and law are another.
You seem to be the only one in these comments who thinks there's something a bit off here. Other than being an actor, what makes this guy an authority? And he _called the sheriff?!_ To volunteer his expert opinion? Who does that? He needs to mind his own business.
@@lesleyhughes3174 He wants to see accountability. Not some actor who thinks they are holier than anyone else weasel their way out of this situation. Believe it or not, he does know a few things about protocols and safety measures on movie and tv show sets. Also, just like you have a right to your political beliefs, so does John. Don't think for one minute that he is wrong because his beliefs may be different than yours. Don't forget, Baldwin shouldn't be the main focus as one young lady lost her life, now her husband doesn't have a wife and their kids don't have a mother, get it?
Did you watch the video and hear the explanation? Do you know what a revolver is and why a closeup shot of a gun pointing towards the camera has dummy rounds in the cylinder? How do you verify a “cold gun” by spinning the cylinder in 2 seconds if it’s loaded with dummy rounds? You sound as incompetent as everyone else on the movie set with a statement like that.
The first rule of gun safety is "do not point any gun at a person" This applies to Firearms, dart guns, paintball guns, and even squirt guns. Firearms are to be checked as EMPTY, dart guns can put out an eye, Paintball guns require eye protection and clothing helps, Even a cap gun can cause a problem causing injury if someone jumps out of the way and gets injured. BBs or pellets can put out an eye. Ignorance of the first rule/ law of gun safety is not a defense.
Just a thought here, as a responsible gun owner. As well as a fellow who has done a little acting. First thing first, a movie set has an armorer. It is this person who is responsible for making certain of cold weapon. It is this person who has the responsibility. Second thing, there is no way, by basic visual inspection that he, Alec Baldwin, could have known he was looking at a live round in the chamber.
There's a slug inside the casing... So... Yea... He should have. Federal law states once any firearm be it used for props, recreational target use, or hunting. That once it's in YOUR HANDS it's your responsibility. Period. There's no fine print in the law that makes an acception by putting the burden of blame onto the armorer.
@@caiuspostumiusturrinus1024 Not having ever worked on a film set, I realize I'm speaking from ignorence. That said - I do own guns. From an 1858 Model Remington revolver I've put a conversion cylinder in to a Rossi Ranch Hand (Mare's Leg) both chambered in 45 colt. Now, my comment was that Mr Baldwin could not, by mere physical inspection, ascertain if the rounds in the weapon were 'live' rounds. How do I know this? After I bought my Mare's Leg I could immediately feel how rough the action was. I needed to run a few hundred rounds through the cycle, loosen everything up. So, I bought a package of "snap caps'. Solid aluminum bullets that have the exact appearance of a real live round. So I return to my original comment, there is no way of "just looking at a gun to know if it has live rounds in it". Especially if there is a professional armorer taking care of things. If he was indeed handed that weapon and was told it did not have live rounds, there is no way he could have 'looked' at the thing and known they were, in fact, live, since the dummy bullets look exactly like a live round.
She and the director would have been alive if Baldwin done very simple basic gun safety...check to see if it's loaded...that simple and as a non gun owner I already knew to do, because it's common sense!!!
Basically anyone who handles the weapon will check that the gun is safe every fime before they use it on a scene, if its been put down and left it should be checked again by everyone who is responsible
Alec Baldwin is the only man alive who can be holding a Smoking Gun, claims he never pointed the gun at a person, never pulled the trigger but somebody died after the gun went off.
I have shot on can of pop. It is rifle I took one shot. When I do practical shooting on the rifle, it was very loud indeed. That thing I did once, after the first shot, I do no more. The gun is lightly than rifle. Yeah something I don't understand in this case Alex knows what he is doing. It seems he intention was real. There was something about that woman she has made film of something that Alex did't want her to make filming . Whichever she didn't tell anyone of her project. That now is bearing is in her grave. No one knows what behind her story. We never know the real story behind the curtain.
This particular gun has a three click trigger, when clicked in the first or second pullback, the gun shouldn't fire, click back three times the gun will fire, there is a video on UA-cam about said gun.
Are light triggers dangerous? Safety Concerns: One significant drawback of a lighter trigger pull is the increased risk of accidental discharges. A shooter must exercise utmost caution and follow proper safety protocols when handling firearms with lighter triggers.27 Apr 2023
Alec Baldwin and all those who handled the gun, should have checked the chamber when receiving the gun from the previous person. It is inexcusable. Especially with his experience. He is responsible for making sure that the gun was not loaded at the time he received it. A good example of this sort of failure is when a suspect has been arrested, the arresting officer checks for any possible weapon or something that can be harmful. The next person to handle the suspect must repeat the same procedure. If something was found during a search, then the previous person(s) handling is/are responsible for failing to properly search the suspect. A suspect may be searched several times before being put in a holding cell. And then the searches continue the moment the suspect is moved out of that cell to another location.

