I live in Rio, Brazil and there is no authorized repair shop here. My watch has stopped, I charged it but the time was wrong. I spent almost 2 months (!) to adjust it. And now, after watching your presentation, I finally set it to the right time. Thanks!!
I saw this watch in the Detroit Airport and held off buying ensuring myself it was not an impulse buy. I kept thinking and going on line and reading so finally made the purchase. I received it and anxiously opened it and saw it was in the wrong time zone and date was off, must of been in case for too long and battery was dead. I gave it a day to charge up thinking the radio control would catch it and correct time and date, WRONG.... I tried following the instructions but to no avail. The instructions should of said "Need Degree in Japanese Physics to set time and date". I went to a Citizen Watch Jewelry and begged for help as i was too confused. They told me it was too difficult and would take them 45 min to do it so i left .Then i went to youtube and saw a lotta videos but YOU my friend saved the DAY!!!! I was able to follow along with you step by step and set my new time and date on my watch. Thank you very much your video was and is the best instructional video out there on this watch. If anyone is reading this review look no further follow this video and only this video... Thanks again !
Tim Davis thank you so much for your reply Tim, this is the exact reason I put this video up online. Enjoy your new watch. It's one of my favorites still
I was going nuts with my watch until I see your video. The last step (Second Hand) is for setting the month and leap year. Dec at 12:00, Jan at 1:00, Feb at 2:00...ex. June 2021 (1 year since leap year)...point the second hand at one minute past the 6:00. Thank you very much.
Thank you for the explanation! What happens if I set incorrectly at last step? Do I have to restart reset procedure or just force the watch into manual time update and it will update itself???
This is great, thank you! Btw, the bezel is the outer ring of the dial and also the inner time zone bezel. The three buttons are not bezels. The one at 3 o'clock is the crown. The others are pushers.
Very helpful video man, I was wondering if my ape mind was going to be able to comprehend the manual, then I found your video. I will recommend your video to anyone who gets this watch!!
Mark, this is the best and easiest video in order to set this watch up correctly. Throw out the manual citizen gives you! Your video tutorials are my go to for my resets etc. Given I don’t wear it much (thanks to Apple Watches) and it goes flat regularly, when I decide to to wear the blue angel again I need to watch your video first, reset, and go. Given I live in Melbourne, it’s like have you walk through it sitting next to me! Again Thanks Mark!
Oh my God!! My Blue Angels eco drive’s battery just died for the first time and I just couldn’t fix the time and date. As mentioned by other members, the GPS thing doesn’t work once the battery is dead. This video is so information and I guess it is the only video!! I will follow this step by step and see if I can make it work. Just came here for a quick thanks!
You saved my Citizen Blue Angel Eco Drive from being tossed in the drawer of forgotten watches. Your tutorial was very well done and made resetting my watch easy. I had watched several other videos and yours was by far the best, Thank-you.
Great tutorial. I got my Blue Angel all set. I didn’t even m ow there was a daylight saving function but it makes sense. Thanks for that. With your guidance it isn’t complicated at all.
Thank you I have had this watch for over two years now and have only worn it twice. Somehow, the watch stopped and I could not get it going again. But thanks to your excellent video ut's running like new again and I can wear one of my favorites in my collection. This is a great video and easy to comprehend and the best that I've seen so far.
Thank you so much for connecting and commenting. It’s the reason I made this video because it’s a difficult reset. And also one of my favourite watches as well. Cheers
Awesome and really well-made video with high production-quality and totally accurate. I used it to reset my 2 y/o Citizen Blue Angels eco-drive watch which had inexplicably gotten about 29 minutes off no idea why it was fully charged. Anyway, followed all the very clear steps and was able to get it reset and now it is back to keeping great time. Thanks!
after watching your video several times (and some others, as well as the citizen web site) and getting partway there, the radio signal corrected the day, but on the next rotation of time signal it set the time back an hour (sheesh). this morning got the daylight savings correct (maybe). time will tell if the next time signal fights my progress. thanks, you got me started.
saga continues (with success). upper hand where dst set reverted to about 40 (9 o'clock position). because it had been stored so long in relative darkness, i suspected might be a charge indicator--and leaving under a very bright led flashlight returned this little hand to 12 o'clock, presumably fully charged. took about 20 minutes. thanks again.
