The STR/KE MVMNT Haze Trainer has been a seriously awesome surprise to train in and I credit my community for pushing me to review this model, so thank you, TF2 community!
The STR/KE MVMNT Haze Trainer has a simplistic design, but with subtle construction details that help it excel for activities lifting, HIIT, cross-training, and so much more.
In this STR/KE MVMNT Haze Trainer review, we're going to discuss the following in detail to help you decide if this model is a good fit for you.

Across the board, I've really enjoyed training in the STR/KE MVMNT Haze Trainers and think they're on the few newer cross-training shoes that walk the fine line between stability and versatility really well.
The only real drawbacks to this model are the slightly higher price point and the fact that they may not be the best model for athletes and lifters that need to use thicker custom orthotics.
If you're on the market looking into new cross-training shoes, then I'd highly suggest giving the Haze Trainer some consideration.
If you have any questions on this model, drop them in the comments below or reach out to me personally via Instagram (@jake_boly)!

Thanks for the review Jake! Love these shoes with how versatile they are!
A little tip for those with a wide foot and/or who have an insert/orthotics, I stuffed my shoes with socks at night before wearing them the next day to help break them in and create a little more room in the mid and forefoot due to the low profile of the shoe. Struggled with them being a little tighter at first but doing this has really helped and now they’re hella comfy.
Heck yes! I sincerely appreciate you sharing sizing and fit feedback for your model 💪 it’s always welcomed and needed!
Thank you for the great review.
Stoked you enjoyed it! Thank you 💪
Thnx for the review! Now Im thinking of considering buying them in the DS or Bred Colorway!
Welcome! Those are both solid colorways, too. If you decide to invest, keep me posted 💪
I wish this video review of these cross trainer was higher on the algorithm as I just bought these 2 days ago (as im writting this comment) and it solidified that it was a great choice that I have taken to buy new shoes for cross training. Great video and explanation. I'll follow up on the Ortho. I do have custom ortho but typically for sneakers I would buy 32$ ortho (3-in-1 ortho) and they are usually low profile enough - will report back if they are snug
Thank you! Keep me posted on how they work with the orthos!
I bought a pair the Strike Movements haze today in the black/red color. Exactly what I need.
Hell yeah, keep me posted with your thoughts, please!
Got em Jake. These rock. Simple, compact proportions, excellent hugging fit. Thanks!
Heck yeah! Stoked you enjoy them - wicked underrated!
be nice in a midtop
@@salsomma579 agreed!
I have never tried Strike Mvmnt before. I just got the Chill Pill Transit AF. I wish I tried them sooner to be honest. They are my new daily trainer.
Soo good!
I love mine. I’ve used them 3-4x a week for 3 months. Durable, great fit, comfortable, agile, true to size. I will buy another pair, I only wish I can catch a sale or use a coupon code
Feel you on that!
Went 1/2 size up and was the first choice on the DS black and red. Only thing I noticed was being able to feel the stitching where the tongue is connected to the upper, but may just be because of my thick foot.
The DS model is sick!
Hope you like them 🤝
Amazing how these smaller brands are coming up! Apart from price point I can't see too much of a reason NOT to get these.
I am not sure if you'll be able to read this but have you tried the new balance minimus TR v3s?
I love it, personally. This is how innovation happens and the game gets pushed in a good direction 💪
I have not yet, I’ve had multiple asks though…it might be time to invest and test them!
Hi Jake! Thank you for the great review. I know you mentioned that this shoe has more of an anatomical foot shape, and it also has a nice snug fit. Would you say that there is enough room in the toe box for the toes to fully splay? Also, would you say that the forefoot outsole shape allows your toes to stay flat? I am looking for a shoe that keeps my toes in a neutral position and does not extend them upwards. It looks to me like the forefoot is a bit raised... Thank you so much for your help!
Hey, Anna! There should be, but it really depends on your anatomical needs. If you have a narrow/neutral-width foot, then you shouldn't have issues, IMO.
There's a bit of toe spring, but that breaks in pretty quickly and doesn't typically hinder performance - and since the outsole in this model articulates better than most trainers it's pretty easy to ground the toes in these.
That being said, what are you currently rocking/do you like them?
I use "adidas stabil " since 2014 for crossfit and now for cardio and bodybuilding stuff ... they still look brand new !
That’s a tank of a shoe!
I'm quite sure, the Adidas Stabil is use for handball and volleyball. I didn't know that it's work for CrossFit or weightlifting....nice info.
@@Ultiminio for me they do the job, and they have a good stabilization.... I don't know if crossfit shoes are better now, but reebook had poor quality
Jake, review the York Henry Mesh mid-top.
Can do!
