I’ve haven’t had much success with double or single legs so I was really glad to find your video. I was able to pull this off on one of my training partners and he congratulated me on a sweep. Thanks!
hey man I just wanted to say I started training around late December early January I saturday I got my first stripe. with hard work dedication and tips from your videos I want to personally thank you. I dont know if you will see this but I learned alot just from watchung your videos. I want to continue to improve and earn my second stripe for my white belt. thank you for always keeping it simple and purely teaching us white belts to defend ourselves. thank you very much brother 💪🏾🤜🏾
First of all, congratulations on your first stripe! I always say that’s the hardest one to get, because you had to take that step to get started. I really appreciate you watching my videos letting me know they are a helpful resource. This means a ton to me. Thanks and congrats again. Best of luck on your training, my friend!
@@KnightJiuJitsu thank you man and I will continue to work hard. jiu jitsu is something that I discovered through depression and it really helped me get out of my head. please keep making videos to help us learn an improve.
i saw my bjj professor use this to win a high level match, he hit the collar drag right away and took the guys back and got the rear naked, i was surprised at how simple and effective this technique can be
@@KnightJiuJitsu I’ll have to plan a visit some day. Looking forward to meet you some day Eli, keep up the solid content. Would love to see a video on defense to common leglocks. Not sure if you already have anything like that.
Thank you very much Mr.Eli you are doing great job, we are many people watching you as same as in cinema then we move to do your exercise with few means ... we are very thankful to you you deserve all the best coach. Love from Algeria 🇩🇿❤
I do this off the grip break, where the opponent grabs my collar and I break it. I use my cross arm to hold the sleeve, knuckles against their wrist, and the other hand grabs the armpit fabric instead of a collar. It's an arm drag position. As I circle to their back with these grips established, i wait until they square up to do this exact footsweep as i fall.
I’m not sure if I have a particular video dedicated to that particular side control variation, but my video on north south setups and submissions may mention some of that. ua-cam.com/video/shxdxcppqao/v-deo.html
I tried it a lot. About half the time I messed up and ended up kind of in a bad situation. The other half I got either their back or really good side control. Takes time to know what to know when I mess it up. But I do like it. AST two months I’m working on takedowns. I’m tired of the old grab collar and use one foot pull them down into guard that all white belt use.
Why you should only fight naked... no collar to grab onto... stripping also stops the attacker from even attempting to attack... Might even make him run away in fear.
I kept seeing this on Andrew Wiltse's (from Daisy Fresh) channel. Awesome stuff. Do you have a no-gi version for this too? I'm guessing you'd arm drag? Trying to find a good video on it
Hi from Argentina, i loved your video. Im not a guarder so, i always need thecniques that make me do not call to guard and takedown my oponent. Love this so much, thxs. I new subscriber.
My favourite grip is double sleeve grip as its quite easy to catch early with a distance! Could you make a video with a few good takedowns other than sode tsurikomi or sode tai otoshi? Because sode grip takedowns I find very rare on youtube channels. Thank you in advance!🙂❤
Sode grip throws are awesome and they are pretty rare. I would definitely suggest the Collier Brothers Nik and Si with Collier Judo on UA-cam. Those guys are amazing. I’ll see what I can make too. Thanks for the question and for watching.
Slightly similiar concept question; when you do an arm drag in the gi is there any benefit from gripping the material on the tricep vs just hooking the tricep when arm dragging?
On an arm drag, I feel the tricep is better than trying to grab the material. There is plenty of friction to assist and not necessary to grab the cloth.
It’s a hard one to call in Judo terms. It could almost be a sacrifice sasae too. It’s a weird hybrid, but I would love to hear good judo term suggestions.
Exactly I am confused too whether its a eri grip reverse yoko otoshi or sacrificed sasae because sometimes the leg is blocked and sometimes not. But the technique is very interesting! Eager to apply in my dojo once it reopens again! But from judo perspective No Ippon!!😂😂
It’s a really tough one to counter if they get that solid grip. Prevention is key. But if you’re getting dragged, just try to roll with it and scramble.
Go to 1:00 and put it on .25x or .5x speed. He seems to break the fall by stomping his left foot, also with his right buttocks, and right arm (edit - Knight recommended forearm)... using his training partner to also take some of the momentum.
It should be somewhere between a fall and a slide tackle/trip. Definitely want to land on the forearm/elbow and not land on your shoulder. You should be facing them at the end.
Do you ever take opponent to the other side? I get the same grips but go the other way, sort of a cross between your collar drag and Tim Sprigg’s train wreck. I’m curious about taking them your way now, never seen that before.
You can still hit it if they are gripping, as long as they aren’t stiff arming you. But if they stiff arm to shut it down, they give you other options. Notice in the competition video I provided of me hitting this takedown, his left hand was gripping me but it didn’t make a difference.
Action Man its just a reverse yoko otoshi, very interestingly and uniquely applied modified judo technique. Of course in order to make a grip you have to grip fight first to take your dominant grip. Confusion arises when a non judoka comes to learn bjj. You should have some basic judo skills before you join bjj. Because bjj is quite advanced.
@@sabyasachikulavi8946 I find wrestling take downs more effective in BJJ. Judo has its good points in it to. I don't think you need any back round to train in BJJ. Yet again any grappling back round is good to know when training BJJ. Depends on the instructor I guess. This instructor has a lot of good points and since my academy is closed due to a pandemic. I watch a lot of this guy's videos, he has a lot of good basic stuff and some really crafty techniques. I should actually support this guy in some way.
Should one of your students accidentally hurt another during training, what would be your reaction? I´m thinking about what the coach in this video says at 12:41 ua-cam.com/video/QyySXiT0HU4/v-deo.html
If it’s truly an accident, it needs to be addressed, but accidents can happen for several reasons. If someone is wildly out of control, and that’s the nature of the accident, then I would address it more severely than if it’s just out of ignorance or clumsiness. But the first priority is attending to the injured student.

When you pull down from standing are you trying to land on your elbow? Or are you trying to keep you arm extended

Cool so that allows the weight to stay over the collar and keep his posture broken right? Thanks a ton!

Definitely. Sprigg’s train wreck and morote seionagi are great complements to the collar drag and vice versa.
Can you do this without the sleeve grip?
Yes, it’s just easier for them to post or counter or even break the collar grip if you don’t control the sleeve. But it’s definitely doable.
