My concern is just the price of the originals. I mean £50 for a Scotty Cameron grip is bonkers and hundreds for a putter cover. I've bought grips from TEMU and they seem fine. I play 10 or so times a year and it makes no sense to spend hundreds on grips when i don't even know if they're the right grips for me. I would never buy clubs or balls but peripherals yes because i personally think the main brands are taking the p with their prices. I mean it's not even close to regrip a set of clubs would cost you £150 or £30 through a company such as TEMU. However the issue here is buying second hand clubs and then them turning out to be fake i personally wouldn't buy much now from ebay etc i'd rather just stick with what i've got.
I actually ordered my daughter an Odyssey head cover off Temu. She lost her original head cover. I ordered fully expecting it to not be authentic since it was $5. Surprisingly it is of very good quality and you really can’t tell the difference between the real and the cheap. Win for me I guess?
Fake (knock-offs) products only exist due to OVERpricing of brands that want to build a perception of "prestigeous". The term "You get what you pay for" doesn't hold true for many of the OVERpriced authentic brands either. That's why many of us favor VALUE brands, ie Costco, Takoma, etc, (and previously owned club stores) as James uncovers. Thanks for the ongoing insights James.
I got some “golf pride” mcc grips for about $3 each and installed them myself. They look and feel great so I don’t even care if they are not authentic.
Excellent topic! I stopped buying grips from a major US online retailer because the many of the grips they sold at a low price were fake (they smelled terrible). I'd rather buy real brand name golf products rather than get ripped off buying junk.
Let’s face it, if a beginner buys these clubs they’re not likely to be disappointed- quite the opposite, they believe they’ve made a great bargain. Belief is greater than truth.
When I was looking for a new set of golf clubs back in 2009, I was shocked by how expensive new clubs cost! I couldn't afford putting out over $1000 USD for a set of irons. I found a set of irons I really liked in a "component manufacturer's" catalog, and since I worked in a retail golf pro shop in the 1990's, I knew how my clubs needed to be fit for me since I an 6'6". I already had some woods, but they gave me such a fantastic deal, I couldn't pass it up! When my clubs were finished, I was surprised, as they also gave me a very nice stand bag! I have enjoyed the heck out of them, and even though I am 66 years old now...I am carry an 11.2 index and still play from the normal ( around here the blue tees are for mid range handicapped players ).
I bought a RBZ driver off ebay(new) when they first came out and used it for 2-2.5 years until one day I hit a shot off the heel and it made a strange noise ,on checking a crack had appeared were the face and sole join also when I removed shaft it was cracked and broken inside...took it to a local dealer to ask for advice and he informed me it was a fake, when comparing with a genuine the difference was hardly noticable (to me)The thing about it was it was the best driver I'd had to that point (long and forgiving)So having had it for the length of time I had wasn't to displeased (was well used as was playing 4or 5 games a week....Regarding the grips I buy the cheaper ones and change when needed some times can get 3 for price of one geuine....IMO the golf trade has become a rip off...
As someone that changes grips every year (2 at most) I’ve tried fake mcc grips and there are differences. The ones I tried felt firmer overall and were skinnier but with layers of tape I actually quite liked the firmer feel.
About 12 or so years ago I accidentally bought a fake Scotty Cameron off eBay. I thought it seemed a bit off when it arrived. I had quite a few people try the putter without mentioning my suspicions. Nobody said they thought it was fake and always said it felt amazing off the face. I eventually took it into a golf store and compared it to the new Scotty's and realized right away it was fake.
Most of my current set were used from ebay because I can't afford the newer clubs. Thankfully they were genuine. I do think this fake stuff gets bought because of the high price of the name brands. I am glad you test the budget clubs, balls etc. because it gives the average person an opportunity to get quality stuff without paying a fortune.
James, you make some excellent points in this video. I see a big different in "knockoff" equipment versus "fake". For example, the Super Newling Stripe golf ball that Gary did a review on a few days ago was great. It is NOT a Taylormade Tour Response but a "knockoff" version of it. They are not trying to fake out the customer, but it does make the game of golf more economical. I strongly agree with you that those who try to fake out consumers are bad for the game. That being said, I would love to see a video of you using "fake" clubs and comparing them to the real ones. Keep up the good work, and be a good host and please let Gary win a match on your channel😂
Can we get 10k likes for James dropping an unbleeped F Bomb.....that was the realist thing I've saw in a long time. Good stuff James make sure to put your money in the swear jar!