Hi Jake, would you recommend these for travel? I am mostly going to be in urban settings so there will be extended walks most of the time while carrying a travel backpack. Here and there I plan to go on a few short runs or drop in on some CrossFit classes.
I was looking at these or the On Cloud X3, although I’m not loving how the stiff collar feels on my ankle.
I regularly use these as my go-to travel shoes! I'd give the Haze a try. But pro tip, order them through The Wod Life because STR/KE can be a MAJOR pain with returns so if you want to try them out/potentially send back, you'll have better luck going through TWL, imo!
Hey Jake, really appreciate the reviews! I currently rock a pair of Metcon 7’s in a 11.5 with a thicker pair of custom orthotics for my flatter feet. Looking for a shoe to replace them and tried the Nano X1s but they don’t pair well with my orthotics (Narrower through the mid foot so the insert doesn’t sit flat).
Do you recommend I give these a try? If so, do you suggest sizing up .5 or staying true?
Hey, thank you!
I think you would really enjoy these, but I do worry that their upper volume may conflict with your orthotics. How is the fit in your Metcon 7 with the orthotics? Also, do you go true to size in them?
@@thatfitfriend They fit pretty well in the Metcons which I've always gone .5 size up in because of the toe-box. Wear 11s in Nanos and most other shoes.
Hey Jake! I just got these based on your recommendations and they are super solid.
One question though, they are pretty narrow and I took the insole out. Do you think that's fine for long term use? I went to a running store and got fitted (I have normal arch and wide feet).
Thanks!
Sick, glad you're liking them! Tbh, I think they'll break in for you so they won't feel tight especially when it comes to the volume of their construction.
You should be fine in doing so, but I'd say keep an active eye on the internal insole construction just to make sure there's no break down going on with the threads.
@@thatfitfriend Thanks for the fast response! I worn them for an hour or so at home (with the insole) and I already feel them breaking in. Will do a few sessions with them and see how it goes! Thanks for all your reviews! I got really into watching them recently haha :D
@@justinwuwuwu of course - and dope! They do tend to seem tight out of the box, but I’ve noticed with myself and others the upper breaks in well.
Haha, that’s awesome! stoked to have you, sir! 💪
I'm looking for a new shoe to replace my Speed TR 2.0...haven't been sold enough on either Metcons nor Nanos, as it seems like they're less versatile that I'd like. Been a few months since you posted this...how does this rank up with the Metcon 6 and Nano X now (since you preferred those 2 in the past)?
I think the Haze Trainer is the superior model to the Nano X and Metcon 6 - granted, not by much, but I do really like the Haze Trainer as being a "best of all worlds" style of shoe! Either way though - these are three great options that don't miss.
Which shoe is better than this for general use (heavy deadlifts, running, looks and casual wear?). Thanks for the video
Heyo! Want to check out my article covering the best cross-training shoes, then hit me with questions as you have them?
thatfitfriend.com/best-cross-training-shoes/
There can be handful a lot of options based on your preferences!
I'm after a gym shoe that can have the support to do crossfit lifts but more directed at the cardio workouts like rowing ski erg and skipping mixed in with box jump burpies etc that you expect in metcons etc. I'm hearing that these and the RAD ones give the most comfort for a mix of workouts but do you have one or 2 inpaticular that gives good comfort for these sorts of longer workouts over the lifts?
RAD and Haze are my two fave models atm, but the Nano X3 has been super promising thus far so if you can't get a pair of these then I think the new Nano will suffice. The CXT-1 Trainer is also pretty good, but can run pretty narrow and its higher drop is hit or miss for certain lifters!
I read your review for the Viktos Core 2 and the recommendation for flat feet but I was still spilling over the midfoot. Does the Haze have a wider midfoot? Thanks
It does not, you’ll feel Uber squeezed in these imo
Love these trainers but the only ones around are the grey's which are not for me
I see here that you’re doing trap bar deadlifts. Do these fair as well with doing standard deadlifts? Thanks again
Depends on your goals! I have a trap bar vs barbell deadlifts video on the channel. Want to check that out and then if you have any additional questions - hit me! 💪
Hi Jake! Thank you for your review. Do u think someone used to wear wide toebox shoes such as Nano 4, 8 & 9 as well as Vivobarefoot would be happy with the space that those Haze provide? (My big toe is squeezed on metcons and new nanos so if it's the same shape i may find it uncomfortable). Thank you once again!
I think you'd enjoy these, but it's really tough to say over the internet without you trying them on. IMO, once you broke them in, then you'd align with their fit based on the info you've shared!
@@thatfitfriend thank you v much for taking the time to answer me and for the info!