Absolute lifesaver. For some reason my bottom chrono was off mark so I was trying to follow the reset instructions on paper, but it was so much easier seeing you do it. What a legend
Thank you so much for this easy and clear instruction, I've searched so much on internet and couldn't find any good instruction on how to reset and set the time properly, even the user manual wasn't clear but your video was fantastic. Many thanks
superb video, extremely helpful and spot on, my blue angels eco drive went dead, replaced capacitor and reset according to this gentlemens direction and watch is up and running

TYVM sir perfectly and clearly explained i had no instructions with mine had set th time and date manually and wondered why mysecond hand stayed parked lol, once again TYVM definite life saver.
Excellent tutorial. It would have been much more difficult to setup this watch without your video. No instructions came with my purchase, even thought it was New and tagged from eBay.
Quick correction on the last part, it's not to set the second again, it's to set the month and "years past leap year". So the months are 1-12 on the dot. If it is a leap year, you leave the second exactly on the hour mark. For each year past leap year, you move the second hand one minute mark forward. So 2016 is the last leap year, so for March 2017 you'd set the second hand to the 16 minute mark
@gothops154 i'm confused about this last step of setting if you can help me, where do I need to set the it if the year is '24 July? I do everything good but not the last step am messing around probably. Thank you!
@@ivanalin4043 July is the 7th month so you would move it to the 7 o’clock hour mark (aka 35 minute mark). 2024 is a leap year, so you don’t add anything else you just leave it there. If for example we were in 2025, aka 1 year past leap year, you would add +1 and thus go to the 36 minute mark. If it was 2026, aka 2 years past leap year, you would go to 37. At 2028, you would reset and again go back to 35 minute mark (assuming it was still July - the 7th month!!)
For another example, if it was August, you would start at 8 o’clock aka 40 minute mark. For 2024 you would stay at 40. For 2025 you would go to 41, 2026 you would go to 42, etc. Hope this helps
Awesome video and very helpful. I think you got it wrong at the end when you set the seconds... I'm pretty sure that is setting the month and year ie.. leap year, first year second year, and third year. But I would have to double check the manual.
Thank goodness for this video! It certainly clears up the written instructions. This video is a must see and save for anyone that owns one of these watches!
Hi Mark, changing time for this watch, was like, flying an airplane, I appreciate your knowledge, it was very informative, one question, if I want to change the time manually, do I have to repeat all the steps again? Thank you for the great information!
Jeez, I just bought this watch as an impulse buy for like $270 CAD, and holy crap I can't believe how smart it is. Citizen's engineers really knew what they were doing when they designed this watch. It's like an analog version of a digital G-SHOCK but way nicer!
Thanks for the beautiful demo you gave. There's one thing I couldn't get in the last part of the actual correction of time. I couldn't get the real time after correction. It was always behind about 4-5 minutes. And there was the problem of resetting it yet again, same result.
Thanks for commenting Ray. It’s the reason I decided to make the video. Citizen should make better tutorials for there amazing watches. Glad it could be of help 👌
Hi Mark, Thanks so much for posting this vid. It's managed to resolve some of the issues with mine, but I still appear to be having dramas with the second hand jumping and moving about. I'm starting to suspect it is either loose on axis or something else is wrong internally. Ever seen that happen? When I pull the crown out half way to start the manual setting (after doing the full reset) the second hand doesn't move back to the 12 o'clock position (it's at the 3 o'clock).
I get screwed at 7:07; the middle thing is already pulled out once. Pull it all the way out??? I'm startin to hate this watch... …the instruction manual plus this video seem to work. Still aggravating though. recap: Weeks since I did the reset, the watch works perfectly. Ultimately, the experience has given me a new appreciation for the way the sweep hand hits its target dead on 60 times a minute. I love it again.
When I got to part 2, when we are supposed to select the closest city with the second hand, it just kept on skipping (2 sec at a time) and wouldn't stop. Not sure what's going on here. Edit: it does that when the watch is insufficiently charged. I just let fully charged then followed along this instruction and it worked. Thank you!
MRP thanks for taking the time to put together this very detailed video that in my option Citizen should have done on their website when they released this model awesome job !!!!
