Checking out the Pro Line Energy and Energy S from Pickleball Apes. They came to market with a very eye catching kevlar x carbon fiber hybrid face. The question is if they are any good?

Will, thank you for warm feedback! We'll make sure to stand out more in the future releases 😃 7" Length x 17" Width coming next - Pro Line Energy Reverse!
😂
I love the S. The original seemed off to me. The S is a winner.
Will, always enjoy your reviews. Here is my feedback as someone who likes to tinker with paddles. I have been using the Legacy Air for a bit and felt the pop and power was sometimes harder to control. I played with this energy pro line s for about 8 hours this week and I felt that it definitely absorbs the impact of hard drives from the super bangers at the kitchen much better, still has decent power which is controllable, and depending on the application can generate as much spin as my Legacy. All in all my 2 cents is that if you can generate your own power and swing speed this paddle will give you with the dinks and resets.
@brianchen7382 thanks for sharing!
In my paddle data analysis - Pickleball Apes Proline Energy S ranked 1st when comparing these four categories: spin, power, pop, and price. The pro line energy came in 11th. Very respectable among the giants. Raw data spreadsheet included 78 paddles and was provided by John Kew. Will, keep up the good work
Very interested in seeing that sheet.
I'm a couple months into pickleball (coming from tennis as a 4.5) and use a Spartus Apollo. Love the paddle just wish it had a longer head and handle, especially handle for my 2h which no longer exists because the handle is so short. Extremely interested in this paddle.
I agree the proline e already has a fantastic sweetspot and i feel like its the extended length that makes it so special
Thanks Will, another great review. Recently picked up an Energy S (got tired of waiting for the Six Zero Ruby, to be available). All I can say is for my game it is an amazing paddle and has replaced the DBD, which I have used for the last year. For me the directional control, dinks, resets, hand speed and touch are beyond what I had with the DBD. Lacks the power (which I can generate on my own) and has less pop (which is good for my game).
Coming from tennis, the longer handle of the original proline energy was good for my two-handed backhand. The elongated shape also made the reach more similar on both wings as well. I have been using it since my transition and it has been great!
Thanks for the review. Interesting, I really love my s compared to my previous ronbus r3 pulsar. But I play mostly doubles. I have never played th original, but should give it a try. I did weight it up a bit on the sides, so I think that makes the sweet spot similar to my r3, with much better touch.
Another great content and review Will, I used your discount code to purchase the Pro Line Energy this week, can't wait to play with the paddles, I'm coming from tennis and have a blessed, wonderful, positive, productive, peaceful and safe week and weekend
I played/drilled with the paddle this weekend, I feel in love with the paddle due to the reach, I'm coming from tennis and I used a 1-handed backhand, I use alot of topspin on my ground strokes and I use a semi western grip due to muscle memory lol, I agree with you the paddle has a grit to it, I know Pickleball Apes is releasing a new line the Pulse series and can't wait to see the new line from them and have a blessed, wonderful, positive, productive and safe week
Thank you for your time and posting.
Coming from the R1.16 which I very much like, it was causing problems in my shoulders from the shock coming from hitting the ball. My Pickleball Apes Power S has eliminated that for me and plays a bit better than previous paddle for me!
@pickleballwill do you have a video or recommendations for (extra) elongated paddles for tennis players getting into the sport?
I don’t right now but I’ll make one soon! I would check out Thrive Rush, Shogun, Hudef Viva Gen 2/3, Engage Pursuit Pro(1)
Hi Will, I’ve been using a DBD 14mm for a long time(absolutely love it). I switched from the legacy pro, the slow hand speed at the net and the tennis elbow(guess the swing weight was high for me) wasn’t helping. How does hurache control+ stack against the legacy pro or the DBD14? I personally don’t generate a lot of power, so I’m more of a control player. I generally play 3.5 doubles tournaments. Would appreciate any advise, looking for another paddle. Not sure if I just need to stick to my DBD14. Thank you.
I would stick with dbd 14 if it’s working for you. Unless you want more touch you can go with the hurache. I personally don’t think the hurache gets more power than the dbd 14mm
Speaking of unique head shapes, I know you've got an Ethos Arete and I'd love to hear your opinion of it. It's become my #1 and I've never found the smaller face to present any issues whatsoever.
Yea I find the shape of the Arete quite intriguing. Might not be able to get around to it til after holidays
My Wukon is at level 58 .... hahaha ... IYKYK ... HAHAHA ... thanks for the review Will
Which paddle would be your go to and why? The original pro line, R3 Pulsar, or Prism V7?
Between the R3 Pulsar and V7 Prism probably those are a bit more versatile
Would you pick the 6.0 DBD over the Proline Energy?
Nah I would pick Pro Line Energy. But I would pick Black Diamond over the Pro Line
@@PickleballWill the original Black Diamond? How come?
Just the current black diamond. I just prefer the feel from it. I also think I get a bit more spin from it
@@PickleballWill got it! Thanks, I want to get another paddle, I just don’t know what to get.
@josegallegosdds maybe I need to make a current top 10 list 🤔
Will can you do a review on the Hyperion C2???????
Can you do a ‘Kevlar Shootout’ review? Curious how this compares to the Ruby. 🤔
Might do one in a few months since I know a bunch of other companies coming out with Kevlar offerings. The Apes play more crisp and provide more feedback than the Ruby. The Ruby feels a bit soft by comparison imho
I'm a 3K Carbon fan. Mixing it with Kevlar has me curious. Cheetah uses 3K on the face and Kevlar in the core.
Will, what’s your thoughts on apes vs the ruby (all Kevlar)?
Ruby (kevlar hybrid) > energy S
Ruby = Energy for me but these 2 are different
@@PickleballWill , my go-to paddle is the DBD 16mm. What's the Ruby doing differently? Also waiting for my Loco to arrive! Head over heels for that hybrid shape.
@@PickleballWill good to know since I am a PLE user. I guess the difference maker would be if all Kevlar doesn’t wear down as fast long term.
I’ve got both. I love the Energy. Still getting used to the S. The original definitely has better touch. I’ve used a bunch of “power” paddles just to realize I’m better at dinker than driver.
It’s the opposite for me with the sweetspot 😅
Also I’ve tried all those paddles mentioned and for some reason I always come back to the PLE S
The logo has a resemblance No?
What do you mean?
It still wears down as fast as T700 raw cf ... don't buy into the claim of significant longevity of the surface grit
It def does still wear down like raw cf
If I’m not mistaken, the Kevlar is under the carbon fiber right? So the ball makes contact with essentially the same sort of surface?