I bought a pair of Nikes not knowing they were fake. I had no point of reference to compare them to. A friend pointed out that he believed they were fakes and pointed out the reasons! The quality looked amazing and the materials were spot on! I never would have known
@@jimmccoys5778 If the quality is good, I have no bother with snides (counterfeit), especially when some originals these days cost ridiculous amounts of money, but you can get the look for a fraction, sucks if full price was payed though. If the quality looked amazing though, I think it's less likely to be a fake item, in my experience anyway 👍
@@jimmccoys5778 Also, shops like TK Maxx sell the real deal, but they are seconds, they have certain flaws, barely noticeable, that don't come up to expected standards, your Nike's might be that, original, great quality, but something is not quite right 👍
I’ve bought grips from Temu in the past and think they are great !! The prices are too good to pass up ! But I’d be scared to death to buy anything Scotty Cameron online ….there are so many fakes out there
I bought name brand grips for my set a year ago. I had to replace some of the grips that were worn so I bought some of the fake grips from Temu to see the difference. First they smelled like they came out of a chemical bath. Comparing them to the real ones I have and couldn't tell much difference in looks and feel. Washed the fakes and the chemical went away. Will see if they will last at least a year.
Some Temu brands do perform and are much cheaper. That is why videos like this one are so helpful. Figuring out which knock-offs are real bargains and which ones will only make your game worse is a challenge. Most of us understand that what is sold on Temu is mostly fake or a knock-off. But with golf equipment continually increasing in price, it is no wonder that most of us are looking for ways to save a few bucks. If the cheaper Temu stuff works effectively for the average golfer, why not purchase it? It might be a way for name brands to consider their pricing and create much-needed competition for overpriced equipment.
Great comment guys…personally I’d be happy with “fake” grips if they felt ok. It’s a big no no for clubs though. Balls I have to go proper or premium lake for my 2p worth!
I have made MANY purchases from Ali express, and Wish. And I ONLY got 1 fake set of Titalast T200. All of the taylormade clubs I purchased ARE ALL AUTHENTIC... and I did find out most of all iron heads come from only a few foundries. So most are all made in the same place...
I must respectfully disagree with your advice regarding golf grips. In my experience, the quality of the grips is a notable factor, especially when considering counterfeit products. To my surprise, these 'fakes' have proven to be exceptionally good. By purchasing grips in bulk, one can obtain new grips that last multiple seasons for less than £25. I personally change mine annually. Prior to experimenting with these replicas, I would spend in excess of £125 each year for similar grips. As someone with rather discerning tastes in golf equipment, I assure you, I've noticed no downsides in using the counterfeit ones. Therefore, I would advocate for the purchase of these imitation grips. Considering the substantial profits of major brands, one should not feel overly concerned about their loss of business. I suggest starting with a small order to identify a reliable supplier, then purchasing as needed. However, it's important to maintain honesty in transactions. If you sell equipment fitted with these counterfeit grips, inform the buyer of their true nature. This might slightly reduce the resale value, but probably less than you might expect. New grips, regardless of their authenticity, are still new. Nonetheless, deceiving a buyer into thinking they are purchasing genuine products is not only unethical but could also have repercussions, as astute golfers can often detect the imperfections instantly.
I did buy a Mizuno MP20 fake set from Ali Express. The shafts where off completely, the heads had .370 hosels and I did reshaft them and played well a full season.
I have a scotty cameron putter and changed the original grip for one from temu just because of the feel they feel great. And ordered a spare one for when needed. Only spent £15 for both.😉
I have one kislux bag I got in 2019, it's the LV white catogram speedy. It's counter quality and it has a nice honey patina now, so the leather is real. I think whatever makes you happy go for it. I've seen LV with plastic leather and blood red glaze...
