Black Celebration era, an obscure album for an obscure time for the band. The atempt of came out from the underground and be a successful popular band. But not yet, Black Celebration was very necessary, to prove dignity and maturity. For my point of view, the best album and, But Not Tonight, the greatest single from the 80s. That would never be possible without Alan Wilder, our sound genius, the translator for the soundtrack of a generation. Love and respect to you Alan.
I know that some of the band were not especially fond of this song (we love you Alan!) but you interpreted it in such a beautiful, different way. Its an absolutely lovely song! Thank you Vaughn!
I’m late to this, but bravo! What a phenomenal and emotional reimagining. Had me thinking about my past, a past in which this song was more relevant in the music landscape. When times were simpler and my family was bigger. Made me long for those times. Sublime ❤
My favorite Depeche Mode song since 2005. Meant everything to me at a time I didn't know I needed it. This song saved my life. I keep coming back to this UA-cam video. Remains my most favorite song of all time. And beautifully done, Vaughn (Vaughty).
Thank you, Vaughn, for giving us just another opportunity to hear distinctly how unbelievably great songwriting on BS was. What a huge leap in quality Martin did with this album!
Enjoyed this a lot - nice work! BNT is one of my all time favorites from DM and it really lends itself well to a piano interpretation. Hearing Martin sing it live in concert 10 years ago is at the top of my DM concert experiences over the years.
Thank you Vaughn for your interpretation of DM’s BNT instrumental. I feel one of the most underrated DM Side B songs. Then again, coming up against a formidable unique 1st BC single called Stripped is a mammoth task.😅
I absolutely love it when you do this, One of the best things on UA-cam you have such a great ear 👏👏👏 I would love to hear, fly on the windscreen one day like this.
Wow. great cover of a great tune, the live version (you know the one) is amazing and this piano version kind of replicates that. It's so interesting to hear the vocal notes included and your added intricacy. Very nice.. I've messed around with synths etc for decades, still cant play, and massacred many DM covers. Wouldn't ever have attempted this one. It looks so complex. I seen them live on the last date of the violator tour and twice on devotional, crystal palace and birmingham..
This touches my heart, Vaughn! I'm sending it to my boyfriend who's a pianist and vocal coach, in the hope that he'll be inspired. Cheers, from my native California this time (not Paris)! 🫶
@@VaughnGeorge I’m a big fan of your DM piano interpretations (Looking forward to hearing any news about the Brian Griffen DM photo exhibition following last week’s livestream) 😊
A free-flowing Piano Interpretation of "But Tonight" by Depeche Mode performed by Vaughn George.
Yes!
Absolutely dynamite ❤

2:15-2:22, right hand playing the notes same as the original track. Don't see that very much on piano, very impressive!

Great video as usual Vaughn. I was just wondering if you have listened to any of the bands Alan Wilder was a member in before DM?