@@thatfitfriend that's amazing! Thank you and I'll follow up on Instagram 😁
Weird question on an old shoe... I noticed the Chill Pill mids are marked down to $65, on the Strike Mvmnt site, and was thinking about grabbing a pair. Are they worth it at that price and do you still recommend sizing up a full shoe size? (Every review mentions that they run small and the site still recommends going up a full size.)
IMO, yes, if you like the way they look. I rock my Mids when I want a higher boot for casual use and strength work. They're not going to be your "Best" training shoe ever, but I do like their style and for that price that's pretty fair since they're not going to be the best model in any one category.
To answer your question, I like them and think for $65 they're a fun model to have around and keep in your collection, but by no mean a necessity.
Really appreciate the input!
Just got my first Haze trainers yesterday. I went TTS and noticed my toe kept catching on the inside upper material (there is a little lip at the toe on the upper). Does the upper stretch out much?
Yeah, the upper should break in well for you, imo!
After this video I bought the Haze Trainer cause they look nice. After receiving them they are as beautiful as we saw on the video.
But unfortunately they are quite narrow for my feet.
By removing the insole they fit perfectly.
So my question for those who may help : Without the insole will it put too much pressure on my feet when running or doing things or is it ok to remove ?
Thanks !
Not necessarily. That's one of those things where you'll have ti simply test it and see as that's most personal preference!
You could also try using a thinner insole from different shoes you have!
Love the look of these but to get them over in the UK it costs an extra $25 shipping. Do you think its worth it?
I love barefoot training but looking for something like this, low profile with a small drop thats more functional, any other recommendations?
Cheers
Dang, good question! IMO, they're worth it if that $25 isn't going to completely break the bank. If you'd rather not spend that much for a pair of shoes which is totally understandable with the shipping, too, then going for a Metcon 6, NB Minimus, or Inov-8 Bare XF-210!
@@thatfitfriend Thanks so much, may just bite the bullet on these! Keep up the good work 👊
@@MrTehChris if you do, keep me posted on how you like them! 💪 thank you!
Check out WIT Fitness. They were available there and you may avoid the $25 in shipping.
@@iamcarlpaoli Thanks!
Hello! How are durable are these shoes long-term? I've read comments online that they don't last more than a year, but those same people are using them for CrossFit 4 - 5 times a week. I'd be wearing them mostly for weightlifting and light cardio 3x a week. My other option are Dropset Trainer 2s.
They can be hit or miss and that's a note I'm going to make in my updated 2024 review. Their durability varies and if you're wearing them for a lot of high-volume work then this becomes even more apparent. I've had 2 pairs last about 10-months before ripping and another rip after about 15 months.
If you're rotating them then you'll be fine, imo. I like to swap in my Haze with other shoes to make them last long or preserve them for lifting, cross-training, and walking and not necessarily tough WODs.
I think you'd like them more than the Dropset from the cardio context. Dropset takes the edge for lifting, though.
@@thatfitfriend Thanks a lot for the detailed answer!
How would you rate these for CrossFit compared to other shoes out there.
Great question - it would be easier if you had some direct examples to use for comparison. IMO, it's a model that walks the middle ground between something like a Metcon 6 (which falls short for versatility) and a Nano X1 (which is meh for lifting). It's a great all-in-one hybrid-style shoe.
Hey Jake - any idea the sizing of these compared to Converse or Vans? I’m 8.5 in Converse but I’m pretty sure these run big.
I'd stick 8.5 or go 8 in these! Either and you should be okay, imo. Buy from Box Basics in case you need to return. They're way better about returns compared to STRIKE
@@thatfitfriend thank you. That’s so unfortunate, Box Basics doesn’t have the triple black color way.
@@thatfitfriend wanted to give you an update. 8.5 was a little too small, a 9/9.5 would have been better. I wanted to try these because they look amazing, but I’ll be trying the Goruck Ballistic Trainers now. 25% off military discount is too good to pass up on a brand I already like.
@@a_colby sounds good! Keep me posted on how you like the GORUCK model
As for fit and performance they seem very similar to the Reebok Nano 2 or am I wrong?
Ehhh, kind of. Major fit difference is the lower tongue gusset in the Haze. Performance they're pretty similar with their lower stack heights and flexibility, though!
@@thatfitfriend Thanks for the reply. Do you think it would be worth spending $150 compared to $70/80 or the Reebok 2? Sounds like a lot of marketing to me
What color are these, the website says black but these look navy
Black! It’s prob just my poor lighting skills 😂
In metcons I am size 10, it’s the same here? Thank you!
Yep!
Hey, Jake. Do you have a discount code for Str/ke Mvmnt? They just dropped a new skate/training shoe I want to get. Also, I used your code for the Icarus Ascent 2. Thanks for that, and I hope I sent some money your way.
I don't, unfortunately. STR/KE is pretty tough to get coupons from sadly.
