Honestly, what makes it impressive isn't the toonforce, anyone in looneytoons can use it so long as they abide by the rule of funny Its the fact that it's toonforce *outside* the world of looneytoons in a universe with a clear set of rules and consistant physics that limit the max power of any given individual. Luffy isn't merely a toon now, Toons are only able to be Toons in the world of toons Luffy is a fully fledged reality warper ala the mask brining toon logic into a world of physics and just laughing in the face of it.
What makes this fight extra awesome is that at this point we know how powerful Luffy is because he was named an Emperor, and this is him showing why he should have that title. This fight almost feels like we're now watching it as though we've been following Lucci's adventure and we're watching the "main character" battle a big boss of the world, and seeing just how much of a gap there still needs to be obtained. Basically, it helps cement the feeling that Luffy didn't just "get lucky" with earning the title of Emperor, but instead belongs there.
We definitely needed a reality check to know just how far Luffy has risen. We can often forget just how powerful he is since he's always going against the world's top powerhouses. Lucci, having also Awakened and been training, getting humbled is that reality check.
The most incredible part of this is the juxtaposition of the events. In Enies Lobby, Luffy was only just able to eek out a win over Lucci by giving damn near everything he had. On Egghead, a decade plus later IRL and more than 2 years later in universe, Luffy has turned an opponent who once nearly killed him (who hasn't exactly stagnated in strength either) into a punching bag, all while wearing the biggest, goofiest grin he can muster.
I like to believe Luffy used his Gear 5 abilities that can rubberize the environment around him on Lucci (which is why the punch seems to go all the through him and beyond) to literally keep from killing him. It was a merciful KO.

Seeing these rubber powers in action in the anime makes me understand why theyre so painful. When luffy makes contact with something he instantly rubberizes it. Basically these guys dont exactly feel the pain until the attack is over. Why? Bc once the attack ends the persons insides snap back into place after getting stretched out. Thats gotta hurt like hell.

For real 🤣 To make things worse worse when he isn’t turning you or your surroundings in to rubber, he’s slapping you the insane loony toons effect. It seems silly but the reality is he can choose to toy with you at his leisure which means any attack you throw out uninterrupted is only because he’s letting you.
Plus if you add Ryuo armament haki which attacks your insides and Coating of Conqueror which is intrinsic to G5, those punches are definitely emperor level. Plus the way his opponents get rubberized so they get extra elastic force when they get punched away

What I love most about Luffy's power is that it mostly comes from his inventive and creative use of it. And that what we see him doing stays logically consistent throughout for what we know of what it is able to do. I.e. he can increase his attack strength and power by repeatedly rotating his limbs for extra speed
Thats the main reason why luffy is the first person to awaken the fruit in centuries. People often complain that this is a stupid power up, but Luffy trained hard for it and his fights were never easy. Luffy isnt powerful because he has a strong devil fruit. The devil fruit is powerful because of Luffy

So far most of the moves he's been using are a more powerful, bigger, and/or faster version of his old moves but it almost feels like the creativity he used to display at the beginning of One piece. I still think the very beginning of the series was the most creative Luffy had been, but sometimes it feels like One Piece is going back to that kind of magic with Gear Five.

That fight only seemed tough until Luffy pulled out Gear Fourth, and it only seemed like he might lose because he ran out of the form once and had to get it back. Katakuri was tough if you ignore the fact that the whole point of the fight was that Katakuri couldn’t put Luffy down no matter how hard he tried… meaning that Luffy was all but guaranteed to win that fight. Kaido was honestly Luffy’s first tough fight after the timeskip.
I think Oda has been drawing all the Gear 5 panels with the anime in mind, the cartoon-like animation is something that feels like it was made for anime specifically.

I love that all the fights now use the style from the Kaido fight when Luffy awakened the fruit. It's like the awakening actually changed the whole world and people don't even notice they've become Looney Tunes characters. I also love that when Lucci went into his awakened state he had his own "drums of liberation" theme that played for a bit. I hope they continue that and each time we see an awakened fruit in use we get their individual little theme.

To make things worse worse when he isn’t turning you or your surroundings in to rubber, he’s slapping you the insane loony toons effect.
It seems silly but the reality is he can choose to toy with you at his leisure which means any attack you throw out uninterrupted is only because he’s letting you.
Plus if you add Ryuo armament haki which attacks your insides and Coating of Conqueror which is intrinsic to G5, those punches are definitely emperor level.
Plus the way his opponents get rubberized so they get extra elastic force when they get punched away

@@Ptolemy336VV In Wucci's defense, Gear 5 seems to be non serious in nature. From a fighting perspective it's probably similar to fighting a "drunken warrior" in that it's so unpredictable that it's good.

I'm fairly certain the lack of sound indicated it was going way to fast for Lucci to react. Going so fast Luffy decided he needed eye protection.
What I love most about Luffy's power is that it mostly comes from his inventive and creative use of it. And that what we see him doing stays logically consistent throughout for what we know of what it is able to do. I.e. he can increase his attack strength and power by repeatedly rotating his limbs for extra speed
Thats the main reason why luffy is the first person to awaken the fruit in centuries. People often complain that this is a stupid power up, but Luffy trained hard for it and his fights were never easy. Luffy isnt powerful because he has a strong devil fruit. The devil fruit is powerful because of Luffy

So far most of the moves he's been using are a more powerful, bigger, and/or faster version of his old moves but it almost feels like the creativity he used to display at the beginning of One piece. I still think the very beginning of the series was the most creative Luffy had been, but sometimes it feels like One Piece is going back to that kind of magic with Gear Five.
@@querish2813His fights were never easy? Most of his fights after the timeskip were easy. His fight with Hody was a joke. Caesar was a joke. Even Doflamingo was a joke. That fight only seemed tough until Luffy pulled out Gear Fourth, and it only seemed like he might lose because he ran out of the form once and had to get it back. Katakuri was tough if you ignore the fact that the whole point of the fight was that Katakuri couldn’t put Luffy down no matter how hard he tried… meaning that Luffy was all but guaranteed to win that fight. Kaido was honestly Luffy’s first tough fight after the timeskip.

I love that all the fights now use the style from the Kaido fight when Luffy awakened the fruit. It's like the awakening actually changed the whole world and people don't even notice they've become Looney Tunes characters.
I also love that when Lucci went into his awakened state he had his own "drums of liberation" theme that played for a bit. I hope they continue that and each time we see an awakened fruit in use we get their individual little theme.