I would like to see you compare a premium ball to a lady’s golf ball in cold condition I believe the compressibility of the balls change enough to change the smash factor enough to make the lady’s ball a better choice in cold air
I got a bootleg of a Nintendo DS game off eBay. Had no idea at the time that was a thing. Good Real Deal off eBay was my irons. Someone backed out of a custom deal and a pro shop sold them at a heavy discount. Still $1099 for the set but probably closer to a $1700 set with custom shafts and grips and an added 3i
Just one the Scotty Cameron grip, I would Not be surprised if the grips come from the same factory and Scotty Cameron/Titleist is making a huge Profit, when selling them on. If 1 grip costs 10-13 for a consumer, and Titleist is buying 10000 from the same vendor, you can be sure they pay a fraction of the price, but still sell them for 50 a piece. I got a set of grips in Temu, and the quality of those were super. They all Had the same weight, they feel great and again, probably from the same factory, as the original
Bought a Scotty Futura X7m online for $325. Cut it down to 33" and regripped it. Putter is money. Worst deal was buying a shaft that was garbage. Seller had jammed a second shaft in it to make the needed length, and threw a grip on to cover it up.
I've often wondered if these "fakes" come from the same factory as the real thing. I wonder if they just make extras and sell them out the back door of the factory. Seems like it would cost a fortune to tool up to make these things.
They do - see my post above about my time in China. I also lived in Thailand for 12 years and many big brand names are made there. Samsonite pulled out of Thailand because the workers and management made bags on Sunday exclusively for themselves !!! It was considered normal by the Thais to do such things and you can't blame them as a good wage was less than $10 dollars a day. I still have a Samsonite "Sunday" bag and also "Swiss Army" Airline Pilots Briefcase. They are the real deal but were a fraction of the price.
I never have, but my brother bought a Taylormade M1 driver from a Chinese website that turned out to be fake. Not great distance from the beginning and fell apart after a couple of months.
I love a good kislux because it helps me decide if I want to buy the real thing or NOT." That part right there. That's IT. I feel like people stigmatize dupes but for me, I pause on large purchases that are trendy or when I feel the overconsumption mania setting in FOR ME. (It's something I struggle with LOL! I'm easily convinced to buy things I don't wear or use. They'll literally have the tags and I'll even forget I bought something and have 2 or 3 of them in my closet.) Love this video!
I've felt the last couple of years that the grip manufacturers are charging and arm and a leg simply because they can. I feel even more strongly this way about grips that have been around for a very long time and the rubber recipe/tooling/manufacturing has been around so long that its ridiculous that they are charging 8-10+ dollars a grip. I don't buy direct knock off grips but I have moved to supporting Iomic and Karma grips for their price/quality ratio. Even with heavy use on my clubs I can regrip my entire set for under 50 bux every season if I want to but I have been getting 2-3 seasons out of the Karma grips (4-6 rounds per month plus range time). Dont get me wrong, I LOVE Lampkin and Golf Pride grips but its just getting silly. The sport is already expensive.
I bought some Fake CP2 +4 Pro Grips in Midsize and also some fake MCC +4 Grips in Midsize also. The grips are fine and although not the same quality, they will do the job. I have noticed, however, that the +4 grips are not as thick in the lower half of the grip as the genuine ones. I think James is right, are people turning to the fake ones because the genuine ones are so expensive....in short, YES!! I think the MCC Plus 4 Align Grips are around £ 15 per grip which is just ridiculous for a bit of rubber. I'm happy with the fake ones or there are also the Champkey, Tour-Dri ones which are not fakes but are clones of big brands. I find those grips are great value for the money and just add a wee bit more tape to give the Plus 4 effect on them.
I’m playing Callaway Rogue X 5-PW I bought from the Callaway pre-owned shop. Had the Senior Graphite shafts cut to my length and regripped. They looked like new. I also picked up a pre-owned Odyssey O-works putter from the Odyssey website. Fusion FT-3 driver and Rogue 3H & 5H I picked up used off eBay at the Logic Joe’s Store. Very satisfied.
