  • So I wanted to share my experience with the gas mileage between the 1.5 and 2.0. I’ve had both and drive the exact same places. The 2.0 for me gets about 7 mpg less. So it’s a substantial decrease in mpg. I would suggest getting the 1.5 if you’re doing a lot of stop and go driving or a lot of commuting. Hoping this video can help some of you guys out if you’re debating on which model to get.

    If you want a more accurate reading of your gas mileage, you can reset the trip A on the dash. I reset mine every morning after warming up the car, then read the dash at the end of the day. Also stay on top of the maintenance, because these turbo Accords are notorious for over heating and causing head gasket failures. Theres dozens of videos on UA-cam regarding this issue. Especially the 1.5 Liter engines, but it happens to the 2.0 too

    Bought a 21 Touring new last month and I agree completely with you on the mileage being kind of poor for a 2.0. Like you i’m not a commuter so I’m not impacted by it. Owning a GT Mustang 5.0 i’m going to say that the car doesn’t do too much better than that economy wise really.
    Was going to buy another new GT Premium and I had one that I was waiting on to get received by the dealers in 8 days when I shopped and I decided to test a 2.0T Accord. Well seeing that I bought the Accord I will say that I was totally impressed by the power and handling of the car and it’s creature comforts.
    It’s a very fun car to drive and I am very happy I decided to purchase it versus the Mustang. The Accord definitely satisfied my need for a car with Comfort, style, tech and power overall.

    I have a 21 ACCORD 1.5T EXL. I have had it since new and now at 32K miles. I commute a LOT on the hwy but half the time its bumper to bumper, slow, stop N go traffic going to work. I normally drive with the trans in "D" and the ECO mode on driving gently. I average 35.5 mpg and have gotten as much as 40.3 mpg on a long hwy trip.
    Now sometimes I put the trans in "S" without the ECO on and I will tell you, it is spirited enough to do whatever you need to do! Its quite surprising and has good throttle response for the displacement. Not a race car and I'm certain the 2.0T is even more so but its nice! I've seen all the videos of head to head races with the competitive companies comparable cars. The 2.0T always wins but sometimes only by a nose.

I would not want to be without the power of the 2.0T. Love this engine. And that fuel economy is great by me. Thankfully, I don't have to do a lot of in town driving. I have a 2017 Honda Accord EXL V6 and average around 25-26 mpg. My 2013 2.4 liter Accord Sport 4 cylinder 6 speed manual averaged around 28. Same mixture for both which was around 65% city and 35% highway. The V6 however will get better gas mileage on the highway than my 4 cylinder. That cylinder deactivation ain't no joke and it's the 3rd Gen one for those that are going to warn me about reliability. The V6 is at 98000 miles and the 4 cylinder was total in a wreck and had 150000 and never any issues with it! No issues with the V6 thus far.

    I drive mainly highway miles. I bought a 2018 2.0 a few months ago and I reset trip A to keep track of my mpg over the life time of the car. I usually go 75-80 mph and over the last 3,000ish miles I’ve averaged 27.8 mpg so far and it’s continued to slowly climb up. The 10 speed transmission has a some to do with MPG of the 2.0t Accord on the highway. Honda's K20C is an amazing engine that is designed to give a nice flat torque curve though out the middle of the RPM's. I am hearing most Accord 2.0t owners running 80 MPH and only turning around 2500 RPM's which means better MPG then the older v6 accords. I was lucky to get 28 MPG on the highway with my 7th gen v6 (5 speed transmission).

It holds around 3 gallons less than my 9th gen accord. Would be nice to go a little further w/o filling up. Still worth it though. It is fun to drive and uses a real 10 speed automatic. Also, I believe that the transmission is the main reason for the economy loss in the 2.0
    The main reason other than the bigger motor was avoiding the CVT Transmission. They are junk. Expensive to repair when the warranty ends and it’s still an evolving technology. I’ll probably never buy a CVT model unless i’m absolutely forced to if Honda stops producing standard automatic transmissions in their cars.

And with gas prices as high as they are here in the SF Bay area (I live in Fairfield. Gas is currently $4.45 average here), every gallon of gas matters. I recently drove from the SF Bay area to Seattle with this Accord. Managed to get about 38.9 on that road trip. I don't mind the CVT. It shifts seamlessy. I'm getting around the same MPG as you too in my 20 Touring. I do use sport mode occasionally but I was actually expecting better MPG though. I had a 1.5 Sport before and yes the gas is better but it was lacking features and not so much power for me.
    I know Honda got rid of the 1.5T Touring in 2019 but I think that would've been the best of both worlds, good gas with the most features possible. I would've still gotten my 2.0T of course haha. Once you go 2.0T you can't go back.
    I do miss the sound of a V6 though but that's why we have exhaust kits along with a cold air intake. Both of these mods are on my wishlist of course. Next mod is getting some eibach sports springs! I want to keep my active dampers so just a 1" drop should be nice enough for me. Then I wanna get some 20" rims. I have struggled with either getting the 1.5t or the 2.0t. I have had a 7th gen v6 and a 9th gen 4 banger CVT. I cannot say I totally miss the v6 on daily driving. I can tell it the 2.4l CVT doesn't have the get up and go of the v6. But once you are moving the CVT is just as speedy on the highway as the v6. I am really torn on the 10th gen which one I will get. I averaged 9L/100km (canadian eh) calculated manually using the trip meter pretty consistently. My Accord is 400-500lbs heavier, makes just shy (~10) of twice the torque, and the guage shows 8.8L/100 at the moment still making the same trips. Essentially a match if not ever so slightly worse despite carrying more weight and having double the torque. That is pretty impressive to me. On the highway I believe its even better than my old car, but I never did the numbers regularly for that.
      Have the 1.5T in a non-Si Civic CVT and it of course is crazy better in the city, but doesn't see a massive benefit on the highway like the 2.0T does. It also sounds like crap IMO and the CVT "gears down" for the slightest headwind. Just my 2 cents.

      I would personally recommend Premium 93 Octane if you can find it.. I used to put 87 and 93 definitely makes a difference in terms of smoothness and performance. No substantial gains in terms of acceleration times, but definitely a difference

    That’s weird I always see people saying 20 mpg with their 2.0 but I’ve had my car for a year and I daily drive about 15-20 miles per day and my average is 27 mpg. With seeing these numbers I think people are getting on the throttle a lot more than they need. This is my second 2.0 that averaged 27. You must live in a congested area stop and go traffic.

    • @HondaJon
      @HondaJon  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah I don’t drive much and it’s all stop and go. On the freeway it does get mid 20’s. So it definitely depends on where you live.

    I love my 2.0! I rarely use Sport Mode, but with my upgrades and pro-tune (runs rich) I definitely see a noticeable decrease in fuel economy by virtue of more fuel demand. But, WHO CARES, lol! A consistent low 12 sec Accord w/ more than 470 hp?!? Who knew 🤷🏾‍♂️😁
    Big plus - I can truly gap V8’s!

    Why can't Honda build 1.5l based on 2 liter engine for the sake of dependability?

  • @maxdiputs2863
    @maxdiputs2863 2 роки тому +1

    I had a 1.5 LX (which has lighter wheels and gets 1 mpg better than the sport) and I averaged 36 or 37 in town. You must drive in a really bad area with really bad roads or weather to get 26. My 06 Ridgeline gets 19/20 mpg. Have you tried a different gas station? I think you are getting bad gas. My 9th gen V6 Accord gets 27-29 mpg on average in town and its a manual without VCM. Again, must be bad gas in your area.
