The problem is not McNamara, Sullivan, nor Lester. The problem is Ferentz, and it's obvious to any less-than-casual CFB fan who's not an Iowa fan. KF has done a lot for the program, and it's fine if the Iowa fan base wants to remain loyal to him out of respect for his past accomplishments. But don't expect to get in to the playoffs even with 12 teams. Iowa isn't in the B1G West anymore.
Exactly 💯 correct. See Deacon Hill. He depends on defense and special teams. A mediocre qb is all Kirk wants and thinks will work even though it doesn't.
I totally agree the problem isn't cade McNamara it's Kirk ferentz and his outdated run first play calling cade showed he's a passer and accurate once he finds his rhythm and is warmed up take him out of that rhythm by only allowing him to pass on third downs and he's not going to do so well exhibit A his first game throwing first downs and second he got in his rhythm reading pass coverage and made the right decision who to throw to again he's not the problem kirks the problem.
@@skylermummert24 then you wasnt watching his first game because he was consistently making 30 40 and fifty yard passes and that's all the proof anyone needs to see he's got a good arm and if I was a coach I'd damn well let him throw the ball.
Sullivan is a better runner.... He offers more options, and maybe he goes through progressions better. Cade's lack of arm strength alone, speaks volumes.
Icing a kicker is a matter of coaching preference. Kirk would probably defend the decision by referencing the 2014 game, in which he got burned calling a timeout to ice the ISU kicker.
I hate to say this but this caller is really clueless. If you have followed and know anything about cade he is a team first guy. Being at Michigan be ing denoted for the best qb and still being a captain at Michigan. Your reading to much into this . Nobody is Gallo g for cade to be benched. All we want is a completion. Play both cade and Sullivan and see where it goes. If Sullivan shows he's the better option, so be it. NOBODY is worried about dividing a locker room is cade is beat out. I guarantee cade will be the beat teammate if he is beat out and will only rally the rest of the team. It's a travesty not to play Sullivan as he is a proven big ten qb if all the sudden cade goes down with another injury. Hate to say it but I , and may other question his ability to last the entire season. Our offensive line at times and their ability to block don't do him no favours. Sullivan with his feet will be making opposing teams defense think twice about stacking the box and daring us to thow and beat them. We're all praying Lester has some say in seeing Sullivan get some reps against troy..
I agree with Cory and Don, why would it be a bad thing if Sullivan came in and performed better and they don't go back to McNamara. I mean the what I think is supposed to be the humanity of us, is that I feel bad that he has had things happen and he has and will struggle to show himself as his potential best and this is his last year so he doesn't have the time to get there. But at the same time feel Sullivan NEEDS and deserves game time and I feel like Troy may be the best opportunity to get some games reps in before Conference play. And many want to see what Sullivan can do especially since it has been hammered to us that the two QBs have been neck and neck during and since camp.
Caller trying to advocate for Cade must be a Family Member because Cade was just as bad as Deacon Hill against Iowa State and to not see if Sullivan who has had recent B1G success and by many accounts looked better than Cade in the Fall and can RUN if a play breaks down is so very Iowa under Kirk , Caller is the exact type who enables this crap Year after Year , What a Guy got paid means nothing, Losing the Cy Hawk because Your QB and play calling stunk means a heck alot more than any NIL payment and live game play is not the time for a QB to knock off rust .
Cade had a thordamned awful game after that first quarter, no doubt. But there is no way on Tory Taylor's green earth that Cade is as bad as Deacon Hill.
It doesn't matter how much they invested in Cade/paid him, whatever, if Sullivan plays better, then Sullivan needs to be the starter at least until Cade can do better. At this point they are just giving Cade the benefit of the doubt, but reality is we've seen enough to have doubts and go with who is playing the best. True, Ferentz hasn't ever done this in the past but now is the time.
You can still continue to evaluate McNamara, and also give Sullivan a possession each half and see how he plays. Kirk did that with Stanzi and Stanzi won the job from Christianson.
This is not rocket science: you put your 11 best guys on the field. If somebody struggles, you give the next man a shot. If he doesn't do better, go back to the first guy - or maybe even a third guy. If he does better, it's his job. In what coaching universe is this not basic, day-to-day operating? How are you going to bring in good recruits if everyone knows your program isn't going to give people a fair shot?
