Wait are you telling me you dont want to pay 16 dollars for some beads mass produced in asia and "assembled" by the upper middle class mom who cuts you off in their Volvo? Instead of FRESH fish from the great pacific from local fishers?
How pathetic this generation has become . When we work together our eyes have a broader view of life . The Fish Throwing brings foot traffic( CUSTOMERS) - along with the other vendors . If every vendor would to pack up next week, Pike Place Owner would be begging on their KNEES 🙇♂️
I mean as much as I hate them, I understand copyright laws. If a spoiled fish got sold that was labeled “Pikes Place Market” and got someone severely sick but it was just from the fish throwers, the market suffers, liability becomes a mess, people’s reputation get damaged. Is that so hard to understand? Stop being an crumbly old person blaming everything on “this generation”
Leave our Fishmongers alone! I have seen these fish throwers in action many times and I can assure you it's quite fun and entertaining. The cameras don't do the guys justice, those fish fly by at lighting speed to be caught by soft ninja hands.
nothing is going to happen as long as when they named the market before the policy. its a worthless fight the market knows it will lose. hopefully there is no fine print stating they should change after a certain date. will lose.

They have an undisputed copyright that doesn’t restrict them to only selling at the market. They can use their business name any way they please. If anything, this spreads the Pike Place name further so they should be happy with free marketing.
Back in the 80s when I lived there others about four blocks away from pioneer square for they had every John ra of live music and some really great restaurants. Because of the crime in the poverty that's all over.
It’s hilarious because I’d guess that vendor brings in as many if not more tourists than the “first” Starbucks which isn’t even the first actual location because it burnt down.
I think its because the fish vendor included the word "Market" in their name, Starbucks did not - they just named it after the street. You are correct about where the first starbucks was located tho, and how weird of them to put it somewhere else and claim its still the "first one". I would argue that the first starbucks was named El Giornale and was located at the corner of Second and Madison. I remember its were I first saw the mermaid logo. Starbucks was invested in it, but now that company is known as Illy. I love my coffee.. ;)
They do have a point though ifthey are using the market name to sell elsewhere then if anything happens in the other places they sell the original market can be sued. Unfortunately, that is how it is with lawsuits.
So many stores that made Pike's Place Market what it was were closed down over the past few years. I don't even bother going to it anymore. Go ahead and bulldoze it for new condos and shopping malls.
I lived there many years ago. I remember in 1995 the open air fish market. Left there never returned. If there is any truth about these you tube video's. Forget Seattle.

Oddly I think I'm the only one that is going to be questioning the fish throwing enterprise. I live downtown and shop nearly every day at Pike Place, unlike the tourists who stand there for 10-20 minutes with iphones in front of them just waiting for someone to start throwing fish. I was relieved when the throwing was suspended during the lockdown but it is taken off again and with every big carnival cruise line bar there's tons of tourists standing there waiting to take a photo. Please understand these are not customers. They do not by anything, they returned to their barge and eat on the ship. They are known in the industry as day trippers. They do not add to the revenue of Pike Place. Marketing has it's rules and if you can only sell tagging where you're located perhaps you need to come up with a better strategy. I shop at the other non-fish-throwing seafood vendors just to avoid the circus at that location.
The fish throwers have been there for decades. You think they do it out of charity? Just because a lot of tourists are there to take photos doesn't mean there are no customers. Those 2 can exist together.
PETA has been showing up weekly looking for stores to protest for an hour or 2 just to snap a few photos and record a video of their speech to throw up on social media.
They don’t realize many tourists who are there only want to see these fish throwers ,they don’t care about any names involved

Pike place is literally a street 💀💀💀💀💀
It’s gone to mediation so the Market is just looking for a percentage at this point.
Aren't there other, more important things to worry about?
Of all the things going on in Seattle, you want to squable about a name? This city is truly DOOMED.