All of the above to the questions. I like to find good clubs that are sold as head only or shaft only and put them together. I like to find fake stuff and get good deals and mess around with them. And I got some fake stuff and loved it
I buy most of my clubs from Callaway pre-owned. If you buy “like new”. The majority of the times they are new. Just bought a Paradym driver for $322. It was still in the plastic wrapper
I've bought most of my gear over the decades on eBay and Facebook Market Place no issues. Till this summer. Switched my woods to Sim 2s. Looked for a 6 hybrid to match the others. Hard to find. Found one an hour away. At $120 . Got home tried it and every shot went like a 3 hybrid. Checked the loft against my 5 hybrid and it was more like a 3 hybrid. Checked the lettering grip and it seemed fine. Could a 3 hybrid slipped by in quality control at TM? So I contacted TM Canada and they paid for shipping to inspect it. Low and behold the shaft on my club wasn't a shaft they used on those hybrids and the you lettering on head was a different font. I got screwed! The seller ghosted me . I told TM to keep it get it out of circulation
James I have to agree, about the price of equipment these days, I'm using clubs over 10years old, but don't see the point of paying 2k for new clubs, so I can agree with getting cheap/copies.
Here's a thought... You would think that there would be major law suits against Temu from the main brand manufactures. Do you think that the manufacturer may be selling their products that didn't meet their standards on Temu for a little extra cash rather than just chucking them in the trash?
Years ago I bought a set of Ping Rapture irons for the “too good to be true” price of $300. They were selling for about $1,000 in those days. The box came from Hong Kong in less than 5 days. Well, I opened the box and they looked real until I looked closely and noticed that the graphite shafts misspelled the word stiff as sitiff. Then I looked at the club heads and they were decals instead of the plastic badges. I was mortified. I called EBay right away and explained that I received fakes. They immediately created a case and refunded my $300 but not the $30 for shipping. They also said I can keep the clubs. They were playable not great. I also got a call that week from the Ping counterfeit department asking for details. They said they were going to aggressively go after the manufacturer of the fakes. Later that year I did buy the real Ping Rapture irons on clearance. They play very well plenty forgiving with a tight dispersion. I think they were the highest moi that Ping ever made. I still have them.
I have bought clubs from eBay as well as DTC companies (Sub70 and New Level), and have recently ordered Temu to order some accessories like a little bag to clean your heads and balls and some stickers for the face to track contact at the range. The DTC clubs and the ones I've gotten from eBay were all top-notch, but I'm not expecting much from the Temu stuff. As far as grips go, if I can't tell the difference as a 15 handicapper, does it matter that it's fake?
I've fitted a lot of grips over the years (100's of grips) and decided to swap out my iron grips last week. Looking into genuine Golfpride MCC Align Midsize via a reputable retailer and they were around £13 to £16/grip, and I needed 10, that's £130 - £160 plus P&P, not cheap at all!!!. I managed to buy 10 for £38 delivered, via a famous online auction. The first couple didn't fit the AMT irons butt dia well at all. It was as if the inner diameter of the grip was smaller/tighter than it should be....but I got there in the end. They feel good and played well on the irons. However, swing weight was massively off on my driver shaft and when weighing two exact same shafts (both MMT 60x callaway tip, same length) there was 20g difference in the shaft total weight between a 'dubious' yet cheap grip, and an original. 20g is a fair few swing weight points and total club weight, which can be the 'make or break' for a club fitting well or mysteriously playing like a dog. Great video guys.....I remember playing Woolley when it first opened 30+ years ago.....nice track.
Budget grips on used name brand equipment. Unless you are logging 60 rounds a year you aren’t going to have a grip failure any time soon. Most of these Temu grips look to be seconds as they are extremely close to the original. I’ve went to the local name brand golf store and made comparisons the mcc4 grips are pretty much identical. Except for the 75% price difference.
I recently was shopping for a Taylormade sand wedge to match a set of M4 irons I just purchased. The M4 isn't made any more as far as I could tell, but I found a number of them - and almost purchased one - but I noticed some of the writing on the clubhead seemed to be misplaced. Anyway it scared me off thinking they must be fakes and ended up getting a used Stealth wedge to stay with the brand. It was surprising to me how good the fakes looked.