I love Cory's show.....this was one of the dumbest calls I've ever heard on it. Coach said it best - the players that perform the best should play. If that's Sullivan, then he should play over Cade. You don't have to wait for Cade to "get back into football shape." This guy wants Cade to play over Sullivan because we paid Cade a good amount of NIL money......who cares, winning takes precedence
I appreciate what Kirk has done at Iowa big picture. There comes a time when every coach needs to realize they are becoming more of a hindrance to the team than a leader though. Nick Saban realized it, guys like Mac Brown realized it. Kirk isn’t even on their level but he needs to realize his football philosophy does not mesh with the game today. If you watch his demeanor over the past year especially, I feel it’s apparent that Kirk doesn’t love the game anymore and that’s ok. But then it’s time to step down and hand the reigns over to someone who IS passionate and has that fire. Kirk just doesn’t have the fire anymore. Love him, but dude it’s time to retire buddy. Until then I’m done watching this team make fixable mistakes en route to a 6-6 season.
Some of you experts need to realize that Iowa is implementing an entire new offensive scheme. Like the coaches have been saying all along… its going to take time… but yall dont acknowledge that part and for some reason expect Iowa to go 12-0 😂
Yeah we dont have time to sit around and wait to see what Cade has got... If we have someone capable of playing better now then he needs to be in there... otherwise the losses will happen like they did last weekend... Season is short and Wins are at a premium... this loss ruined the season probably and i have a hard time believing Sullivan couldnt do better than 6-21...
MacNamara missed open receivers, missed check downs and under threw routes that could have been big gainers. He is incapable or not willing to scramble when plays breakdown. If he can’t pass then you obviously need a guy with mobility.
That first caller has no idea what he is talking about and does not know football at alllllll
The problem is not McNamara, Sullivan, nor Lester. The problem is Ferentz, and it's obvious to any less-than-casual CFB fan who's not an Iowa fan. Mmm Cades arm is weak
@@skylermummert24 then you wasnt watching his first game because he was consistently making 30 40 and fifty yard passes and that's all the proof anyone needs to see he's got a good arm and if I was a coach I'd damn well let him throw the ball.
Sorry but Cade is not good
Sullivan is a better runner.... He offers more options, and maybe he goes through progressions better. Cade's lack of arm strength alone, speaks volumes.
I'm pretty new to football...
Why didn't Iowa use their 2 timeouts when the Cyclones were kicking that FG from midfield?
Icing a kicker is a matter of coaching preference. Kirk would probably defend the decision by referencing the 2014 game, in which he got burned calling a timeout to ice the ISU kicker.
If Sullivan was to come in and do wonderful, then he should start, period! Unfortunately, unless Cade gets hurt, I expect we will not see him.
Iowa. Where QB’s go to die. It’s 100% Ferentz philosophy on why we are here with 1-2 unacceptable losses every single year.
correct
ATTN: all QB's not named McNamara, might as well pack up and leave, You ain't going see the field.
Amazing Sullivan would leave NW where he was maybe going to be a starter to come play backup behind a guy who can't throw the ball 40 yards.
That was a stupid call
Kirk nevers changes Quarterbacks, example Hill last year

If you are concerned about implementing the offense, then SULLY should be in as he has another year left, so let him learn and run it for 2 years.
Iowa does not have a winning mentality
I agree with Cory and Don, why would it be a bad thing if Sullivan came in and performed better and they don't go back to McNamara. Silly comment

Kirk isn't going anywhere on his own. He has an irin clad $6 million a year through 2029 thanks to Gary Barta
Great content Cory & Don 💯🔥
Some of you experts need to realize that Iowa is implementing an entire new offensive scheme. Like the coaches have been saying all along… its going to take time… but yall dont acknowledge that part and for some reason expect Iowa to go 12-0 😂
Since when is the Kirk turtle a new offense?
Tyler barnes (kirk son-in-law is head recruiter...that is the problem...maybe mary should be the oc

SULLY makes the defense have to honor the run. This is a sport with winning as THE goal.
The difference in this game was Becht vs MacNamara performance, period.
No 👎
No, not at all. Iowa was outcoached by isu.

Cyclone D has made other good qb's look bad
