I still think Kaleb is one of the more talented WR's we have from an athletic perspective. I wonder if maybe he's just still in the dog house a bit from the OWI incident. He certainly didn't have crazy stats last year but we didn't really have anyone left that could get him the ball either but nobody else really stepped up either outside of Ostrenga. It's not like the team doesn't have a history of underutilizing WR's that can and have transferred elsewhere and done well. Would be nice to at least see him get some more chances to know for sure, it's not like the other WR's outside of Gill and RVZ for one game have done a whole lot. RVZ has had one catch for 10 yards since that first game so maybe it wouldn't hurt to get Kaleb a bit more involved, he was able to give the passing game a little life at times last year and between him and Gill that might be a nice combo to have.
He’s certainly our best athlete at WR and, imo, he is being criminally underutilized! Find ways to get him the ball in space and he will make plays for us! I agree with coach; get the ball in his hands because once you do the kid has explosiveness and power. He can drive through tackles and did so last year as well when he was given the opportunity. I’m sorry, but if you watch him with the ball in his hands or in space and it’s easy to see how athletic and sudden he can be. He just needs more opportunities!
Edit: there is a Kaleb brown highlight video from last season; go watch it! Watch him drive through tacklers against Rutgers. If you want to question his hands then fine, but once the ball is in his hands he can make things happen.
If you get Ohio State WR transfers we should be specifically targeting them. Pretty sure this is traditional dog house due to OWI. Kaleb Brown looked like the lone true athlete on offense at the end of the year. Looked like a diamond in the rough with that pitiful offense last year.
That offseason OWI prolly isn’t helping his case for playing time and targets
Cory is looking at stats more than he should and game tape less than he should. Brown's stats last season don't matter because they had a terrible system and terrible QB. Watch the game tape and see how often he gets open. Go back to this years Iowa St. game. Brown only played 7 snaps that were passes but I believe in like 5 of those he beat his man. Cade didn't look at him, probably because right now, Gill is considered their #1. I would argue though, that this is due more to Brown being in the doghouse due to the OWI, and maybe other issues. He needs to be their #1 though. Just look at the tape. He gets open!