I am on a strict budget, so I would really like to see some head to head comparisons with the irons on Temu vs, brands like Caley and Takomo. And to be honest I have been considering the TC 201 irons by Calong from Temu.
I’m telling u mate Golf grips I got from temu were fantastic My local pro at the golf club put the temu grips on my clubs and said how good are the grips and where I got them from He couldn’t tell the difference from what I had to what he sells in his pro shop
Purchased a Cleveland Huntington Beach putter for $35/delivered in "bargain" condition. Arrived in outstanding condition, took it to the local Edwin Watts and they confirmed it was legit. Purchased a couple Ping hybrids, driver, & 4 wood and each arrived in better condition than advertised. Kind of like the $500 challenge 👍 Unfortunately, in the past several years, pricing has escalated. My option now is to visit the Edwin Watts every couple weeks to see what's been traded. Have picked up a Ping & Yes! putter, Calloway and Cleveland wedges for $20 apiece all in good to great condition.
I buy my grips from ebay ...mcc plus 4 ....on money back guarantee and usually can get 13 for between 70 and 90 dollars ....and the last ones I bought were 13 for 64.99 us and I was worried they might be fake but I had 2 new ones I know were not fake and when you put them side by side the ones I bought for 64.99 not only look better but even felt better after installing them ....but I wil say they did not have any weird smell ( usually dead give away) and after some research I found that they were real and the site I had purchased them from was actually and individual who worked at a golf shop ....and bought out a lot of grips that were 2019s and the shop restocked with 2023 ....the grip hasn't changed ....the shop had just sold out old stock due to the fact they had been on shelf for close to 5 years ....anyways have had them on for 6 months now and still look and feel new ....i do take care of my kit ....wash grips in light detergent (usually heavily diluted dish soap) ....and dry with towel about every couple rounds ...every round in warmer months living in the southern US....because of the sweat from humidity....I also recently bought a new pistol grip 2.0 super stroke that was 15 us ....and it was same deal 2020 model ....but as I said on ebay I always look for the money back guarantee....and if I ever do ...and sure will buy a fake I will return it....have bought several driver heads and clubs off ebay ....but usually only if it has a serial number ....best advice if it seems to good to he true ....probably is ....or at least do as much research on the seller as possible ...
I haven’t bought “fake”stuff from Temu, but I have bought alignment sticks for $3 and a cover for $6 and a golf towel for $3. Some of these deals are to good especially for a beginner.
I bought a an extra large putter grip from TEMO for $8. It’s awesome and has improved my putting remarkably. If it wears out in 6 months or a year, so what? I’ll buy another one for $8. I’ve had the grip on my putter for 2 months now with no sign of wear, cracking, discoloration, anything. Wouldn’t buy golf clubs but for grips I’m on board.
I couple years ago I purchased a phone from China, they phone they supplied was not the one described in their advertising. I paid with PayPal and they got me a refund when I complained. Don't credit card companies offer this service?
You some weeks back replaced grips of your iron set with temu grips( orange color). Could you do a vlog on how those temu grips are handling real time golf.
If the original manufacturers were more reasonable in their prices, these "fake" options wouldn't be as popular. In Australia, when the latest clubs were released from the likes of TaylorMade and Callaway for example, the drivers were retailing for around $1,100 AUD (670 Euro) mark each. New Titleist Pro V1 balls going for around $90 AUD (55 Euro) for a box of 12. With the next generations due at anytime, these are now on "special" for only $800-$850 AUD (485-520 Euro). With retail prices like these, anything golf related that has more reasonable pricing will be very popular and get snapped up quickly. At a time when the game of golf is experiencing unprecedented popularity, it certainly feels like the manufacturers are taking advantage of us.
