Between Wasteland's Desert Rangers and Fallout's Desert Rangers, the Fallout version feel as if they are more terrifying to raiders and ne'er-do-wells.
I wish there was a story about a particular band of rangers tracking, moving, making camp and even fighting like legion soldiers and making their stand against several legionaires. Just like Jack Hays and his rangers did against the comanche and other native americans.
Continuing my comments relating to the OWB mod for Hearts of Iron, the Desert Rangers were once a independent faction (largely just a Wasteland reference) even though the game start happens past the Unification. However, with the Nevada rework, there is a schism in the Rangers and a Rogue Ranger carves a little statelet out in central Nevada. Assuming everything goes well within the campaign, this Rogue Ranger will overthrow California and create a new Desert Rangers. However, there is a path where the Rogue Ranger is defeated by a loyalist and the Rangers are reunified once more, albeit with most of Nevada being a NCR territory. Also within Old World Blues, we are shown whats in Baja. It is two large but fairly irrelevant Raider tribes, who only exist as early game expansionism currently.
the Rogue Rangers are also based on the Arizona Rangers from the Wasteland series (a huge inspo for the original Fallout games). the leaders are from the Wasteland games, which is the most obvious connect. really fun faction to play as and build yourself up
I actually found this video really interesting as I've not played New Vegas in its entirety and just believed that the Rangers were always part of the NCR, but it's cool to know that they were actually they're own faction at one point.
They were one of the few groups in postwar America to have good hearts and be considered heroes of the wastes who punish those who would do evil and protect & save the innocent from the evils of the wastes, just like Randal Clarke from honest hearts with Mexicans and sorrows tribe ancestors.

Even though this a fallout lore video the Freestar Rangers in starfield gives me that NCR and desert rangers vibes from Fallout: New Vegas especially the Freestar Rangers’s Spacesuit it looks almost similar (minus the helmet) to the NCR veteran ranger amour. To be fair, the Desert Rangers deserve their own spin-off game or dlc. My wallets at the ready if this ever happens 😂
Easily one of my most role-played factions. Long live the desert rangers.
They are my favorite looking armor in all the games, they look so iconic.
You can find a dead NCR ranger in the Divide wearing the Advanced Riot Gear though, as well as the elite variant I believe
They are a homage to The Desert Rangers from the Wasteland series.
Reminder the the Desert Rangers were the ones with the iconic armour and the NCR just stole it.
People don't know most the veteran rangers are the desert rangers. The park rangers are the average and most numerous ncr ranger.
@@zm1786I mean, even the “park ranger” ones are the equivalent of a marine green beret, an army ranger, a navy seal, etc, it’s just that the veteran rangers (desert rangers) are just far far better
@@zm1786 no, the real desert ranger were extinct by the time of the game. What you see is just ncr trooper who gains rank to become "vet". The real desert ranger dies.
@@wojakthecrusader1410 the desert rangers literally signed a treaty with the NCR and were absorbed into their ranks in exchange for fighting the legion
Great video as always, I've always been interested in the rangers they always seemed so cool.
Everybody forgets that the Arizona Rangers have been around for as long as the Texas Rangers. Logically, they and any surviving US Park Rangers would have formed the organizational backbone of the Desert Rangers.
😮
I love these videos. So glad I found your channel. Would you ever consider doing a video on the Brotherhood of Steel? I know it would be quite the sizable video but I think it would be awesome to have all their lore in one place done by the best lore channel I know for Fallout 😊
The Reason why the Rangers were sent south was because of the conquest of the Rapid Tribe and many veterans were sent to settle in the location
9:27 "They're mearly chasing ghosts"
Could Hanlon refere to the Enclave remnants?
Synonymous GOATED
Great works as always Synonymous I appreciate your great content
Between Wasteland's Desert Rangers and Fallout's Desert Rangers, the Fallout version feel as if they are more terrifying to raiders and ne'er-do-wells.
I wish there was a story about a particular band of rangers tracking, moving, making camp and even fighting like legion soldiers and making their stand against several legionaires. Just like Jack Hays and his rangers did against the comanche and other native americans.
