92 4Runner 3VZ-E Head Gasket Job pt1

Hey guys, Ive got another project on the go. This time, its a 1992 Toyota 4Runner with the 3.0 in it. I diagnosed it as having been held Wide Open Throttle in a mud hole until it overheated and blew the head gaskets and stalled out. This is just the first video of the diagnosis. In the next video, we will be making good progress in taking the heads off!

I agree, they got her smokin hot and she popped. Probably at cylinder 5. I think the worst part of a 3.slow hg job is either the mess of vacuum lines or the stupid crossover exhaust setup. That’s a cool 4Runner either way, should make for some good videos of the repair.
She needs a pressure wash either way before touching that mess 😂

haha yea, if i had one, i would have used it :P i had to be carefulling take everything off, and vacuum the dirt chunks up as i went haha!

and i was very surprised which cylinder blew! it definitely wasnt one of the rear ones haha!

I have a 91 4runner that the same thing happen to but now that I have put the new gasket on my cylinder heads are not bolting down some I'm trying to find two cylinder heads

That parts engine you have, if the timing belt did come off the engine should still be fine because isnt the 3vze a non interference engine so the valves never will hit the pistons even if the belt breaks?

you are correct. i actually turned the engine over without the timing belt and it was fine haha. i love non-interference engines

that blue 4runner is exacly like mine lolll same year everything haha ! .. and same problem i got on mine last year not a super hard job :P

no, not hard, just lots of time haha! plus, all the mud and dirt caked oil makes for lots of cleaning... i have probably 7 hours into just cleaning all the parts haha

​@@analog56x yeah a lot of cleaning mine was not that dirty but close XD the worst parts for me was the damn cross over pipe the bolt were rusted pretty bad and verry hard to remove !

@@jsvallee567 i bypassed the exhaust entirely haha! I unbolted the manifolds, then removed the studs if they didnt pull out with the nuts haha! I know if i touch the exhaust, its going to add a lot more hours to this job.