Hi James I am thinking of buying the eleven hybrid but not sure if they are as good as you said plus you as I cannot try them first to make sure I can hit them can you help
I buy my tees and golf gloves from temu. I was genuinely impressed with the golf gloves. I have been on the same glove for 8 rounds so far and it is holding up just fine. The tees perform just like any other but literally a fraction of the price. Also have got divot tools, and club brushes from Temu. Oh and spineless golf shoes. And I mean GOOD LOOKING golf shoes. I bought 3 pair for like $20 bucks. Holding up just fine. As I'm typing this I'm remembering other gold related equipment I have bought off there. A shag bag, a chipping net, and a ball retriever. Everything has been awesome to be completely honest. Never pulled the trigger on buying balls from there though, or actual equipment that is used to "play". Overall happy with my purchases
Temu has a set of irons I was quite interested in buying. The mc 502. They look so classic and beautiful. I just wonder if they perform well and feel soft off the face or do they feel like a cheap cast iron.
i buy my grips, golf spikes from those sites. i play a lot of golf and my grips last about 2 seasons at 1/4 OF THE PRICE. im a 4 handicap and theyre more than fine. i wouldnt buy clubs
I buy loads of golf clubs off of eBay. I’ve never bought a “new set” or new club. The major manufacturers are ridiculous with their pricing, so I typically buy clubs that a 2or 3 seasons old. I would not buy a new club off of eBay either. If there is not some wear on the item, I dont trust it.
They were reported as a scam last year. The only deal I got was the humming bird 72 degree wedge. I don't play it often but had for a year. The lesson is if it's too good to be true it most likely a scam.
I buy “knock off” golf grips. I refuse to pay $12/grip when I can get a comparable grip for $5 per just because it doesn’t say golf pride on the item. Also remember when tour edge was first making clubs? One of their old forged irons were considered fake Mizunos but they were actually pretty good and now they’re a pretty reputable brand.
Tour edge irons are still butter tho. 😂 I also just re gripped all my clubs champkey brand off Amazon and I can’t tell no difference from golf pride half price.
I got a set of 13 MCC +4 align grips off ebay 18 months ago for £45. They were obviously knock offs, but at that price to replace 15 year old grips I didn't care. Theyre fine, still on the clubs and no drama. Eyes wide open Caveat Emptor and all that
I would never buy fake. But I have no problem with them being reviewed, bought or used. My problem is the golf companies ripping us off for their product.
I've bought some cheap chinese products, not fakes per se, but cheap knock offs and found them to be worth what I paid for them. They were Lego copies but not branded as Lego. They were identical in every way with perhaps a small difference in quality though I'm not even sure of that. They were things I simply would not buy at Lego's prices. I think that's what many people who buy these products are looking for.
I bought 'replica' golf pride grips on ebay. sold to me as real however I should have known by the price really. look very similar to the grey/black ones in this video. been on my irons for just over a year and to be perfectly honest, they feel fine. hardly worn.
Bought fake golf pride compound grips off of eBay knowing they were fake, cost £30 for 13. Put them all on my clubs and can't complain they're pretty good. Way cheaper than actual golf pride grips and they're not much worse, but then again im a casual golfer maybe around 18 handicap. Best part about it is I messaged the seller telling them they're rubbish and I got a 75% refund and got to keep the grip as they didn't want a bad review !
Hi, Tyler, founder of Jaxon Golf store here, with some inside info: 1. Scotty Cameron Grips are by far the largest mark-up in the entire golf industry: they're essentially Golf Pride or Winn grips with "Scotty Cameron" written on it; 2. I see so many counterfeits of the New Decade Multi-compound grip, and it's easy to spot them in the diameter of the butt end (usually narrower), differing patterns of texture and cords and the paint fill and etched letters all look very cheap and the solvent during installation causes the paint fill to fall out in these cheapos; 3. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop buying pulled shafts off of eBay and asking me to install them...my guys, just pay the amount the shafts are worth and stop cheaping-out on something like this that is more often than not riddled with questions and inconsistencies.
The word worth is loaded. We all know the big golf companies make a LOT of money. I know they spend a lot of money as well but as you stated the Cameron grips for example are somewhat of a knockoff of the winn and some other grip that costs $20 but the Cameron's are $50+. So, is it "worth" it just bc it says a name on it? Again, we need places and people like you so it stands to reason as golfers we try to buy from the local brick and mortar shops but there is a point where the worth/value doesn't compute.