I'm looking at getting this watch. Does it wear alright? I guess I'm thinking of that plastic looking blue angel decal on the back of the watch. Is it fading or anything? Cheers
A Nugent it wears beautiful. It is not real heavy for a high quality watch. The rear decal hasn't faded one bit and it has barely any scratches for being 3 years old.
Hey mate, I'm in Mexico city, when u put the time on Sydney.. Ive to change it for Mexico? Cos the near or my country is LAX Los Angeles, so, which one Ive to put in the saving days, cos if I do like u my time is wrong when I finish the video :(.. Help!
Still a helpful video in 2019. Thanks, mate. I have a question, though. How do you adjust the time if I need to? My watch is five minutes behind the actual time.
Thanks heaps, I’m glad this is still useful, I used it myself a few months ago 😂😂 As far as I know there is no way to manually set the time without resetting the entire watch However let me look into this a bit more and get back to you. Cheers. Mark
Very helpful, thank you. However, the date has readjusted wrong - it's a day behind. How do I correct it, without going through the entire rig ramole again of resetting all functions? Is there an easy way (like most normal watches) to simply change the time? I don't want to do anything until I know I don't have to go through the entire re-setting process again. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately the complexity of this Watch is its only downfall. I haven’t found a way to change the date only. If I get the setting sequence wrong I had to start again. Which isn’t ideal. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. If I find a quicker solution I’ll be sure to let you know
@@MarkEnsbeyMPR Unfortunately they don't tell you than when you buy it. I was told it needed no input from me and would adjust automatically, no matter where I was in the world. Obviously a lie to sell the watch.
@@KieranRevell unfortunately the Auto adjustment only works in certain world zones. After purchasing this watch i realised that where i live wasn't included. A shame. But i still love this watch none the less.
I'm from central America and every 4 or 5 days this watch starts automatically to search a new hour after I set manually. Do you know what can I do to to stop this ?
Excellent video. Only the buttons are not called bezel. the bezel is the ring around the mineral glass. The top and bottom one are called pushers and the middle on is called the crown
They should have radio control active as standard. But the radio controlled function only works in certain areas of the world. I found that out the hard way with my Blue Angels, the radio control auto function does not work in my city. So I have to set mine manually.
@@MarkEnsbeyMPR Many thanks for the reply, it used to work but I left the watch in a drawer for couple of months and the watch didn't work properly until now that I saw your video and reset it, but I think the auto radio controll thing is not working
@@feryjory Oh Ok, I'll look into it further for you, But my understanding is that with full charge, and then a reset, the Radio Control should work. Leave it with me. Have a great day
Yes this is true. However the only way this works is by keeping sun (power) to it constantly. Not to mention. There are a number of cities the ‘auto function’ does not adhere to. Still a ripper watch though 😎
Kevin Lambert the radio signal only works in certain cities and countries. For example. The whole of Australia, it o my works in Sydney. But the battery also needs to be above 10% I think to function correctly
I can get it partially done I must have some radio signal after I set the city it moves to where it thinks what time and date it is and continues like it got it right
This needs sunlight to charge, I haven’t heard of any way these can charge with a lamp. Sit it on a windows sill for a few days and you should be back in business
My chronograph dial at 12' 0 lock it jus jitters at the on position and dont continuously spin. .what can be the cause of this. i recently changed my capacitor
Yes you can. However, you need to be in one of the selected ‘radio zones’ for this to work. The citizen website has the appropriate zones that allow auto time & date operations.
As beautiful as it looks, this watch is a friggin' headache. I am guessing all Eco-Drive watches are a pain to reset. If you have a lot of watches you won't be wearing this often and if it's not exposed to light it will die. Just to bring it back in order to reset it, you have to charge it in light for days. Extremely painful. Then to reset it, it is another headache. Thanks to this awesome video the resetting process is made simple, but overall, I would say, don't buy an Eco-Drive unless it's the only watch you will have.
Naw, I only wear mine every couple of weeks. Just make sure you store it where it gets light every day...such as in a glass-top watch box. This watch looks like it ought to cost about 5 times what it actually does cost, and all Eco-Drives are beautiful, practical watches (although admittedly a PIA to set manually), so everyone should own one.

