To senior drill instructor Staff Sergeant Ronald Dorval, may God bless you, your family, and the United States Marine Corps. Semper fidelis, always faithful! Hoorah!
I swear, Everytime I see a video like this one about basic training all memories of my basic training come back to me. And I have a feeling of nostalgia and a little bit scare because at the time all recruits are scared and shocked because we are taken from our comfort place. Weeks before boot camp most of us were at home and being civilians and all the sudden we are in a new environment with these drill instructors screaming at you at the top of their lungs. but I learned later on that they have the very hard job to turn regular everyday civilians into well discipline military fighting men and women. I will always cherish those times even though they were scary and hard times, they were also fun and unforgettable. The thing you see and do in boot camp, you don't see them anywhere else, especially in the civilian world!! Lol! Semper Fi!!!
So is this an "each battalion does it a little bit different" kind of thing? I ask because I was in 3rd battalion and after the senior drill instructor gave his speech he went back into the duty hut, slammed the door and that's when the green belts took over and all hell broke loose. They didn't do any of this structured stuff where they count, walk back and post, etc. I have seen videos where other drill instructors/platoons went through this exact same process but I am positive we didn't. I went through in 98.
Same here, I went in 2002 and things did change. If you notice the DI is not near the recruits. Alot of hazing and sand in the clits have happen since then and the Corps has had to adjust with times I guess. But it could be because the officers and cameras are there that they are doing it correctly.
I remember this guy. He was a boot DI and tried screaming at my platoon on some hike and my SDI came out of nowhere and blew his ass up. Lol good times Semper Fi
At MCRDSD from 26JAN68 to 17APR68 we weren't subjected to any uncontrolled screaming-like-a-lunatic in our faces, but we graduated as trained-to-kill Marines nonetheless......oh..to do it all over again!
Or you're too soft to complete Marine Corps Recruit Training, we had a former Chairforce veteran in our platoon named Chaparro. He went on to become an amazing Drill Instructor
All i see is military comedians. If humans had to be this tough, we could easily replace them by robots. Aaaand, guess what ? What we see here is just a robot congress, with robots looking at robots. There is nowhere human interactions or human behaviour in this show : this is pure theatre.
You can tell this SDI can call some mean Cadences
I graduated from MCRD San Diego October 14, 1976 and these Drill Instructors still motivate me. Semper Fi
The guy on the left did at ease when he was supposed to be at attention 🤣🤣🤣
It wasn't "AT EASE" it was PARADE REST and yes it was funny. That is up until we can establish whether or not he's a kill hat. SFMF
This was my platoon. Seeing this brings back memories.
Wished I could see mine
I love how the Camera stays focused on the chests of the DI's and CO's when they file down the middle after introductions.
Training Day 1. Happened to me on 11 July, 1974 with Platoon 262, MCRD PI. Seems like yesterday. Semper Fi.
I was 3073 July 1985 Paris Island 17 years old. Senior was SSGT Lauderman, SGT Lane, SGT Brantley. Best time of my life. Semper Fi

i like the way he moves while he's doing his speech it looks like hes doing a little bounce dance
This was about a month before I shipped out to recruit training! Brought back a lot of good memories!
Always wondered what they did after the DI's tell them to stand up after the speech. Most of the videos end at that point