I had a set of ebay multi compound plus 4s come thru. Biggest issue was they weren't plus anything. They were anywhere from 47 to 55 grams and smelled like strait acetone. The cords were a little slick so I scuffed them up and they lasted better than the real ones. The rubber isn't as soft as gp but honestly for 13 Grips and 50 bones you could definitely do worse, just know what you're buying.
I bought fake grips from Temu. They were better than expected. I did grip my driver with a real Golf Pride grip. Holding them next to each other you could barely tell. The Golf Pride logo was a slight bit larger / thicker on the fake and there were no markings under the line at the bottom of the grip. The cord seems to be slightly more aggressive but I actually like that. Also I don’t feel bad not buying real Golf Pride grips. $12 each ? Shame on them.
If the price of grips is too good to be true, they are fake. Grips are not a high margin item. The fakes are often *very* good, and you need to compare fonts side by side. I found the MCC fakes from Ebay deteriorated very quickly, feeling slick and hard in a short amount of time from the real deal. Lesson learned :)
I've bought 3 clubs recently (one at a time) they were Taylormade Sim fairway woods. I love all 3 of them. The 3 wood out performs my new Taylormade Stealth that I was fited for. I bought them from Amazon the dest online site bar none.
Golf equipment is too expensive but quality matters. My Golf Spy test balls thoroughly and has found that no manufacturer is perfect. A ball with an off center core will not fly straight no matter how well struck. So what level of quality control does an unknown manufacturer like the one Gaz has here use? One of their good balls might perform decently but how many are bad? The name manufacturers strive to protect their reputation but does an unknown do the same?
there is no excuse for supporting/buyer forgers. If one wants to buy inexpensive equipment, balls or accessories, there are options (pre-owned, Costco, Decathlon, direct to consumer brands). Doing business with companies that are misrepresenting what they are selling is wrong from several standpoints: they are lying to you, the product (as you point out) is worthless for resale, and they are cheating the companies that built the real product out of the equity they built by innovation, quality control, and risking their capital to survive in a difficult industry. It is difficult to tell on line (grip for example, when you can’t feel the texture, inspect the printing, feel the weight or smell- the real way to know fakes), but if the price is too good to be true, assume it’s fake. And fake cheats the buyer, the company being counterfeited, and other buyers who have a chance to get taken advantage because others kept the frauds in business. I do hope that you, JR, comes out stronger against counterfeiters. There is no two sides, IMO.
One of my coworkers purchased a FAKE Autoflex shaft for $60.00 and is hitting the best drive he has ever hit. He and our local pro tested it next to real one and they could tell the difference.
Definitely was not expecting the "fuck off" that wasn't bleeped out 😂😂 Thanks Robbo, needed a good laugh this morning!
😅😅 I was thinking the exact same thing ...loved it😂
too funny...almost spit my beverage out....lol....priceless
Fake Chinese Mizunos play as well as the authentics...at least i couldnt tell.
@@andynaz5631because you’re not a ball striker
prestige* and Takomo* you’re welcome
@@l26c64 even the pros at PGA store couldn't tell. They were flabberghasted.
@@l26c64 iguess i'm a good ball striker, best round of 73 on a par 72 6700yd course. 8 handicap. Short game is not that good.
This is one of the most interesting and timely videos you've done in a long time. Nice job, Rob and Gus.
I bought golf grips
Super stroke putter grips
Putter cover
Golf tees
Definitely the quality was good
I can’t complain what I got for that cheap
I bought a pair of Nikes not knowing they were fake. I had no point of reference to compare them to. A friend pointed out that he believed they were fakes and pointed out the reasons! The quality looked amazing and the materials were spot on! I never would have known
Ever consider your friend was wrong?
@@Charlie_Crown possibly. I saw a few areas that may have been iffy, but I had nothing to compare them to. I wear them and it doesn’t bother me.
But I’d be scared to death to buy anything Scotty Cameron online ….there are so many fakes out there
The variety of textures in the kislux pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.
Covered in covid bath. Lol
I don't see any harm in buying fake putter grips.
How much grip does a putter really need?
I bought two... prepped the clubs....they don't fit. Absolute scam.
I ordered a fake Scotty Cameron Del Mar and i couldn't be any happier with it
I have made MANY purchases from Ali express, and Wish.