Well done Mate! Saved my time and money.Goodon u .
You’re welcome Eldo!! Happy to help
dude excellent video tutorial. Work just like you explained. thanks.
Still a helpful video in 2019. Thanks, mate. I have a question, though. How do you adjust the time if I need to? My watch is five minutes behind the actual time.
Thanks heaps, I’m glad this is still useful, I used it myself a few months ago 😂😂
As far as I know there is no way to manually set the time without resetting the entire watch
However let me look into this a bit more and get back to you.
Cheers.
Mark
I thought this watch had perpetual calendar but I didn't see you putting leap year correction. So I suppose it has only annual ?
Thanks Bro, very accurate, works perfect !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best video what I found on net for blue angel . thx
Thank you! I was going crazy trying to figure this thing out 😊
Your very welcome. I’m glad it could help
Thanks 🙏 a bunch. Saved my day.
Extremely helpful video man. Thanks a ton for posting this
You’re most welcome. Glad it could be of assistance
I'm from central America and every 4 or 5 days this watch starts automatically to search a new hour after I set manually. Do you know what can I do to to stop this ?
I haven't come across this ever. If i find a solution, ill let you know
Thank you so much! work ed perfectly mate!
thank you it helps a lot its so hard to work on it
bruno mora your welcome.
This helps me so much 👍
Excellent video. Only the buttons are not called bezel. the bezel is the ring around the mineral glass. The top and bottom one are called pushers and the middle on is called the crown
That was wonderful, it helped to set my time correctly at last. 👍
Glad this video is still helping people
Thank you ❤ very much. Finally i reset my watch.
You’re welcome. Glad I could help out.
A follow up question Mark, how do you activate radio controll on Citizen eco drive WR200 (red arrow edition)?
Have a great day
Very helpful thanks!!!
Great video, but isn't the point of this watch that it's able to set everything (aside from time zone) by itself?
Yes this is true. However the only way this works is by keeping sun (power) to it constantly.
Not to mention. There are a number of cities the ‘auto function’ does not adhere to.
Still a ripper watch though 😎
@@MarkEnsbeyMPR Ah I did not know that. Are you saying it'll only get a radio signal if the battery level is over some percent charged?
Kevin Lambert the radio signal only works in certain cities and countries.
For example. The whole of Australia, it o my works in Sydney. But the battery also needs to be above 10% I think to function correctly
I can get it partially done I must have some radio signal after I set the city it moves to where it thinks what time and date it is and continues like it got it right
How long does it take to recharge from zero with a lamp? I haven’t used it in a long time but it hasn’t been in zero light yet it’s completely stopped
This needs sunlight to charge, I haven’t heard of any way these can charge with a lamp.
Sit it on a windows sill for a few days and you should be back in business
Mark Ensbey yeah, I left it on the window sill and it started to work. Now I have to reset it which is a major pain in the ass.
Mario G yeah it is definitely one of the most in depth resets. But totally worth it 👌😎
My watch does not change the date at midnight even though the 24 hour dial is in sync.any suggestions would be helpful.
Could anyone please help ?
My chronograph dial at 12' 0 lock it jus jitters at the on position and dont continuously spin. .what can be the cause of this. i recently changed my capacitor
After I do the time zone set up the watch automatically starts going to change the day is that normal?
great help jewelers here in tampa fl didn't have a clue.
Your welcome. Glad this could help.
thanks, i think! i suppose someone could do this, but not me. next time target practice, this thing goes with me (as the target).
Can you just select your time zone and let the radio do all the setting for you?
This watch looks like it ought to cost about 5 times what it actually does cost, and all Eco-Drives are beautiful, practical watches (although admittedly a PIA to set manually), so everyone should own one.
hi, GREA GREAT VIDEO, BUT MY WATCH DIDN´T GET FIXED, EVERYTHING WAS OK UNTIL THE MINUTE 6 IN THE VIDEO, WHERE YOU HAVE TO PLACE THE SECONDS HAND, WHAT TIME YOU ARE CLOSEST TOO, AND THAT´S WHERE MY WATCH JUST DIDN´T STOP MAKING THE CIRCLES, CAN ANYBODY HELP ME?
Really Helpful.