I grew up in a home with several guns. My father showed them to us and kept them always empty in a safe place.
Why is Alec Baldwin being treated with kid gloves over what appears to be a murder or negligent homocide?

Hello Baylee B, how are you doing over there?
Because of money and abuse of power.
He is about to be charged with involuntary manslaughter.
@GH1618 GOOD!
My comment was 7mos ago.
Exactly, its called gun safety, and he's guilty of just about every gun safety rule in the book.
Every gun is loaded and you treat every gun as if it's loaded. You must check and clear firearm, before handling a firearm
Wish JS could testify in AB's trial!
John Schneider is right 👍👍👍👍👍We will love to see John S again 😊
John’s right , Alec should have checked the gun , no matter what the armourer told him.
Common sense when you own guns. Every gun expert on UA-cam agrees with John. 5 people one gun , everyone checks the gun. 🇨🇦
When you hand a firearm to anybody. You unload it first Period . I don't care who you are.
This is the second John Schneider interview I’ve seen. Why has he got some grudge against Alec? Why did he go and talk to the Sheriff when he was not asked to?
Thanks John, so true.
You are right John, he pulled back the hammer on that gun.
John is speaking facts
You ALWAYSSSSS check the gun yourself! No MATTER WHAT!!! No IFs ands or BUTs!
Notice that Baldwin’s finger is on the trigger when rehearsing.
Thank you, John!

Hey John Schneider. I haven't seen him since the Dukes. And that's just a little bit more than the law will allow...
You should check him out in Smallville.

John Schneider is a huge ass. His own grown kids don't even speak to him. My cousin worked on set with him. He's left California, yay!!! Believe me, the guy is a real piece of work. I'm not even a fan of AB BTW!! 😊
Great analysis.
You are ALWAYS responsible for any projectiles fired out of a gun that you are in control of. He is responsible for the death.period.
Plus he's lying he pulled the trigger
Best explanation yet..
John is right common sense and no one is above the normal rules that apply.
What a bunch nonsense that it would be handled any different than any one else
Why even have bullets on a movie set? Cant the sound effects people create the sound?
Good info finally
How is Alec Guilty When he didn't put the bullets in the Gun. I always thought they us Blanks.
He shot the gun and killed someone.
You should always check a gun to see if it's loaded before you handle it. He didn't do that.
How would you feel in the same situation if it was your loved one or a child?
It's possible that Hannah, Dave or Alec loaded the live round. Why would Alec aim so precisely at Halyna, at close range, then fire his gun? It's odd to me that such insane behavior is not, at least, suspicious.
@@alicepotter8165 ofgs
100 percent right
There you go anti-gun people you should always check your weapon don't count on anybody else to clear it for you. it's totally on him he didn't clear the pistol
The made a movie called "Waterloo" with 20000 people WITH GUNS- pistols, rifles, cannons- and nobody got shot! Just saying..

You know nothing about handling weapons.
I don't care if it's Hollywood or not.

@@stephaniegoodman6887 and you do know everything? Really? You have no clue who I am. Number one, it wasn't Alec Baldwins gun. If you can't trust someone in such an important position, she should not be there . Number three....stop shouting!! Do you have a control issue!!

