MCRD is a beautiful place, other than the time you're there as a recruit. After that it is sacred. I always love going for graduations and morning colors.
I was there in the military and honestly I hated it. I went in straight out of high school. Just remember majority get out after 4 years. The military is not for everyone.
Yes, MCRD is a beautiful base. After graduation, myself and several other Marines, were stationed at MCAS El Toro. We put on our summer service Charlies one day and took a trip to MCRD just to visit the base as Marines, not recruits. Semper Fi, Marines.
Yes it is I love living in San Diego! It was my first time being in his promotion even though I've been with him since he was a LCpl✨ It was such a great experience!
I don’t know how I found this video but congratulations SSgt! I watched you march out and I said to myself I know that March I think that’s Sgt Flanagan. Semper fi SSgt!

Is there any kind of 'initiation' into being a Staff Sergeant? In the Coast Guard we get our 'crow tacked' when we make 3rd class, just as Marine Corporals get 'blood-striped'. I know Chief Petty Officers have their own club with initiation. I was only in for one hitch, and never heard anything about 2nd or 1st class promotion. After A school a couple of petty officers I ran into at the airport 'did an additional crow tack on me. I thought it was actually pretty funny.
@@stevefowler2112 Tell that to the First Sgt. I saw promoted at MCT. They pounded those so hard into his collar bones. Salty Marine didn't even flinch. He was one tough SOB. Still remember him making us push...in full loadout. Rah!
@@efromhb You have no idea what you are talking about...the "pin on" is only done when you make corporal (the first NCO rank and when you get the red stripes on your blue's trousers) and the pins can be punched into your upper arm (tricep) to draw blood. No one ever punches them into the collar bone of your shirt collar. And certainly not on a senior NCO...the blood stripe pin in is only participated by young NCO's.
You're not presenting greetings. "These presents" is the document you're reading. It's a legal term. "To all who are witnessing this, Greetings," basically. Congrats, Devil Dog!

I have a brick If u ever go there Mcrd San Diego. Visit the bricks
They better have blood pinned the shit out of him
He earned his blood stripe when he picked up Cpl, I'm sure he is good now
That happens when you get your blood stripe as a Corporal not when you make Staff Sgt. (an old U.S. Recon Marine vet.).
@@downtownusmc, yeah, that's not what blood pinning is.

I’m thinking many mispronounce the word; it should be “present” as in “present arms,” not “present” as in “presence.”