The Wasteland game lore would be cool to hear barely anybody covers it we already heard fallout lore 100s of times now no disrespect
It is two large but fairly irrelevant Raider tribes, who only exist as early game expansionism currently.
the Rogue Rangers are also based on the Arizona Rangers from the Wasteland series (a huge inspo for the original Fallout games). the leaders are from the Wasteland games, which is the most obvious connect. really fun faction to play as and build yourself up
@@heathdionne7717 wasteland was also made by interplay
I actually found this video really interesting as I've not played New Vegas in its entirety and just believed that the Rangers were always part of the NCR, but it's cool to know that they were actually they're own faction at one point.
They were one of the few groups in postwar America to have good hearts and be considered heroes of the wastes who punish those who would do evil and protect & save the innocent from the evils of the wastes, just like Randal Clarke from honest hearts with Mexicans and sorrows tribe ancestors.
Tycho was good guy even tho he was kinda useless in combat. would love a spinoff with these guys in utah
Wow, I didn't know the Veteran Rangers had so much lore!
After watching the show I wonder if the Rangers being sent south is tied into the fall of shady sands
NCR Veteran Ranger armor>>>>>>>Power Armor(every variant)
My favorite armor, even more so than the T-60 Power Armor
This is my favorite Fallout game. It has the best setting and lore.
In my personal head cannon, the desert rangers are still around even after the NCR collapsed (or whatever happened to them in the TV show) and are still protecting the wasteland and slowly rebuilding their numbers.
It would be interesting to see the NCR face off against either East Coast Brotherhood or a revived Enclave. I'm sure they'd fare pretty well.
@@richmondcalivin you forgot, NCR got the numbers, even though Brotherhood Knights and Paladins have the training and superior equipment, they still lost to NCR Conscripts, NCR adapts too
@@richmondcalivinThe airship isn't too much of a threat. Its not even armed.
Liberty Prime is.a.definite threat BUT it seems he consumes too much power to walk him everywhere, the BoS dissemble and reassemble him at a secured base of operations so the NCR have a chance at intercepting him while he's parts *if* they can gather the intelligence to know how and where he's being transported
@@herrdoctor2895 East Coast BoS has the numbers too. They'd pretty much wipe the NCR.

They gotta make a pre-rendered movie (like the opening cutscene) of Fallout: New Vegas. That would be ballin.
Just another reason why New Vegas is still my favorite game in the fallout franchise and the lore video of the desert rangers was very entertaining to watch 💯. Watching your videos makes me love fallout even more.
loll its hereeeeee, i was literally thinking of suggesting this episode , about ranger like 2 days ago
What if the Sierra Madre is in the Baja? and the threat is the ghosts there. Hanlon said “They’re just chasing ghosts”
Cause the eyes, of the ranger .... Are upon you....
90s kids only
Thank you for your videos man
I’ve been waiting for a new video! Thank God 😂
Also if possible can you do one on the Beast Lords. I know fallout tactics is kinda not canon but I think their interesting 😁
Just when i was searching a video to watch while eating.
Babe wake up a new synonymous video dropped
Still some of my most favorite video game characters
Randall Clark was Wastleland Jesus
Accurate
As long as they don't make me pay taxes, I have no problem with them.
This guy is the best fallout youtuber!
Ngl the rangers don't have power armor or incredible blade proficiency, but regular people in body armor, canvas jackets and carbines or heavy rifles just itch something in my brain. They're SO COOL
This whole video was this guy saying that these are not just normal people, the regular NCR rangers are already the equivalent of real world special force military, and the desert rangers are a step above that. And in the world of fallout, they’re pretty much superhuman
Imagine being so well trained and having a reputation of not leaving anything alive that even your own friends are scared of you.
The desert rangers are just free armor and guns for me.
Oh shittt! Here we go!!
Excited to see this, I’m getting a tat of one next month 😁
Id love to see you cover the tranquility lane lore, and my favorite character of new Vegas, yes man...😂
I hope we see them in season 2 of the Fallout show
Tip about Snipers, Don't bother running, you'll only die tired.
Tried a playthrough where I sided with the Legion over the NCR. The Heavy Troopers were tough but the Ranger Vets seemed to be able to fight on equal terms with me regardless of my level. From my perspective only the Legate could fight on equal terms with the Ranger Vets.
Praise the warm glow of atom, for he hath brought us another synonymous video
TEARS ROLLING DOWN HEHE VERY NICE MAN.
To this day the HARDEST sci fi design out there
I'm not that keen on NCR as a faction but NCR Rangers look sick as fuck
“… we’re in the Waste, then,” said Lukas.