I'm not yelling! This is an important issue. Once a weapon is in your hand it becomes that person's responsibility! Period.
No, of course I don't know everything...but I know if that weapon had been checked and Baldwin rechecked it. It doesn't matter who's weapon it is. Especially if its not your weapon...Check the weapon. We wouldn't be having this conversation if those simple steps had been taken.

But just asking out of curiosity...why would it be "the females" fault that Baldwin shot to death that poor woman? Then put a man in the hospital with a shoulder wound?
I'm sorry...I just don't know. Help me out here, because I simply don't have a clue who the hell are.

Well I would suppose...that if the "female" that didn't hand Baldwin the weapon in the " right position" as you said.
Why in heck, would it matter?
Keep in mind, if you will. I know nothing about Hollywood and the different procedures "they" have.
I only know of the universal way to train with firearms. That was how myself and most are trained.
Hundred percent with you john, look a good analogy is this someone owes you $1000 they give you the envelope and say there’s $1000 there …..straight away what would and should do is you open the envelope and count it all ✅ next example someone gives you $1000 they owe you and “they” count out $1000 and give it to you…. what you should still then do you recount in front of them just in case they’ve made a mistake or they’re trying to scam you.
So cool of a man I enjoy his movies and acting. He was great as Bow Duke! And knows a lot about fire arms and armorment. Always a fun time with him.
BRILLIANTLY EXPLAINED
@John Hooper exactly!!
I honestly think that he had no idea that there was a live bullet in that gun,
He still should have checked to see if it was loaded.
Lock him up! Lock him up! What is taking so long???
NM is a liberal state! 'Got to protect our cash cow - the movies!!
Wow, that sounds serious.
If this is standard operating procedure, then surely it is written down somewhere. Where? I would like to read it.
Thanks John. You are very well informed! And we love you! You sing awesome.. 👍...
I agree with John
Hello Kaylyn Roth, how are you doing over there?
What have you been drinking there Nancy? Put the cork back in the bottle if there is any left and go to bed. We’ve had enough of you, Nancy !
You seem to be the only one in these comments who thinks there's something a bit off here. Other than being an actor, what makes this guy an authority? And he _called the sheriff?!_ To volunteer his expert opinion? Who does that? He needs to mind his own business.
@@fulanichild3138 He is always seeking attention. I think he misses the old days.

Also, "they" might have approached John because he is an actor and has been one for over 40 years now.
Checking to see if that gun is cold is spinning the cylinder which would have taken less then two seconds
@@Bitterrootbackroads I heard there were zero shells in the cylinder. Later though I heard the opposite. Fu
The first rule of gun safety is "do not point any gun at a person" This applies to Firearms, dart guns, paintball guns, and even squirt guns. Firearms are to be checked as EMPTY, dart guns can put out an eye, Paintball guns require eye protection and clothing helps,
Even a cap gun can cause a problem causing injury if someone jumps out of the way and gets injured.
He is responsible.
Basically anyone who handles the weapon will check that the gun is safe every fime before they use it on a scene, if its been put down and left it should be checked again by everyone who is responsible
So Qanon John gives his opinion? So what? Who cares?
John looks great, and he hits it on all points, he could have also been a great attorney! 🇨🇦
Alec Baldwin is the only man alive who can be holding a Smoking Gun, claims he never pointed the gun at a person, never pulled the trigger but somebody died after the gun went off.
Wow!
I believe he was framed, but he should’ve checked the weapon anyway
I do too, I reckon the blond armourer didn't like him and put a live round in.
With cgi we don't need real guns on movie sets.
My sister used to have a big crush on John Schneider.

Sounds like these folks had a little too much to drink.
They are right on.
But who left a bullet in the gun? Why was the gun allowed to be used for target practice?
Hello Tawny C, how are you doing over there?
Wait, John seems to be forwarding false information here. The armourer's father was a set armourer not AB's father.

Checking to see if it's cold is one thing but choosing to be on the other side of a gun aimed at you is another. Both parties are at fault in my opinion. He shouldn't have pointed it at them but they shouldn't have been there to begin with. There are monitors hooked up to the camera for visuals.