I’ve never bought fake brand name irons but have bought fake Oakley sunglasses. Would like to see comparisons to real vs fake clubs!
I'd be the opposite. I'd rather play with fake clubs than fake sunglasses that are likely not protecting your eyes, if not damaging them
I did buy a Mizuno MP20 fake set from Ali Express.
Interesting… I bet you’re right. Try the Percept Laddie golf ball. Great distance
I got a bootleg of a Nintendo DS game off eBay. Had no idea at the time that was a thing. Good Real Deal off eBay was my irons. Someone backed out of a custom deal and a pro shop sold them at a heavy discount. Still $1099 for the set but probably closer to a $1700 set with custom shafts and grips and an added 3i
I was actually just thinking yesterday, ive seen people test the knock off drivers, but never the irons or wedges. Would definitely like to see that
once bought a fake scotty cameron of wish, 5 years on, still using it !!!!
Great video lads. Thanks for sharing the info. I have also heard of bad stories about Temu.
I would love to see the fake club challenge!
@JamesRobinson
I think you missed the bleep button at around 6:32 ??
James I have to agree, about the price of equipment these days, I'm using clubs over 10years old, but don't see the point of paying 2k for new clubs, so I can agree with getting cheap/copies.
Here's a thought... You would think that there would be major law suits against Temu from the main brand manufactures. Do you think that the manufacturer may be selling their products that didn't meet their standards on Temu for a little extra cash rather than just chucking them in the trash?
It's based in China, they plagiarise every brand and no one can touch them, because China...
The reason why that hasn't happed is because Temu's parrent company is headquartered in China, which there are no IP protection laws
I absolutely hate fraudulent products and the people who sell them.
Loved listening to you bit discussing fake equipment, the only thing I would consider purchasing is a head cover
I am on a strict budget, so I would really like to see some head to head comparisons with the irons on Temu vs, brands like Caley and Takomo. And to be honest I have been considering the TC 201 irons by Calong from Temu.
I’m telling u mate
Golf grips I got from temu were fantastic
My local pro at the golf club put the temu grips on my clubs and said how good are the grips and where I got them from
He couldn’t tell the difference from what I had to what he sells in his pro shop
Kind of like the $500 challenge 👍
Unfortunately, in the past several years, pricing has escalated.
I think we have all been conned with fake stuff and been annoyed by it but as with buying anything if the price is too good to be true then it's fake.
My grandmother always told us “ if it sounds too good to be true. It is!!” Aka buyers beware!

Hi James, the neon yellow Kirkland V3 ball is on the UK site if you were on the lookout
Eyes wide open Caveat Emptor and all that
Bought 3 Lazrus wedges (not fake) 50, 54, 58 this past season and love them have you ever tried them (waiting in the snow in 🇨🇦 for spring)
The amount of headcovers i lose on course makes sense getting a fake one to use rather then lose the expensive one
Haha I wasn’t expecting a “fuck off” made me laugh out load!!
Oh dear did I forget to bleep it?! Sorry guys! Lol
The TEMU super stroke putter grips are actually good! The only way you can tell the difference is having a real one in your hand next to it.
Ordered knock off "golf pride" grips. Changed my own grips for 40 bucks. I'm no pro but I can't tell the difference.
Dont blame it on the equiptment🤣
Love your videos, and I would like to see the one where you buy the fake clubs and see what kind of score you can shoot against the real ones
One of
their good balls might perform decently but how many are bad? The name manufacturers strive to protect their reputation but does an unknown do the same?
I bought a SC Newport 2, and the very next day replaced the headcover with another brand. The SC headcovers are like magnets to thieves! 😎
Good point. I tend to use feneric or mismatched covers. Is an invitation to steal.
Maybe late to the channel, love the content, but what is Gaz's channel called? Would have been useful to put it in the description 😉🤣 Thanks
I buy used clubs but from Callaway preowned like new almost half price never got a bad one. Really like to see how the fakes perform.
I would love to see a demo round with knockoff clubs.
But I don't want to encourage you to subsidize the counterfeiting.
there is no excuse for supporting/buyer forgers.
