Walking NYC : University Heights, Bronx & Former NYU Campus
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 вер 2024
- I walk through the neighborhood of University Heights, Bronx. I also pass by the Bronx Community College, which was the former NYU Campus from 1894 - 1973. The University Heights name comes from the presence of New York University in the area.

Thank you ActionKid for sharing the tour of ex NYU campus. In 1973 we had to move to the Washington Square because NYU-Heights campus was sold to CUNY. I spent hours cramming in the beautiful library next to the "Hall of Fame for Great Americans". It was a beautiful campus.
Wow, that must have been an experience to live through the move in person!
I certainly don’t miss the garbage on the streets. It’s so easy to keep it clean, other than that thank you for the tour.
8:15 Aquaduct Walk. A park formed from the land formerly used for the Croton Aquaduct; the first major water delivery project in NYC. Now it is walking trails which are part of a larger trail that goes all the way to Croton Reservoir in upstate NYS.
Really cool! I've heard of hiking groups that follow the former Croton Aqueduct system all the way upstate.
Hey kid after your video about people staking you I find myself worrying every time someone stops and talks to you. I know that must sound strange because we don’t know each other but right now you are on my tv in my living room. Strange times we live in. Anyway stay safe.
Interesting neighborhood!🤗
But when someone comes to you, I'm scared first!😢
Have a beautiful Sunday AK!😘✨
Don't be scared. 🙂
Thank you!
I grew up in University Heights (183rd). You were actually in Morris Heights when you got off at Burnside Ave from the 4 Train.
Thank you. liked it, like !!. and I posted a video of a university in the north of Russia. Happy viewing.
Thank you AK!! ❤️❤️❤️
You're welcome
Lots of beautiful land areas that just seem to be idle. No ones there..ive always been wary of parks but Action give me a positive perspective and I admire his perseverance to navigate sketchy places..
Thank you. liked it, like !!. and I posted a video of a university in the north of Russia. Happy viewing.
Marvel Comics Stan Lee use to live @ 1720 University Avenue many lifetimes ago. He has a street named after him in his honor. “Stan Lee Way” on University Ave. between Brandt Place and West 176th Street.
Wow, I didn't know that!
Different vibe at night lol I almost got robbed in university heights
Yeah, you can’t hang there at night. That’s for sure.
Definitely!!!
AK, Congratulations on getting 260,000 subscribers! You rock! Thank you for all the wonderful videos and awesome tours. All your hard work and care are sincerely and greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much!
Thank you for the share. That was my old neighborhood up to Feb, 1968 when I went in the Army. That park on Sedgewick across from NYU we used to call the Lane and was a point of dispute between the boys from Fordham Road side and the Burnside Boys. All that broken glass is probably several feet deep from the drinking done there on the weekends and goes back generations .NYU and the Hall of Fame were quite impressive back then.
My son is coming back to Manhattan on business next week. He relocated to California in July 2019. I still haven't seen him since January 2020 but he is looking forward to being back in New York. These videos remind me of him so much.
Thank you for coming to the neighborhood. In 26:55 you are entering University Woods which leads you down to Cedar Avenue. Neighbors have been getting together to clean up the streets and University Woods. There is big issues with illegal dumping, and Quality of Life items. Our next clean up event is on June 12, 2021 from 10AM - 2PM in collaboration with @CPFNYC @NYCPARKS
Great Virtual Tour 👍
Thanks for sharing my friend 💜
I feel so bad for those individuals that give AK a dislike. Says a lot of how they see themselves and how they feel about life.
This was my old neighborhood. Left here in 1974. The abandoned site is actually the croton aqueduct .
Grew up in BX 182 st Grand Conc - 70's I use to ride my 10 speed full speed - up the hill from Jerome / across the bridge to Wash Heights / G.W. after my family move to Ft Lee / Engle cliffs N.J.
I used to work in Inwood.and would see all those buildings from Manhattan. Thanks for showing those apartments on Cedar from the front. I've only seen them from the back. That's a surprisingly quiet block.
Thankyou so much AK! I so appreciate you..❤
Really liked this one here!
It would be interesting to see photos of how NYU looked before it was sold to the City and compare it to how it's being taken care of now as the Community College. Amazing buildings! Hope the City keeps that wonderful architecture in good condition. Thank you for this interesting walk.
Great vid! Loved the “expose” you did on the disgraceful conditions of Bronx CC. Keep up the good work.
Went to school at NYU. Thanks for the memories.
Thank you for touring Cedar Avenue. We work so hard to keep it clean, unfortunately our quiet street gets so dirty because of the car washers and people coming to ilegally dump on our neighborhood. Also our quiet street is now the focus of illegal street parties, the noise during the night is too much. in addition to the highway the nights are the worst
Stay safe AK we need you in these NY streets 💯
That area where the trees are that was blocked off, it's called the Aquaduct Walk. Great job with your walk-around videos. Keep it going, please.
