The female singers are sisters Megan (L) and Rebecca (R) Lovell, known together as Larkin Poe, so named after their four-greats grandfather, Larkin Poe, who was Edgar Allan Poe's cousin.
Everybody will help you, Some people are very kind But if I can save you any time Come on, give it to me, I'll keep it with mine. This is like two choruses, one after the other. Adds tremendous impact to the passion of this masterpiece.
The definitive cover, definitive performance, historical. On this day, these artists took everything from this great song that it was capable of giving.
This is a fantastic and passionate performance of a Bob Dylan classic. The flow of the song is perfect. Bob's tremendous songwriting is a staple for the artists rendition, which places this masterpiece right up there with the beautiful "Who Knows Where The Time Goes?" by the beloved Sandy Denny. I can't get enough of music and performance like this, which is so fine.
Fairtport Convention + Larkin Poe = Fantastic perfomance = Real music = Musique sublime Això és una bona col·laboració: la bona música segueix en bones mans.
Ironic. I was a teen in the suburban town of Fairport. A record collector gave me two records: What We Did On Our Holidays and Liege & Lief, just said he thought I ought to have them. I’ll Keep it with mine was the 1st song that grabbed me. I fell for a mythical singer named Sandy and new musical horizons. I think at the time Fragile was my favorite record. I don’t hear this Dylan song to often. I will take this for what it is, especially with Richard on guitar. Sandy had been gone 38 years at this point.
The young man’s singing is Sharp (above pitch) and also very Strident/Forced. He needs vocal lessons. Otherwise it’s a very good performance of a GREAT song. It’s actually one of the first Fairport songs (well, it’s a Bob song) that I took notice of, that is other than Who knows where the Time Goes, Farewell, Farewell and Late November as well as a few others.
@@Wotsitorlabart So it's okay if it's a crappy interpretation? Sandy Denny was as good live as in the studio. By the way, learn to punctuate: the comma goes before "for" not after.
@@johnvoyce Well that told me! Once again, it's a live festival performance with probably not a huge amount of prior practice. It is what it is. Trying to compare it with a studio performance is unfair. And if Sandy Denny had been singing would the performance have been radically different?
This is okay, and it's always lovely to hear Richard Thompson, but it drags like a funeral dirge, quite frankly. I suggest you try to catch Steve Earle's cover on MORE MAGNETIZED MOTHERFUCKERS. As close to perfect on this song as I've heard.
Who are these people? And why is the lead singer gyrating like a pole dancer and holding an old-timey looking instrument without apparently knowing how to play it? I guess I live in the past--this just feels like attention-seeking play acting.

That were ~7 minutes worth living! Beautiful!
The definitive cover, definitive performance, historical. On this day, these artists took everything from this great song that it was capable of giving.
Thank you always Sandy Denny.

Thank you for this. A wonderful reminder of a beautiful weekend. My first time back at Cropredy for 15 years, and it has lost none of its magic.
Thanks for posting - I'm a Fairport fan, but I don't live in the past, and I love this version!
Greatest song ever.
I was so into this song, my favorite Fairport and Sandy Denny vocal. My second fav would be the demos of “By the Time it gets Dark”. Nice job by all.
Percy's Song. Another Dylan classic.
This is brilliant !
One of my favourite songs from Fairport's set. Such a good song played with a great line up!

Great sound, such a cool version.
a great moment at this years Cropredy.
god, I love his sound. smooth like Curtis Mayfield
Nicely done, friends.
it's good to hear this performed live, though I prefer the original version with sandy denny.
Jeez talk about an all-star cast
yes.
We've promised ourselves we shall be going to Cropredy as a family when this shitshow is over
Aaaahhhh, but will ya!!😋
Who are the two young ladies doing the singing? I can't faintly hear the memory of Sandy Denny and Judy Dyble behind them.
Rebecca and Megan Lovell, aka Larkin Poe.
Cool version.
From Fairport Convention album #1.
Nope. From What We Did On Our Holidays. The second album.
No, it's from the second album - What We Did On Our Holidays.
Is that Tyger on bass ?
I think that's Peggy
Yes, it looks like Ashley Hutchings to me.
Ashley Hutchings on bass
Oh yes! And his lad is there too
I prefer the Corrs Andrea.
Who's the young man to the left of the lap steel playing lady, with the acoustic guitar with the teardrop-shaped bridge?
Blair Dunlop

You're judging him on one seven-minute video? Maybe he had a bad day?
i cant imagine anyone singing this song except nico
This is such a disappointment when compared with Sandy Denny's version.
It's a live version at a festival for, God's sake!

Same backing band. Same 'crappy' arrangement. No.
