As an audio production student, I just want to take a moment to appreciate how sound design was used to illustrate Shanks' speed. If you listen to the sound of Kids Damned Punk charging at 0:20 you hear the pitch climbing pretty steadily, then, from 0:31 to 0:48 the pitch stays exactly the same! It doesn't continue to climb in pitch again until right before Shanks uses Divine Departure
That attention to detail adds so much to this scene, and is something I never would have noticed before!

@@BepoD.Bear25 one piece production currently has one flaw which is the sounds. It's just overused and it's the same music and sounds they've been using for the past decade.. they're outdated sounds and due to the library not being so extense, you can predict what sounds will be used and some of them aren't exactly fitting to what should be being played as they don't have anything else to cover it

Exactly, I think that is a detail a lot of people miss. Shanks deals with a threat. Unlike his fellow Yonko's, Kaido and Big Mom. They capture people they have no business capturing, Shanks actually takes the "Worst Generation" seriously. There is a reason, he are still here and they aren't (they actually probably aren't dead, because this is One Piece, but they aren't Yonkos anymore)

One thing I must say even as a Shanks fan. The scene with Kid and Killer is actually quite deep. Kid always being overconfident and not caring if he suffers from consequences. But this time his best friend and crew paid the price for his actions and you can see Kid regretting that deeply, as he slowly falls unconcious. Major character development incoming.

Egghead is crazy, it started no more than 24 eps ago, and 4 episodes that are masterpieces in terms of animation and direction, the opening chapter of the arc, Luffy vs Lucci, Law vs Blackbeard and now Shanks vs Kid. It literally doesn't look like a weekly broadcast work
these episodes are made months in advance. It's not like they get all this done in a week. The better their scheduling is the better the episodes will be

If Law and Kidd had chosen differen than Kidd would have lost against Blackbeard but Law and his crew would have been fine because Law wouldn't have picked a fight with Shanks.

The frightening thing is the combo attack, they most likely didn't put everything into it so it implies there's a stronger version of it too.

He didn’t even beat Big Mom. He just pushed her off on island with the help from Law, and it was the explosion that knocked her out. Honestly I don’t know how Kid can be so full of himself.
In a 1v1 Big Mom would’ve bodied Kidd and Law there’s a reason Oda had them 2v1 her and tbh if he didn’t nerf her in that fight with Kid and Law I think she would’ve bodied them
He barely survived an encounter with one Yonko despite all the help in that fight, then he took that W and decided it meant he would be able to solo a completely different one.
Man the ost at 0:56 is godly. Only fit to display overwhelming power and it makes Shanks even more badass. For Kid it just feels devastating like brother you needed to get out of there like out, not stay and attempt to start a fight because he didn’t even managed to do that.

He used it, it was a try of killing kid before he does something dangerous
This is the same man who dueled Mihawk regularly. That was not his full strength, it was a sufficient show of force to stop the threat.

People overlook the fact that Kidd's attack was so strong that shanks saw him as a threat.
Well, i doubt Shanks saw him as a threat. He just didn't want any unnecessary damage so he dealed with it quickly.
Your overlooking that all of shanks fleet are weak and old and are under his flag for protection, He was a threat to the innocent people around him yes but not to Shanks or his crew

For all the chapters of one piece, it does strike me how this is probably the first time (if not the first time in a long while) that we get to see what Shanks is truly capable of. Someone who seemingly rarely fights, but when he does, it does seem to end just as quickly as it starts (or when he shows up to a fight, the fighting comes to an abrupt halt).
oda tends to do every yonko justice when showing their strengths. if only he did the same for admirals

Think about the terror that those Shanks v Mihawk duels were really like. Whitebeard said they shook the Grand Line and it's starting to seem like he meant that literally.
Just a reminder that Kidd is far from weak, he was just placed against an impossible opponent
Not to mention, Shanks only did that because he KNEW Kidd’s attack was extremely dangerous
I would argue he isn't that strong because he doesn't utilize any form of advanced haki. Heck he doesn't even use the base forms of haki. So his potential is quite high.
To his crew and the surroundings, not Shanks himself or even Beckman
Oh he's definitely weak. In haki usage. Kaido said it best, can't conquer jack without haki. All he did was awaken his fruit.
Or too cocky I mean Law did much better against Big Mom when Kidd was held back by Hawkins and Blackbeard too.

@kaori1621 if shanks would have got hit by that attack he would be one shot along with Ben beckman which is why he had to attack kid when kid was at his most vulnerable while charging his attack. I am pretty sure that attack has an 11 second charge time. Kid also can't move or do anything while charging it.

Big mom never saw Kidd as a threat. as a result she was reckless and made alot of mistakes such as not using her full power from the start and it still took kid law and many others to finally take her down. Well the way I've always seen is similar to how experienced boxers can tell how the fight's going to go/where the opponent is going to punch. Obviously it's played up to 11 since this is an anime, but the basic principle is the same. Similarly to how, again using boxing as a reference point, armament is the difference between punching at and punching through, and conquerors is just psyching people out with your presence to a degree where they lose the fight before a punch if ever thrown (Tyson - Spinks).

And just as the Gryphon protects the riches of the gods, Shanks protects his Captain's One Piece.