I appreciate that with the Icarus, it helps a ton! Thank you
@@thatfitfriend I'm not surprised. Oh, well. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I hope you and Maui have a good evening.
@@Murphy2043 welcome! And thank you, you too 🤝
How are these compared to the xero 360 ? (For CrossFit)
Verryyyy different. This model isn't going to replicate that barefoot shoe fit/feel. Hard to compare the two since they're in entirely diff shoe categories.
Do you have any specific Qs on this model regarding performance? Feel like I can give you better insights if you do!
@@thatfitfriend thanks for your reply. I have wide normal arch feet. I have been using the 360 and I love them for heavy lifts. My problem with them is the wod I feel my foot moves too much inside the shoe and my calves take a beating during box jumps, double unders….etc.
How narrow are these? What you rkn for flatter feet?
What do you wear now/how do they fit?
Also, I just posted a sizing guide that gives you a better look at their width, btw!
@@thatfitfriend hey mate, reebok pr 2 lifters are great for me. Reebok nanos x2 the midsole sideclips are killing me. I tried the innov8 260 v2s and tho no midsole support thingies, too narrow.
Ill check out your chart, thanks
Will the whites get dirty and if so will washing them ruin the shoe?
Midsoles aren’t too bad, the white colorway gets dirty pretty fast though
Can you review Flux
I've done the low-top and high-top models :)
Is this shoes good for people with flat feet
Nah
Is this the same as their EZ Trainer?
Yep!
@@thatfitfriend Thanks!
If the toe box wasn't so tight to the top of my toes then they'd be great. I tried them on and sent them back from it
I feel you. The toe box volume can be annoying for thicker feet/certain anatomies!
"Wide footers" should know this is a narrow shoe. I was super excited to get these, but sadly, they were just way too snug and had to return them. They might have stretched out a bit, but the company has a pretty strict return policy and didn't want to chance it. My advice for anyone with a wide foot would be to buy true to size and a half size to see what fits best. Very sad these didn't work for me!
Yeah, they def have a more snug fit to them when breaking them in! I appreciate you providing these insights 💪💪
Hey Paul - The width at the metatarsals is about the same as an Altra Escalante - which is wide… there is a laminated backer across the forefoot in that area that breaks in - you might have been feeling that…( it’s what gives the shoe its lateral structure) The volume vertically is a little more fitted than some shoes but offset by the flexibility of the upper. Everyone has a different shaped foot and needs to size accordingly, so someone with a high arch or very wide foot might need to size up but the shoe is definitely not narrow… 👍
@@marcmorisset6854 Hi, Marc. Thanks for the insight! It was definitely the metatarsal backer which I felt. I'll try to size them up and see if that works better for me... Rumor has it you are the CEO of Strike-Mvmnt, so I just wanted to say I hope my comments didn't come across as a keyboard warrior trying to trash your work. My intent was simply to pass along my experience for any others with wide feet. I have not heard a single bad thing about these shoes, so I had very high hopes for these shoes and really wanted them to work for me. My apologies if anything I said came across as disparaging, which again was not my intent.
@@paulclaveloux6771 zero offense taken whatsoever sorry that was your experience with the initial fit and thanks for giving them a try.
@@marcmorisset6854 @Paul claveloux - removing the insole actually works for me without hindering performance of the shoe. I do have a wide foot after all :p
Unfortunately Jake my experiences with Str/Ke are not so positive. Ordered a Haze shoe based on your feedback, didn’t get any confirmation, only a Credit Card charge. That was a month ago. I tried their support multiple times and they either don’t reply or say they are tracking down a shoe for me. Totally obtuse support. Seems they take your money and you get nothing.
You're not the first person to have issues with their customer support, sadly. Check out the comments on this video.
I don't even recommend people go through them anymore and instead go through The Wod Life when buying STR/KE for the first time. Customer service will be a con that I discuss in future review content for the Haze.
Looking for versatile shoes for gym, office, going out? Sure. Maybe these work. Are you at all unsure on sizing/color/fit and think you may need to return them? Then these are absolutely not for you as you will spend nearly an hour of your life and multiple emails trying to get a return processed to no avail, something to bear in mind if you're used to buying from brands who don't treat making returns extremely difficult as a profit center.
Damn, this is not the first time I’ve heard this struggle with STR/KE. Adding that to my cons when I update these reviews.
Appreciate you sharing, amigo!
Just got these, I don't like them one bit. They are just flat out uncomfortable and cheap feeling.
Interesting take! Def return them before you put a ton of wear into them so you can get a full refund
Terrible customer support. Probably the worst I have dealt with in over 10 years. Absolutely horrible to work with. They don’t care that the company took your money and didn’t send a shoe.