Great premiere video!
Action wizzz in university
3:42 lol that guy said "chino"
10:18 I thought that dog was dead, thank goodness it moved. The bronx gets a bad enough rep.
I thought that too. Glad he was OK
I dint know nyc has stray dogs he looks so sad😩
@37:22 The person walking towards you looks like a space alien. 😲
The area is known as University Heights .Morris heights is the Metro North Stop at River Park Towers
Accra restaurant I see were all my friends from Ghana live the most happiest people
Thanks for video but please stay safe
That's what I was thinking especially when he went in that park. Stay safe Action Kid
U stop being a scardy cat, he will be fine, hes not in chicago or where you are, so hes safe.
@@curly73ful stop being a punk, he will be alright he always has been nobody bothers him they enjoy his videos he dont worry about stuff like that. It's just you cowards and scary cats gone die for Being scared. Hes bold and we like that. He probaly reads the bible where it saids god has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
He not worry, you cowards and scary cats are. He will be fine
@@dennisclark4370 Right because crime only happens in Chicago, not anywhere else. It's not a matter of being a "scardy cat" (are you 4 years old)? It's a matter of being cautious & being aware of your surroundings
This whole hilly area reminds me of and looks similar to the area in and around Casa Loma here in Toronto that also houses a campus of George Brown College.
The aqueduct park you mentioned actually starts down at Tremont Ave at around 177th st.
Some are less expensive but Fine Fare and Food Dynasty gives them price and food quality competition.
The amount of litter in NY is uncanny
So Fun like ancient ruins 😅 I have to see more, Thank you for what u could get to shared . I will look up more. The old rock steps , rock walls . Exciting
I lived at one time in the late 70s it is a truly beautiful neighborhood of many cultures and lots of different things to eat. That was even the train stop on the number 4, I would get off at.
Great job w this stream as always thank you for going where most don’t. Keep it up. This was enjoyable.
Nice walking tour! so beautiful places, great sharing!
Yeah absolutely magnificent! Thanx for these educating and impressive
videos!! It's another blast!!!
Thanks AK . Yep, a shame that area is so neglected in places. I'm just glad you didn't travel down Cedar Avenue on your scooter (by Cedar Manor) 😮
3:12 i like the part where hes just holding his fingers up ad looking cool.
1522 University Ave!!! My building
A number of your videos capture local bird songs that might be worth mentioning. There are also dutch elm trees that are very rare in the United States. NYC is one the country's great natural resources. You already do a great job!
Stay safe, king.
Thank you for video showing! Wow! Safety! ActionKid ❤💙❤💙❤👍
Good weather. Corona situation in the US is always introduced to Korea. It's moving in a positive direction. You look peaceful! 😆😆
Cool around the old nyu
Thanks for catching me somehow going up into the subway. Too bad, I didn't notice you on camera because I would have stopped you to chat for a bit during your video session.
man i am really addicted to your videos haha
Thank you for sharing this video
Wow! Gorgeous views!!!
12:30 I tried exploring the Metro Tech and Pratt Institute campuses friday but they were closed too. 😒
27:13 nice park
I like your videos. keep going.
Awsome structure..24:00 incredible
I'm a little confused. Is the old NYU campus now part of Bronx Community Coll or are there 2 separate campuses ?
Hey actionkids
Thank you. liked it, like !!. and I posted a video of a university in the north of Russia. Happy viewing.
Good walk 😁
Imagine university park at night 🤣
Love u AK, went to bcc back in 16’
University Heights looks pretty nice neighborhood
I feel bad for that dog. He looked skinny and sad. I hope someone helps him.
There Not your neighbors Trust me these ppl r not dumping where They live. So I would snitch. Most likely rich ppl Not wanting to spend money on there extra disposal . Where I live you are limited on weekly trash And charged extra to have things like those TV’s hulaed off
GM in my old nabe
33:12 From all the crap I see floating around here snitching on your neighbors could easily be a fulltime job.
This video's neighborhood looks sketchy. Stay safe ActionKid.
Do you still
Sell your mask?
Why dont you use a drone so we could see whats inside
Vim pelo Patrick Lopes
Power washing your car isn't a good idea
I see many differences in this part of the city... i see hood
Hey Action Kid! How's it going?
I used to live in Morris Heights back in the day! They have some nice houses there. Oh wow, look at all the graffiti there.
Needs some maintenance action...kid
Hay Action Kid the Televisions that is Dumped on the street is probably for the Rats so they can watch some Television 📺 at Night 🌃 in my Neighborhood one night dumped a old Toilet with the Tank in the middle of the Street.
